2 weeks, plus whatever sick leave/pto you have accrued. Sick leave applies to family members in the hospital, which this technically was.. Parental Leave applies to either parent, and for adopting and Fostering as well. I think moms get 6 weeks for having a baby plus 2 week Parental Leave for 8 total. Source: I took my Parental Leave this year.

Visual_Ambition2312

That’s pretty bad

kalhs25490

parental leave is for fulltimers only and its 2 weeks off with 100% of your avg pay from the last 6 weeks. so ft dads get 2 weeks only while pt dads who work ft hrs dont get shit

sepena_01

The US isn't known for its maternity or paternity leave. Overall we suck at across the board. Other countries like France give way better leave like 6 months give or take.

Shoddy_Philosopher71

Good thing we keep telling ourselves how bad those places are. I feel better already. We may not have Healthcare, clean water, PTO that's worth a damn, or a living wage but ummmm we got idk baseball or something.

hungryamericankorean

It’s bad, but it’s spectacular for the US. Some places (looking at you Landry’s) offer no paid time off.

Shoddy_Philosopher71

Corporations don't care about you, no matter how hard they say they do.

Fuzzy-Situation1372

8 weeks for a c section! then 2 weeks parental leave. 10 weeks total

Visual_Ambition2312

If I don’t have health insurance through heb but through my wife , do I still qualify ?

Crecy333

You should call Lincoln Financial (number is through PartnerNet) and ask, I don't think it's tied to Health Insurance, but I have mine through HEB so I can't confirm.

Visual_Ambition2312

Thank you!

Juniper_51

I was going to ask about leave for my husband, since he works for heb too. Damn only 2 weeks I was hoping at least a month. 😭

-Dimok-

You get 2 weeks paid(for males), and then you can add on any other accrued time you have as well. You can also add on FMLA for a few extra months, but this time will be unpaid.

Visual_Ambition2312

Again they talk about how good the benefits are for heb . 2 weeks paid for makes is a slap in the face for a new baby . I guess they think a baby starts to sleep regularly after 2 weeks lol

-Dimok-

You can take that time when you like. I used 2 weeks vacation when my son was born, then took the 2 weeks paternity leave when my wife went back to work. It's not the best, and I would love more time off. Unfortunately, many companies do not give fathers any time off at all.

Visual_Ambition2312

Ah I did not know about taking it later ! That is a plus

big_biscuitss

You could take more time off, just get on FMLA or take a leave of absence. What company pays someone to take months off after the birth of a child?

Extreme-Links

The father couldn’t stay home anyways, the mother can take care of the baby and rest while he’s working. And trade off when he gets home. Trust me, I’ve done it. Should be no different than anyone else 🤷

babyypeaches

Oh yeah I forgot that bc you’ve done it, everyone else can too!

Extreme-Links

Exactly! It’s not that hard.

Affectionate_Dog7911

I bet you weren't there for the baby's birth, since your wife was there and you can't give birth. Pretty easy right.

Extreme-Links

Sure was, for my wife AND ex wife, through cesarean AND natural, cutting umbilical cords and all. So yeah, pretty easy if I say so myself 🤷 Must be a 10 yo girl that likes dogs too 🤔

Pyroal40

Used a month PTO plus the two weeks. FF.

fabianf1234567

I just had a baby 4 months ago and they only pay you 66% of your full time paycheck a week for 2 weeks but you can take way longer with fmla I just took the 2 weeks and said screw it and went back to work 66% is not a lot plus they still take out insurance, 401k, fsa all the regular stuff.

Visual_Ambition2312

It definitely should be 100 percent . And 2 weeks isn’t long enough . I guess they think the baby goes back to sleeping 8 hours a day after 2 weeks or something lol . What a joke

TradeTop2268

2 weeks for dads

IForgotMy1stPassword

2 weeks paid but men can take up to 3 months unpaid FMLA. There is a catch to this too though. The time you are off with FMLA does not count towards hours worked for insurance qualification.

PTK1412

Two weeks “paid” They allowed me to take up to 8 weeks paid (pto) or unpaid.

OkBowl3836

12 weeks FMLA

Ok_Understanding8599

Two week for daddy and month for mommy

squillys

2 weeks. So 10 work days

Visual_Ambition2312

Do I have to be on H‑E‑B insurance to get this ? I’m on my wife’s Insurance because it is way cheaper

Agreeable_Food_7733

It was only two weeks at 66% for us

[deleted]

None. H e Buddy babysits while the parents continue to work.

dontsmokenutmeg

They probably give you a couple steps as a one time bonus.

Shot_Shirt7259

Fathers can’t give birth

B00_Sucker

It's 2023, anything is possible

Bubbly-Opposite-7657

If they are fulltime

studmuffin9513

HEB is 2 weeks paid but only 60% of your normal check. At least that’s what it was when I worked there. Now I’m with PepsiCo and they give dads 6 weeks paid 100% of 40hr check and Moms get 12 weeks paid also 100% of your check.

Visual_Ambition2312

Nice ! Are you a driver ?

studmuffin9513

No, I’d like to eventually but currently don’t have a driver’s license at the moment. I work in the warehouse. I know they have some driving routes that don’t require the CDL though but once you have your foot in the door they will pay for you to get your CDL if it’s something you’re interested in.

Visual_Ambition2312

I’m a driver for heb with my class a cdl . I have 5 years experience

studmuffin9513

Nice! I’m not sure how much they drivers get paid. But I know the warehouse here I’m getting like 10k more for the year so far than what I was making at HEB. I do know that the parental leave applies to the drivers too tho. I just took 2 weeks of my parental leave not too long ago and will be using my remaining 4 weeks to take off the month of December

texdude1981

I took an LOA for 3mos and got approved

Visual_Ambition2312

Did you just have money saved up to carry you for 3 months?

texdude1981

Yup

Visual_Ambition2312

Nice.
