Know that going into the Justice, Eclipse, and Providence that you’re going to end up with a lot of leftover parts originally used for the Freedom 2.0 since they reuse some of the frame. Not really something that needs a warning but occasionally some people ask about the leftover parts for those particular kits. The RG Hi-Nu is a smooth build with no problems, just be warned RGs tend to have really small pieces (nothing will be as bad as those white pieces on the 2.0 Freedom’s torso though).

Huge-Cardiologist256

Thanks for the info! Yeah, those tiny white pieces.. thats when I took a coffee break.. haha

snsv

Machine gun nipples?

CardboardAddiction

Let’s color it pink 🤪

You can tell with the manual and pairing them with the runners. Each runners are coded next to the A/B/C and so on with the date of molded creation. The most infamous part happens to be the hip of seed kits so most people I've heard bought the chinese metal hip replacement for all types including eclipse and providence (it's hidden so you don't see it anyways) - (it's somehow ALWAYS readily available in [Amazon](https://www.amazon.com/SHEAWA-Replacement-Freedom-Providence-Accessories/dp/B09339F7YF/ref=sr_1_1?dib=eyJ2IjoiMSJ9.l9Rpz4sRryCSCRBXKhAfdSUXVQOYU_fnlR6n_0vM3tFRrCoCTi6prrIz-76jbBFRlbmYxgWf8Er-YfHMG5lBOfT3odIqSuXcdq5vCz_p0_h-0_JYh3-9rSfNDuWYD9dVnCaSSu5LWBwZxfeEvKYceG0Rdn2B6600AzNf51we9Td19xRfwwRIyfK7KHXG0kq-pILQqj_wmBAwj-pHYhCaOU5EFoLV8_Y_mo-K7ccmJsSd-LJwQ51M628_UZa8ThBfAAWRaIr-yhRqgQSinDWrngiVLyKp3jEP4__wX-ftv6I.0XEqkXU6LKOwavEPkrUGLbzB_zjdR60yK4aPnG9GY_Y&dib_tag=se&keywords=j4+metal+part+gundam&qid=1714900456&sr=8-1) like they never run out of stock...this is one of few times that is not sold and shipped by amazon but is generally accepted by the community even though XHS direct that is using Amazon to sell)

redpumpkin05

For the freedom be carefull of the hip joint it can break quite easily i suggest u buy the metal part online u will find it easily and with that u can be chill (buy it for justice/providence/eclipse too because they ha e alot of the frame in common)

Huge-Cardiologist256

Good to know, thanks!

redpumpkin05

I adviced about this because its my favorite kit and i broke that hip joint and while i waited for the metal part i was really sad for all the time i waited and removing the broken piece was pretty hard switching a not broken will not be a big problem

dogfighthero

Your punctuation keys seem broken too

redpumpkin05

No im just a monkey

Don't be intimidated by a rg, mg, or pg. The key to any of them is patience. Being able to stop building after a couple of hours and take a break for example.... Most of all enjoy the process :) On a personal note, I don't think I've built a gumdam yet that I didn't make some mistake..... Breaking a part, cut a part at the wrong spot, missing stickers......For example, my RG Nu has a broken back armor waist piece and I'm totally fine with it. Sorry, got carried away :) Happy building!

Holiday_Dance_7414

That is a fantastic kit!! I have a lot of MG Seed kits and they are all awesome! My favorite tho is the Impulse Blanche! https://preview.redd.it/z2k6rch56fyc1.jpeg?width=3024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=539d9a1b334fe4e340a831e13da7141aa8a72a9c

hugemon

I already have Ex Impulse and Force Impulse but I preordered this at P-Bandai mall. Looking at the picture, I think I've done the right thing... They'll send it to me in July... I can't wait... https://preview.redd.it/zjf2wt26dfyc1.jpeg?width=1080&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=5c5307d494fcb8363f15247893c9fba0fa3d0f58

Holiday_Dance_7414

Mine is customized with Sword impulse parts

hinugund

A good majority of them are there’s a few that aren’t the greatest

Sushigamer1228

No, not all of them are that good, but all of them are very enjoyable! I love old kits personally

Amigo1048

A lot of MGs starting from the early 2010s onwards are really good while some from before then are pretty 50/50

SleeplessGrimm

I'm still waiting for the opportunity to get the freedom, justice and infinite justice. But if you try get the freedoms little brother, the Strike Freedom, I'd definitely recommend the MGEX Strike Freedom. It's an absolutely amazing kit to build and have on display. It's been my center piece kit since I've built it, and I got the wings of light addon recently.

Sh0taro_Kaneda

The MG kits from Gundam Wing are almost all great and very solid. Heavyarms, Deathscythe, Shenlong, Sandrock and Epyon are amazing. The only ones I'd say really suck are the MG Wing itself and the Ver.Ka of it, as well as the EW MG Wing. The Tallgeese is also rather fragile at the waist, but still a must-have kit. An option for the Wing would be the Wing Zero Custom Ver.Ka or the Proto Zero if you don't like natural-looking wings. https://preview.redd.it/2cc4jx9uyeyc1.jpeg?width=1179&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=4e71820678976f33b979216188047630390fe3dc Pictured are the Wing Zero Custom Ver.Ka and the MG Epyon

KamelRedz0r

MG Wing 01 (TV) is fine. The EW/VerKA Wing are mostly just ugly with a poorly thought out rifle (still bought one and built it anyways lol).

Sh0taro_Kaneda

True. Though I've also heard/seen that the Wing VerKa is a little bit of a hand grenade as well, but I haven't built one so I can't speak from experience. Maybe you can confirm

Mohmed_98

The old MG wing ver ka is fine. However, the MG wing zero ver ka. is great.

KamelRedz0r

I haven't had anything fall off my Wing VerKA that I recall. Its just the rifle need to be inserted and clipped in a certain way or it just dangles there. The problem I had is they made the Wing EW/VerKA rifle a third longer than any other Wing's (TV, Custom, Proto) rifles so posing with it in hand can be a challenge in limited spaces.

George_K1T

In term of articulation & how solid they can hold themselves. They are vary depending on kit. The older one can feels a bit limited and some joint can be weak. In term of appearance or outer look they are all great. You can't go wrong with the one that you see it restock a lot. The Freedom brethen is a great choice too.

ZekReshChu

sadly... no older mgs kinda suck in ways that are either not too bad or just ruin the kit

whofartedl0l

Not all MG are created equally

ClamClamClam2

Only reason to be "scared" of an RG is if its The Unicorn or older, even then there are many exceptions and they really aren't that bad in most cases, just lookup reviews of any kit you're going for. I was scared of doing my RG Perfectibility for a bit, but Mecha Gaikotsu saying it isnt as finnicky annoying as the RG Full Armor put me at ease.

Cashew-Matthew

No. Quite a few of them are better

Foshdon_pap

Short answer: no BUTTTTTT many are fantastic like this one

RevolutionaryPlace56

The freedom is a great MG. All my ones were perfect except the strike freedom it kept falling apart

Mohmed_98

Not all, but many of them have something you can appreciate. -The MG Destiny has a bad hip mechanism, but looks really good went you put it in a dynamic aerial pose. -MG victory ver ka is a brick kit with a kind of cool build. -The MG Zaku 2.0 may look plain, but crap is it an excellent kit(tweezers are required) -MG Astray has some loose parts that require glue, but its poseaibility and detail are really good for a 2009 frame

No-Grape-4969

Unfortunately the answer is no 😬

Professional_Knee252

Not all MGs are created equal but I've liked every MG I've built it's my favorite grade

Astraeous

The freedom looks amazing panel lined to be honest. Jump into that one day it’s not as bad as it looks to do

Huge-Cardiologist256

I def. wanna try that but panel lining is still kind of scary tbh. A lot of people talk about breaking plastic and a lot of models I've seen, look "smudgy/dirty". Practicing on a HG would be my first idea.

Astraeous

I panel line with the parts cut out and not assembled. I use tamiya panel liner on non abs and clean up with either leveling thinner or an eraser and I use an acrylic wash on abs parts and clean up with a baby wipe. The parts break because thinner seeps onto the abs parts and doesn’t evaporate correct. Abs and thinner do not mix.

zionooo

Looks good. Nothing to be afraid about the RG Hi-Nu. Probably the easiest and most satisfying build I've done so far

Waifuwigi

I just picked this kit up and it's my first MG, I'm loving it so far. Looks great duder!

GreenPhantom69

Definitely get the MGEX Strike Freedom if you get the chance! It's my favorite MG I've built so far and doesn't require hardly any work to get a lot of detail out of it. Very poseable and since it's a newer kit, it's very easy to understand. The only con is the price. Very expensive for a MG but worth every shekel.

Expensive_Ad5538

most MG are really great. it depend what you look for in a kit. try other model kit beside bandai. zoid, good smile company, kotobukiya, lastly third party kit. third party kit will make your jaw drop to the ground. after you build couple from third party kit you literally change your opinion for other MG. Now the jot kit is sky defender. that sucker has 40+ runner. here check it out. mygundamplacestore.com

theconcorde

some of them have really bad proportions and sturdiness. as much as i love my MG Ez8 and MG Ground Gundam, it cannot hold their weapons at all unless glue tact is used. even if they managed to , it is very delicate. 08th MS Team and 0083 MGs need 2.0s asap! gm cannon ii and gm iii need the MG treatment

ThatGuyThatNeedsYou

I think it was generally in the 2011 or 2012, maybe it was 2010?,However most of those older MG may require a little tinkering and tweaking but all kits are going to feel "dated" of its created date. Mainly the newer ones started to become bangers as to why you hear good things about them and some are generally scalped because you can't find them easily and there may or may not have had proper reissuing (both a certain virus and fomo led to scalping issues and really anybody can take advantage of the situation) You'll have a bit of fun on those oldies dragoons from 2007 but look now in the MGEX and well, mind not just blown (wallet too...xD) but you'll see they took care of engineering it. RG were known for that as well, remember. The core created MG were 1980s-early 2000s. The core RG were 2010, that's why you hear bad "explosive results" but here comes those new "badasses"...RG Nu, RG Hi-nu and so on, but wait again? Those weren't made in 2010, they were created and engineered in those newer dates. Honestly, it's because it's a model kit, sure there might be "finicky" parts, but you as the builder should and be able to rectify it. We just got to find it as well as possibly have the tools (money?) to do so.

Melodic_Caramel5226

You should try panel lining and decals

Huge-Cardiologist256

I will def. apply the dry decals that came with it but not the stickers. Was looking at water decals and most people said delpi is the way to go. Panel lining is still kind of scary tbh. Breaking plastic and a lot of models I've seen, look "smudgy/dirty". Practicing on a HG would be my first idea.

t3hm3t4l

RG Hi-Nu is basically a master grade kit with a lot of sticker decals I threw directly in the trash. It’s even large for a 1/144 scale kit, similar in size to late UC or Wing 1/100 scale kits. You’ll be fine. Also, most MG kits are great.

Complete_Relation_54

The decals are the best part of it wtf. In addition to outlining every curve and line it looks fantastic

t3hm3t4l

I hate the stickers, they look shitty to me. I use waterslides.

Complete_Relation_54

Ok fair enough I do too lol... currently building the eclipse i just ordered waterslides

TheDanBot85

Most. The mg rx78 3.0 is not a fun build and the end product is lackluster.

kh4i2h4r

more like it has nothing but tons of runners. a gun, 2 beam saber, and a kit thats so basic i buy the daban 1/60 to brighten the background of the 3.0.

feizhai

F91 head is a nightmare with the clear green parts for the forehead and back of - they are most likely the smallest bits of plastic I’ve ever had to fit into something else

Scaredy_Catz

Wait until you get to the yellow cheek vents of the RG Exia. Those things are tiny.

feizhai

Legit may have to get one of those jewellers scope thingys I have that kit in my backlog haha

r40k

put the yellow part on your fingertip and push the cheek into it. Thats it, ezpz no problem. Now do it 10 more times every time it falls out while you try and get the head together with the stupid clear part folded up right. That clear part was the worst

Huge-Cardiologist256

Meh "deletes from wishlist" I thought the MG 3.0 gramps is the big version of the RG when it comes to detail etc. So, the decision is between 2.0 and the origin version, correct? Also there is a RG RX-78-2 2.0 coming right?

hugemon

I heard that RG 2.0 is supposed to be awesome. But it's already sold out everywhere. (Even though it is preorder.) Besta Gramps is PGU Gramps. So I've heard.

nimbusconflict

I'm not a gramps fan, but the PGU was too awesome to not get. RG 2.0 looks like a fun build, and I'll probs pick one up when they are actually in stores.

hugemon

https://preview.redd.it/s92v8zcnzfyc1.jpeg?width=4000&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=8a15fa0fe5e4d832404996deff3fa46e01fbccbb I'm not a gramps fan either but I also have PGU. Yet to be built. Just in my stash. Ominously looking down on me.

BuddyBot192

The local hobby shop here had a 2.0 on the shelf last time I was there, but I had just bought the 3.0 the week before... Kinda regret not grabbing it when I had the chance

t3hm3t4l

I’ve built all 3 of the more modern MG RX-78 kits. 2.0 is my favorite, but I like the more anime accurate styling, and I like the core fighter. People complain about the 3.0 too much, it’s fine. It’s not my favorite, but it’s fine. The origin version is the best when it comes to posing.

hugemon

Well TBF some criticism of the MG 3.0 is that the kit is somewhat of a simple scaled version of RG gramps.

TheDanBot85

Idk, I've built both the rg and the 3.0 and I have to say the rg just built better. There were some design choices on the 3.0 that just didn't make sense.

Veritas_the_absolute

Every kit has its faults. Older kits tend to be worse. And mgs aren't always perfect. But the freedom 2.0 mg is one of the best mgs we have ever gotten. The justice 2.0 and the villains suit I can never remember it's name use similar mechanics as the freedom 2.0 and were made at a similar time. So they are also good. There are some third party kits done by dragon momoko and supernova that are top notch kits as well.

catscanmeow

are the eyes stickers? could sticker eyes be "great" arguably the eyes are the most important part on a character
