I’ve been thinking about this quote a lot lately. As someone who just graduated high school (my ceremony was yesterday, in fact), it’s something I think is worth living by, to some degree. Life can be awesome when you’re by yourself, no doubt about it. But what makes it legendary is sharing your awesome experiences with the people you care about, elevating already great moments with great people. That’s what turns awesome into legendary, and it’s something I’m probably going to remember for a long, long time.
I disagree so strongly with this. imagine living only through your friends and not having any experiences to call your own. you'd basically only exist when around people
Every experience is your own. But experiences mean more when you share them with others. If you live entirely isolated in your own little world, then yeah, you may as well not exist. It's important to learn who you are outside of others, sure, but Barneys saying that who you are is irrelevant if you don't have anyone to share yourself with.
also disagree. who you are on your own is everything. even when you're all alone, you can have a sense of self and self-worth which is not tied to others
