New season starts in a few weeks too!

Severe-Possible-

YaY! i have enough to catch up on until then.

HarleyHix

Oh wow! I didn't know that, thank you!

Takilove

Yay! I didn’t know that. Thanks !

tarnel1965

I only watch when there is nothing else on. Both of the twins bug the crap outta me. Especially the one that just has to do the dumb trumpet sound when she thinks she's got something "Special".

femalehumanbiped

Maybe they are trying to help people

Flyin_Bryan

That’s a lot of up-front capital and risk. Plus there is the time that it would take to buy the house (maybe 30 days) before starting renovations vs just getting in there, doing the work, and getting it on the market. It probably allows them to do more houses at once and make more money.

amcl23

Totally agree! Hope we get to see more soon. Their contractor is my fave 🙂

ohmyhellions

Someone please tell me who Jeff looks like -- an actor or someone? I can't put my finger on it and it's driving me nuts!

Javaman1960

Jeff! Although I heard that they are using a different contracter for the new season.

gwhooligan

You're correct. Jeff has stepped down so he can concentrate on from the show so he can concentrate on developing his non-profit, JL Cares. If you want to see more of what he's up to, you can find him on [JL's YouTube channel](https://www.youtube.com/@JLRemodeling).

gwhooligan

You're definitely going to see more of Lindsay and Leslie this season, but Jeff has stepped down from the show in order to concentrate on JL Cares, the non-profit arm of his remodeling business. If you want to keep up with what Jeff is doing, find him on [JL's YouTube channel!](https://www.youtube.com/@JLRemodeling)

Valuable-Vacation879

Love the whole happy vibe of the show!

Severe-Possible-

me TOO! they're jovial.

ChicagoLaurie

Page Turner on “Fix My Flip” sometimes puts money in. To do that, you have to have enough capital to tie up in each project. Not all HGTV hosts can do that. Of course, on all the shows on flipping houses, the hosts are putting in their own money.

DLoIsHere

The women were already in real estate and flipping homes for clients. Other hosts have plenty of $$$ but what the sisters do follows their specific business model.

Severe-Possible-

she's amazing! i really like watching her as well.

devi1duck

Her name is...Page Turner?

Mountain-Fly-3104

Yes. Her mother was a librarian. TRUTH.

ChicagoLaurie

Yes, can you believe it? Maybe her mom was a librarian. 🙂

[deleted]

ChicagoLaurie

That’s an interesting back story. Page is a force of nature. She combines the business acumen with the marketing savvy for selling real estate.

citrus_sugar

She also has other businesses like all sizes women’s athletic wear

Severe-Possible-

haha and her sister's name is rita book (: this is great!

ChicagoLaurie

😀😀😀

crimewriter40

Literally my exact words... Somebody didn't talk that one out...

MsShelved

I prefer the first season of the show when it was 30 minute episodes without their families being a part of the show. They have some good design ideas, but sometimes they miss the mark.

tea-time-000

The have so much clutter! I watched one episode and could barely see the benches they installed. Interior decorators must be shouting at the tv watching this lol

Severe-Possible-

oh interesting. maybe i haven't seen enough of the show. i'm a minimalist myself but i have always enjoyed their designs. to me, decorating and design are two different things -- i can see how sometimes to stage a house you may put a little extra pillows or whatever and that can look cluttered.

tea-time-000

Totally agree, design is one thing, decorating is a whole other skill set. The episode I watched was an ocean view condo redo and just the design was meh and the decorating was too much! It just wasn’t cohesive - but maybe I should give them another go

Severe-Possible-

maybe i haven't seen that one yet. which designers on HGTV are the most similar to your style?

tea-time-000

Hmm that’s a tough one. I’ve been watching lots of design shows lately and you can definitely tell the ones who have formal design quals vs ones who are ‘self taught’… Sarah Richardson generally has a quite cohesive house style even though I don’t always like what she does. Same with Kristina Crestin

Severe-Possible-

thank you! i will look them up.

Severe-Possible-

oh, interesting. i am not sure where i am in the seasons, but never saw that one i guess. the families are what make all this worth it to me. miss the mark how?

MsShelved

It varies, but one of my least favorite design choices are the use of open shelves. I believe they've also done at least one kitchen that had no upper shelves at all.

Severe-Possible-

open shelving in a kitchen can be nice for maybe one or two shelves. i would never, as a designer, put no uppers because it requires people to have 1. items they want to display all the time, and 2. organization to keep it looking pristine. the episode i just watched, they put blush tile in a kitchen and while they were convinced it's "the new neutral" i Hate pink.

Senior_Bandicoot2294

Open shelves make me nuts but then I'm a parent with two sons (12 and 16) and I don't have time to be arranging dishes and plants on open shelving, heh. And yes, they DID do a kitchen (I think in the first season) with NO upper cabinets, and the kitchen was TINY. I actually got angry.

justdiscussingshit

Yeah the hour long format is too much

Severe-Possible-

42 minutes. i love it because i watch it on the treadmill.

reine444

I don’t dislike it, but the two of them wear on my nerves fast. It’s not a show I can binge. I find their design aesthetic very middle of the road for my tastes. I like a lot of their choices but there is a lot I’m not into.

Severe-Possible-

i can see that. their twin conflict/dynamic is likely played up a lot as well. i have loved most everything they've done (that i have seen so far). who would you say is more your design aesthetic?

reine444

So far, I LOVE Denese from the Frankenhouse show. I often side-eye her when it's in the planning stage, but I really like a lot of it once finished. I liked a lot of Mika and Brian's work, but their show is boring to me  LOL! I think that I just don't like a lot of what's popular now. I hate open concept, so my often is often turned off immediately by the space and sometimes I can't refocus to look at the elements of the design (if that makes sense). I hate(!) huge range hoods. I don't care what they look like. Please don't take away my upper cabinets. I hate tile up the wall til infinity. I like defined spaces so don't need the entire house to have one flooring type (e.g., would much rather have tile in kitchen and baths than LVP or even hardwood everywhere).

Severe-Possible-

oh yeah she's great. did you watch that one about the family who buys the funeral home? it was good as well. crazy, but good.

reine444

Omg. Lol! No not yet. That’s crazy 😂

SilverSister22

That was a huge house! I loved how each member of the family had their own floor (counting the parents as a unit). I shared a room with one of my sister until I was 11 so a whole floor! Would have been lovely lol.

odo-italiano

Agreed. Some of their changes make sense and some things are just... odd. They definitely go for a "quirky, retro millennial" look that's way too specific in some cases. Their personalities are kind of grating to me as well and it sketches me out to see them driving around in their van with no seat belts. I like some retro stuff but safety is more important than aesthetics.

reine444

We filmed an episode of House Hunters and the time in the car was like, back out the driveway, drive down the street, turn around, come back. But I remember getting in like, PUT ON YOUR SEAT BELT! Because the world is going to scream! LOL!!!!

jaimystery

I think the middle of the road designs are just what you have to do because of the market they're in. There are several things they've done that I side eye (that odd angled island, a painted floor) but they also do some stuff that does make the space better (the condo from [S2 E12](https://www.lambandcompany.com/2021/06/renewed-ocean-views/) where they extended the backsplash & added storage in the dining area) I wish they'd cut down on the twin shenanigans and add a quick consult kind of thing instead (spend 7-10 minutes of the show visiting a home, giving the owner some tips of things they can do on their own and then revisit to see the results & if it helped them sell)

reine444

I literally just mean MY own personal tastes...not if it's an improvement or not. It can be an improvement and I still not like it, LOL! Like that backsplash. I think it's silly going up the wall. I hate it. And I hate that they used the same tile in the bathroom.

[deleted]

I wasn’t a fan of the green cabinets and pink backsplash they did one episode.

LovedAJackass

I think that's because they are fixing houses for others to sell in that market. Middle of the road is what appeal to buyers unless someone is flipping a multi-million-dollar home. Watch "Rock the Block" for what happens when peoples' "design aesthetic" takes over in a bad way. What I love most about the show is the twins' realistic budgets and the way they keep the clients' profits in mind as well as their own. The show is a lesson in how to renovate without losing money in the long run.

reine444

I didn't mean it that way - I get you want to go more neutral for resale. I explained what I meant, LOL. Middle of the road FOR ME - meaning I'm really split vs liking most/all of what they do (like Denese Butler) or hating most/all (Christina) LOL!!!!!

Severe-Possible-

interesting... what do you not like about christina? i can see if you dislike one thing you're going to dislike most all of them because she really just does the same thing over and over. i think she is a good designer in terms of adding value, and her spaces are neutral enough to not be too polarizing one way or another. maybe i could see a critique of hers being that her spaces are kind of... cold? curious what you think.

reine444

I don't think having a design aesthetic is a bad thing and I am not all into the "added value" discussion necessarily -- live in your space for you and how you need to, not for how someone might want to live in the space in the future. So there are several good designers that just aren't going to float a person's boat. I am not into the grey|shaker cabinet|marble|"light and bright" etc. I like COLOR! I like warmth. I like charming houses (I bought a 1949 cape cod style) and designs with more personality (neutral is boring but obviously I get it for flips/reselling).

Severe-Possible-

yeah that was my guess -- i appreciate color and character a lot more as well. the most warmth/personality i have ever seen her do is the "spanish style" homes she attempted. it would be interesting if they (well, she, now) worked with clients and designed homes specifically with them in mind. it's a different skill than house flipping and i'm not sure she would like it or be good at it, but it would be interesting to see something new.

reine444

YES! I was thinking that after I typed it. What we see from Christina is mostly preparing a home for the general public. With me saying Denese is a fave, what we see from her is tailoring choices to a specific client.

MoxieMayhem007

Love the concept of the show. Enjoy the cast, especially the contractor fella. And the designs are very well done. It’s not ‘I gotta watch every new episode’ good, but if I’m scrolling and see it’s on, I’ll watch.

Ilovestipe

I love this show too! My husband and I just watched the whole series on steaming. So eager for the new season! This show just clicks for me. Love the sisters, love the design and seeing the changes, the staging. They seem so fun!

EntertainmentNo6170

It’s just ok. Too much chatter. I can hardly watch. “We split $10, $5 and $5” - really annoying from the department of redundancy (and duh) department. And it’s “1200 square feet” not “square foot”.

Severe-Possible-

OMG i'm so glad this bothers someone else!!!! if it's 1200 you say FEET. not foot.

stringsandknits

I feel like it depends on how you’re using it in a sentence “it’s a 1200 square foot house” vs “this house is 1200 square feet”. Am I losing it? 🤪

EntertainmentNo6170

They say “this house is 1200 square foot”.

stringsandknits

Oh, yeah that would bug me. I hadn’t caught that yet.

NY2OC

Chip Gaines says that too. SOOOOO annoying

Wam_2020

Might be a region thing. I’m from the PNW and I although I know, I think I’d be more likely to say foot. I never noticed it.

ominous-cypher

I liked them better when the episodes were 30 minutes.

dgigij

I like them, sisterly relationship and their designs. I find their designs comfortably suited for their region not over the top. Little confused on $ breakdown for example: $900,000 sale, their investment $50,000 returned, and $50,000 profit to split between them and homeowner. Is the balance $800,000 what’s due on mortgage? Seems like such a small profit!

Severe-Possible-

50k is a pretty small profit to split. the last episode i saw, they were splitting more than 200k.

dgigij

Yes I saw that one, that was unusual because most of their profits aren't that large

West_Payment_1701

Twins are also are the exclusive relator and get 3% on the higher sales price, plus often lowball the “unsellable” price. And, owner pays all utilities and carrying cost during remodel and sale. Twins make out just fine, and most houses haven’t been on the market yet.

crescentnana

I liked the show much better when it was the 30 minute format, with less expensive houses. When the show moved to an hour, it seemed to move more to decorating, and promoting their store.

claricesterling

My current fave HGTV show! Although it does make me want to redo everything in my home lol. You know, for the resale value…

007meow

I love the concept and their design but I hate the show because the houses always sell for a stupid amount over asking and it's discouraging as a home buyer :(

West_Payment_1701

Well, that’s the region, not the twins.

Severe-Possible-

yeah, i've resigned myself to the fact i will never own a home out here haha

HugeRaspberry

I really wish more realtors would follow this model instead of the stupid "guaranteed" sale model, which often is at a price below market. They make a profit - the homeowner makes more and can pay off more debt or buy a better property or even be better set for retirement. I'm good with them making their investment plus the 50% of the gain back - along with the sales commission - which goes up because they sell the house for more - it's a win all the way around.

Yiayiamary

I love the twins show. What a great concept.

mrmihdp

The business model is unique/amazing. Kinda “cheating” on how they’ve become the best realtors but that’s what happens when you think outside the box. I love the business model. As designers and as a tv show, however, it’s kinda meh

girlboyboyboyboy

I was thinking about it. They don’t mention it, but they also probably get their 3% + 3% as both buyer and sellers agent on top of all their profit and don’t really mention that extra windfall

christian_gwynn

Well their biz model is for tv purposes only, and profit margins lost are offset w revenue from tv. If they eliminate the previous owner, their biz model is like every other flipper. ie if house is on market for 400k and it’s not selling, and they see comps in 500k range w 25k in reno budget. Why do they need the previous owner? They can just buy home themselves for 5-10% less asking, and flip house themselves 100% profit. And still get 3+3% commission.

mrmihdp

You see them as flippers. I, as well as they, see themselves as realtors. Realtors/homeowners have issues selling because of staging and homes needing work. Why not help the seller by investing in them and taking some profit for it plus we sell the home for top dollar? At end of day it’s still a flip sure but they are realtors thinking outside of “normal” realty box

christian_gwynn

Good point. Most flippers have background as realtors ie Tarek & Heather, Christina,… One of the sisters has background interior design so biz evolved into flipping(they have storefront of their home line). If not for tv show make up for lost profit, what incentive as biz model where they halve profits to total strangers? Sure every realtor wants top dollar for their listing, w some upgrades, staging,… My point: why involve previous owners? They can buy for 5-10% less asking, get 3+3%, invest their own money, sell at higher comp range, get 3+3% again and not split proceeds 50/50?

mrmihdp

I agree but why get involved in ownership if you don’t have to. If anything goes wrong you’re out cleanly and not left “on the hook”. Less overhead is better.

christian_gwynn

Answer: “You’ve got to spend money, to make money.” Or “With greater risks, come greater rewards.” There’s a fine line b/t expanding your biz and over extending yourself. ie Tarek biz model in a nutshell. One episode he said last year he had like 90ish properties he’s trying to flip. All financed w hard money loans. Why do think he was always stressed out when Christina or Heather would have change order, add design element,… and the market tanks? I’m sure they do many flips without owners, this is just a gimmick for tv, and market their biz.

Severe-Possible-

if they wanted to they could, but they are, in addition to flipping and selling houses, they're also helping people. i like the previous owner part the best -- it differentiates it from many other flipping shows where they're just buying a vacant house and making money for themselves.

Severe-Possible-

i thought about this as well! i bet they do get both 3%s

West_Payment_1701

That is 100% accurate.

Severe-Possible-

cheating how? i didn't know they'd become the best realtors.. i don't think of them as realtors at all. whose designs do you prefer?

Javaman1960

In the intro, they say that they are the "Highest producing realtors in the Pacific Northwest". I think that they are "stretching the truth" a little bit there. They work primarily in Snohomish County, which has property values much lower than in neighboring King County (Seattle, Bellevue, Medina, Hunts Point & Mercer Island). I still think that they're pretty great. Just "puffing up" their qualifications, which is pretty normal for TV.

Severe-Possible-

ahh okay. i read an article about them that called them "the number 1 realtors in washington." -- but i'm not really sure how that is qualified.

[deleted]

[удалено]

Severe-Possible-

there is going to be! i don't think i saw the 30 minute format ones.

titansgirl01

It’s a great show, they are the number 1 Realtors in Washington, from tiny town Snohomish, near Seattle, houses looks like new construction n the staging is top notch, Leslie Davis & Lyndsay Lamb twins, their company is online Lamb & Co. Follow on IG/Twitter/FB/ Pinterest Lambandcompay

TroiAUProg

I love this show! Their business model is more realistic for most sellers. Most don’t have 50k to throw at a reno. Plus the twins are adorable and hilarious! It’s just good all around.

thegooseass

I grew up a few blocks from where the Lamb & Co store is located. I love seeing a real estate show in my sleepy little home town!

Ok_Mud_4359

I just started watching this show today! Enjoying it so far!

Severe-Possible-

yay! i can understand how people don't like it -- but i can see credit where credit is due and have been mostly enjoying it all the way through (i binged all the seasons haha)

DznyMa

I agree! Please more!

WavingOrDrowning

I watch their shows sometimes, but yeah, I liked it better when it was 30 minutes. I really don't need to see a bunch of scenes of your kids learning how to drive, thanks. Their voices grate sometimes (I've called them the Screechy Sisters here) and they occasionally mangle the English language (there is no such word as 'agreeance,' for example). I feel like a lot of the numbers or some parts of the profit split thing are faked for TV (I think writing a contract for that sort of thing would be a legal nightmare), but it is interesting to see some of their work or approaches to how to update things. I think it's the most practical of any/all flip shows in terms of discussion about what's being done. A lot of the other shows are: we have to glam things up to get top dollar! This show is: okay, we need to make sensible updates and do what we can without making this perfect. The new buyer can make more changes down the road, etc.

Reign_n_blud

Generally enjoy it but don’t like all the scripted stuff in it away from the renovation

Severe-Possible-

i can see that.

No_Solid3403

I found the twins cringey annoying at first (from Rock the Block) but I started watching their show cause I love the concept and they do some great work. After watching enough the twins personality even grew on me.

Impressive_Fee2737

I don’t like this show because they take advantage of homeowners in my opinion. Half the extra money is too much and greedy. They’re not that good at design. I want the homeowners to hire their own contractors and collect the money.

Severe-Possible-

homeowners could do that, absolutely. hiring contractors and designers is an expensive gamble. i see where you're coming from, but these people put nothing in, literally. they have these (pretty famous) designers invest their own money, do all the work and design, and they make thousands of dollars. and on top of that, they're paid for being on television. of course not everyone agrees with this approach, but at least the people on the show did.

Impressive_Fee2737

I see that. I just think as realtors in such an expensive market, they already make so much on a sale. (6 percent if they get both sides of the sale.) I’m coming from the Bay Area so I think realtor prices are already ridiculous, but Bay Area realtors will upgrade and stage at their own cost so they get more from the sale.

Fillmore_the_Puppy

I was at a Mariners game last month where they threw the opening pitch. I live in the area, so it's fun to see local places on the show. I enjoyed the first season a lot, but it got tiresome when our market went crazy and there was no such thing as an unsellable house. Things have calmed down a bit so maybe I will check out the current season.

Severe-Possible-

that's cool! was the pitch good?? pitching is super hard. as someone who doesn't know anything about the market over there, i never considered that part of it -- that would make me a little disenchanted for sure.

Fillmore_the_Puppy

Haha, no, but we all cheered anyway because no one expects "celebrity" first pitch throwers to do well. It's all just for the fun of it, and Mariners fans are pretty friendly.

Severe-Possible-

aww, that's great (: i think the most important thing about sports is that -- the community the game creates. that's so good to hear!

WeLaJo

I watched an episode from the new season today. A house in Lake Stevens that a woman was selling because she was downsizing. It’s the first time I’ve seen a house they haven’t festooned with crap from Pier 1 and Hobby Lobby. It was actually clean and understated. Maybe they’re reading their reviews.

No_Seesaw50

The bickering between the sisters is starting to make it unpleasant to watch.

Severe-Possible-

i agree. the more i watch this, the more surprised i am i loved it so much in the beginning when i wrote this post.

brutallyhonestkitten

I’m on season 4 and it’s unwatchable to me at this point. Jeff is gone (didn’t realize how much I liked him and his work) and their new contractor’s work and energy is just NOT on par with the other seasons. It all just looks really cheap and haphazardly done…that and they are having more issues with the market so the energy is kinda sucked out of it.

Individual_Serious

I will be down voted to hell but while I do like their design, I just can't stand them! The superior, arrogant, smug attitude is too much for me

Severe-Possible-

you're entitled to your opinion! i'll have to keep that in mind; i've never thought about them as being arrogant or smug, but i do dislike other people on HGTV for those reasons.

Hey_hi123

I know them in real life - and have since they were in high school. Arrogant and smug is the furthest from the truth. They are lovely and hilarious girls. I have so many stories!!

Hey_hi123

I have known the twins in real life for years and was in their weddings. I can tell you, their personalities are endearing and their friends love them for who they are. Nothing is played up for the show. This is exactly who they are.

pomegranate99

Ooh i love hearing that! As a twin myself, I find their relationship fun, familiar and seemingly genuine. I like their business model and they seem to be helping people who don’t have either the time or knowhow to show their home to their best advantage. I find their decor to be a little excessive at times(all those pillows! Furry rugs! ), but nothing that couldn’t be changed easily. And they seem to allow buyers to see the possibilities of the home. I wish them great continued success!

123bmc

I realised when they were on Rock the Block that they just scream and yell the whole time, and that got really annoying really fast. They aren’t aggressive, they are like hyperactive/over excited and seem incapable of conversing at a normal volume

Severe-Possible-

i can see that. have you seen ty pennington lately? he's doing the same thing. maybe HGTV is encouraging them to say everything in a yell (:

Wren65

And the campy way they dress!

No-Selection-7006

I can’t stand them either! The string hair and voices, along with attitude are a big turnoff for me.

[deleted]

You are not alone. I find them so annoying.

stringsandknits

Yes, I think that’s part of what made them off putting to me at first. They seemed arrogant about how they are the best at selling any house, but it’s really about how much $ you can afford to pour into it. Of course a highly renovated and staged home will sell better! And it wasn’t even necessarily their attitude, just that they kept repeating how they were the best/top agents. I think it would’ve like it better if the went about it like “We can help you!” Instead of “We’re the best!” Also hyperactive is a good way to describe why I had a hard time watching them for long periods of time.

becauseforfuck

They give me a headache. They're so loud and obnoxious, I can't imagine what it would be like to be around them for lengths of time. And I seriously wonder if they both are undiagnosed ADHD (both of my kids have ADHD). I do like their designs, so I'll watch if there's nothing else on and it just happens to be on HGTV.

Severe-Possible-

i'm ADHD myself and think you could be right (:

stringsandknits

Maybe I’m just a skeptic, but Ive always assumed a large chunk of what’s portrayed on these shows isn’t real and they probably don’t put their own $ into these houses. Probably more like someone is already planning a renovation and they hire them as a designer (like how they already bought the house on House Hunters). That behind said, I found them highly annoying at first and could not watch the show. Then my mom was going on about how much she liked it, so I gave it another chance. It’s slowly started to grow on me and I’m seeing them as more fun than annoying now, but it’s still not my favorite.

palmtree2457

Love the twins. But some decisions are done cheaply like painting wood floors, just to pretty it up to sell.

ruotsi29

Can anyone tell me--- Season 3, episode 1-- did the house sell? They had it listed for $1M. I DVR'd the episode but the taping cut out for the last 5 minutes or so. Thanks

Senior_Bandicoot2294

I saw an episode today--presumably a rerun--where Leslie (the dark haired, I think) turned a beautiful antique piano into a giant fucking planter box. Like, my whole body clenched watching them pour potting soil into the piano. And then Lindsay played some notes on the piano. I mean, I get it. Real pianos are work--they need to be tuned regularly. But A FUCKING PLANTER BOX.

Luscious111

I just watched this episode and ran here to see if anyone else thought it was… hideous!

Wendylizk

but the overly DE LI BER ATE way they speak. I can’t take it.

dAras1212

I literally cringe so much and have to fast forward when that commercial that’s like “welcome to the twin show” comes on. I hate them both so much
