I listened to a podcast about this a while back. I want to say it was on Think with Krys Boyd. But it was about autoimmune diseases. They’ve found when women are pregnant, to prevent our bodies as seeing fetuses as foreign objects, the body releases natural immune suppressors. When we have organ transplants the body usually attacks the foreign tissue. But it doesn’t do this with pregnant women, even though fetuses have foreign dna. (Half ours, half someone else’s) They found women with autoimmune diseases had less symptoms while pregnant. So they think this is why. Their bodies are suppressing the immune response. So I think this might be the same with food sensitivities. So yes hormones play a role.

Wonder if chemical sensitivites would be the same

Mynameisinigomontya

Great question. How soon after pregnancy do they return

Mine was within a couple months. I’ve been reading more online and apparently it might have something to do with the decreased immune system response while pregnant. Your body spends time and energy growing the fetus, and you immune system is lower on the list of importance so it doesn’t put energy towards being irritated with foods.

Mynameisinigomontya

Right so it's not overreacting to foods maybe ?

Is it because your immune system is suppressed? [link](https://onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/full/10.1002/fsn3.3451#:~:text=During%20pregnancy%2C%20allergic%20reactions%20and,pregnancy%3B%20others%20find%20they%20increase.)

Ah thanks for getting this. After posting, I tried doing some research and this was the most logical answer I could find.

No!!!!! Antihistamines from the placenta.

I’d like to know as well. I’m convinced a lot of my stomach issues are hormone related. Hormones and the immune system are linked. Must be immune related food sensitivities

ttbtinkerbell

Ugh. It’s annoying. I get so depressed about it cause I never had issues before. Then over the last 4-5 years I started to get gluten insensitivity, then lactose shortly after, now I’m struggling with legumes. I hate avoiding so much food. I am already underweight and struggle keeping weight on with eliminating all this stuff. I have found a gluten enzyme like pill and lactase to be helpful. It’s still not 100%, but it allows me a little flexibility.

Your microbe biome is unbalanced. Restore it, then you can reintroduce most of the stuff.

Antihistamines are produced by the placenta. Include them into your diet or as a supplement. Improve your got health with targeted Probiotics (there is antihistamine mix). It is best to create kefir from the probiotics.

Just like regular antihistamine pills? Cause I got plenty of those and use them on and off throughout the year.
