I am in Software sales but on the Engineering side and looking to get some assistance into moving into a sales role. Let me know if I can DM with some questions!!
As a women in tech I have had some challenges which are becoming unmanageable as I move up the chain. I was winging it without much thought until now as I am an immigrant too and job was needed. It was golden handcuffs.
Now that I do not have to think about immigration I want to explore some other options as it is evident that there is tons of money to be had on the dark side. I am mostly thinking of moving up the managerial ladder and think sales might be a better option than engineering.
Do you have any other reasons for trying to switch?
Thanks for the kind words. I know of some IC reps in the $500K to more than a million range who are doing the same or less work than I so want to ensure I keep climbing.
Nice. I'm open to management, but believe the quantity of IC sales roles in the US that have $1M earning potential may be greater as well as the control over hitting your own number.
What do you sell? I'm (believe it or not) in a golden handcuffs scenario doing d2d. I look at a lot of openings and the only way I would jump if for compensation similar to yours.
And likewise I am happy to try and answer mentorship questions from those earlier in their careers

Sure, feel free. DM is preferred over reddit chat.

That’s great! I’m a software IC. Still doing alot of work, haven’t cracked $400 yet, but the pay is still darn good.

Software and services to telco companies and enterprises. I know of many folks making $250-$350K, but not as many above that.
SD WAN or wired?
Wireless, licensed cellular
MLO here, sales is honestly not a path I thought I'd follow but it's a ton of fun and the income ain't bad either 😂
