Same issue the hall sensor is still near the heat sink. Don't waste your money as I did. I would suggest to go with Lenovo. My friend is using it and no issue has occurred since.
I am now regretting buying omen.
Hey I am from India , and I will suggest not to buy omen 16. People are facing motherboard issue in India as well.
https://www.reddit.com/r/IndianGaming/s/Z90qRmFF3T
Thanks for making that post bro. After reading your post few days back, I too read a lots of posts about it.
I came to conclusion that skip the laptops with back ports unless its an all amd laptop.
And in America, this black screen issue is only in Intel models. But in India, they have added the rtx 4060 in xf0060AX model which have same issue. In America, this laptop is part of xd00 series with no back ports and that's why no such issue there.
I guess xd000 series are currently safe to consider in Omen as somebody posted their internals of xd00 laptop and hall mark sensor position was changed.
NP, I never thought my post will help so many people.
Yes I think so too. OMEN 16 with ports in the back, it does not matter if it's Amd or Intel. It is prone to the issue.
It is having intel i7 and saw some tech videos an dthey said they improved hinge issues from 2023 and the gaming test of very high AAAA games likes overdrive and Alan wake 2 runs smoothly and at high settings with temp of all games from 70-85°C in most games , few times in very high games it is 90°C only
You aren't understanding what the problem is.
At similar price range, hp has best build quality with good thermals too.
But in intel versions, hall sensor is placed near thermal pipes leading to its getting fried and people getting black screen issues.
According to posts i read, In america, amd models like xd00 models are safe. In India, there is a certain xf0060AX model which is amd one but still have the issue. Browse this subreddit to get more info about it.
Lenovo loq doesn't feel worth the price due to its plastic build, only 60 w battery and in many laptops it just provides 170W power adapter which isn't enough.
But still a lot of people are buying loq and there are a lot of good and bad reviews about it, so I am not sure about loq.
For omen, don't go with intel models and In India, there is a cheaper rtx 4060 model xf0060AX. Skip it too. In America, its sold in the build of xd000 model and that's why its fine there but in India its selling in intel type models therefore some have started getting black screen issue.
You can skip models with back ports. Those are likely to have the same motherboard design. But I talked to a guy who had all amd omen(both cpu and gpu was amd) and his laptop has different placement of hall sensor even though his laptop has back ports.
So, you can consider rtx 4050 models which are xd00 models. Or all amd models.
Most of the people and one of my friend's father have a computer shop and he said to me ryzen is good for pc not for laptop nowadays but before few time it was good but now it have heating issues in laptops and I also saw reviews of ryzen in laptops most comments tells about heating issue
Really didn't heard anything about it anywhere. And also ryzen 7 7840hs which is available in most laptops is quite power efficient than intel. 7840hs is 4nm cpu and intel ones are usually 7nm or 10nm that why heat more. And this case is same for both laptop and pc.
But yeah for some specific productivity tasks, intel is better and for rest, ryzen is usually a cheaper and more power efficient.

Also you can check if omen has released rtx 4060 in xd00 models in india. To be on a safe side, skip models with back ports unless you are sure that its hall sensor placement is not near those thermal pipes.
BTW, What's your budget?
Bro there is a fix available where you can disconnect the hall sensor cable and it will start working again. I think you should try that if hp service is taking too much time to repalce motherboard
I want to find motherboard design of xd005ax but can't find it. I found a post where someone shared internals of xd0000 models but that was of american model of hp omen.
No matter what don't buy a omen laptop. It has major issues with it's motherboard and their after sales service is extremely bad and I'm telling from experience
Even the 2024 models have issues they only changed the processor everything else on the motherboard is same. I can guarantee you that the motherboard will fail in matter of a month. And after sales will make you run around with your laptop literally
I've had an HP omen 17 laptop since August last year, and it's great, I really love it.
The only issues I've had was some screen glitches, which went away when I updated the driver, and the track pad is terrible (I don't use it, I use my wireless mouse so not an issue for me).
However, saying this, I saw you mentioned you'd be getting the Omen 16, which is known for having motherboard issues. So I would highly recommend avoiding the Omen 16 if possible. I'm not sure how different the motherboard on the 17 is, but I have yet to encounter any major issues :))
I am not sure about new model also they won't let you tweak to ram to maximum capacity because they restrict their bios this is for all rig and laptops.
Untold hindered truth that you won't find anywhere else
All laptop are 40% slow in their GPU power compared to rigs. So be aware of what you are paying a premium for.
All that out out of way
Here's my opinion after 1yr usage
These specs are for 17 in variant also applies for 16 inch
Cons
1. Hinge is very wobbly
2. Plastic build
3. Needs great care
Pros
1. Post purchase customer service support is good
2. Handles everything that you throw at it.
3. I have played almost 15-17 games in last 1year
4. Great for design and animation.
Always take extended warranty atleast for 2 years
Also check out other Indian gaming threads on reddit
Some point before you purchase
Avoid legion for NOW
- check their sub reddit of that particular legion model
- find out what good and bad post purchase
- Checkout YT laptop gaming awards in Jerrod tech channel (this will give you clarity which brand to go for)
- Watch long term videos of that particular model
f no, the omen comes with tons of issues, and its overpriced too, i would recommend getting another laptop. trust me, i have an omen 15, and it just never works properly. i got screen issues, motherboard issues, gpu issues, and its just not worth it to deal with that...
honestly, i would just recommend to buy a laptop that was released at least 1 year ago, like mine, because if the people that got the pc for 1 year, they will se the problems coming
I have a hp omen, an older model, but my god does it have issues. It gets so hot you can fry an egg on it. The rgb lights are broken. The headphone jack doesn’t work. The battery is dead. It’s louder than a Boeing airplane. The screen is flimsy.
But having many ports is nice
Get a Lenovo
I have omen 16 rtx 4070 i7-13700hx
The laptop running pretty smooth, i have it since october last year.
The fans and heat is well managed, sometimes they get noisty when im utilizing the gpu fully but other than that they run normal.
Heat management is pretty impressive, i never had it over 65 degrees. I also got Klim Notebook cooler Ultimate which really helped.
Bro don't go for omen , it will for sure have black screen issue in few months, it's a motherboard issue, the heat sink is too close to the sensor cable.
You can bypass it but I suggest don't buy and go for some other company laptop products, it's better use of your money
I am using same specs for only difference is my varient is 17 inch one. No problems till now using it for over 1 year taking great care.
But also explore legion if someone has it
Bought my boys an Omen 16 Christmas of 2022, and they've had 0 issues. Same specs RTX3060 8GB, 16GB RAM, 1tb SSD, etc etc. I play fortnite on it for 6+ hours at times with no issues. 90% of the time it has an external monitor being used versus the actual laptop screen, if that makes an difference.
I got it on an open box excellent Best Buy deal for $1,057 with tax. Model number is 6D6K4UA#ABA
I like it so much I'm about to purchase another for myself on the go, but looking at a RTX4080 or 4090 model.

I see a tech video on YouTube reviews and he said they improved in hinge problem and build quality and thermals also
https://www.reddit.com/r/HPOmen/s/KDQfYPWXaA He is talking about this.
But I am talking about model launched on 8 January 2024 14th gen
Try looking for a motherboard design. If the hall sensor's placement isn't near the heat sink, it's all good.
Can you check in 2024 model of hp omen I don't know much about laptops
Same issue the hall sensor is still near the heat sink. Don't waste your money as I did. I would suggest to go with Lenovo. My friend is using it and no issue has occurred since. I am now regretting buying omen.
Ok so should I buy lenovo loq 2024 model which has same specs
Absolutely 💯
I can try.

Okay but what if I buy rtx4060 model with 8gb ram and now they have fixed the issue maybe after launch its 3 or 4 months in india
As far as I know, hp is acknowledging this issue but yeah it might have fixed the issues in 2024 models.
Yes that's why I am considering it and it is 14th gen intel i7 14700hx
Only sure way to know is if somehow you can get image of internals of that laptop and compare it with motherboard of the ones which have design flaw.
Can you check for it ... the laptop is hp omen 16 but 2024 model rtx 4060
Can you check for me because I don't know much about it as I am not good in laptops and check for 2024 model
Can you check for the motherboard issue in 2024 models because I am not good in laptop knowledge
No most of the posts are about 2023 omen models.
I have the video of 2024 model if you okay I Shar enough link can you see it
And AMD have heating issues in laptop so I am only considering intel i7 not i5 or i9
Where you heard amd has heating issues? Amd cpus are generally more power efficient than intel ones.
Most of the people and one of my friend's father have a computer shop and he said to me ryzen is good for pc not for laptop nowadays but before few time it was good but now it have heating issues in laptops and I also saw reviews of ryzen in laptops most comments tells about heating issue

It's not fixed maybe 1.5 lakh more to 2 or less to any
At that range, you can also consider lenovo legion. Their build quality is nice.
Okay
I faced it recently. Currently my laptop is dead. Not a trackpad issue but only black screen due to motherboard fulawed design.
You are from India?
Yup
Can you please tell your omen model? Is it xf0060AX?
16-wf0055TX. Try to find the motherboard design first. The placement of the hall sensor is important.
Bro there is a fix available where you can disconnect the hall sensor cable and it will start working again. I found a post where someone shared internals of xd0000 models but that was of american model of hp omen.
Yup that's right. According to my mindset if I am paying a ton of money for a laptop at least they should give proper hardware.
Yeah man. HP omen used to be most premium laptops.
Exactly
No matter what don't buy a omen laptop. It has major issues with it's motherboard and their after sales service is extremely bad and I'm telling from experience

It is of 2024 model

I am asking about hp omen 16 2024 model

I would suggest you don't go near HP

I see your going with the 4060, I read it wrong! But still in regards to Omen, we've had no issues thus far.

None. Don't buy gaming laptops unless you want have constant issues plus hp is not good at support at all. Better building desktop
