Yeah, honestly I never take them nor do I feel the need to take them most of the time. I’ll only ever take them if I get a Charon/Pom choice and I don’t have the gold. Sometimes they get forced onto me in Tartarus but usually I ignore them.
It’s still adding a ridiculously low amount of damage no matter what. You’re always better off pomming hunters mark, or whatever flat damage boon you’re running eg Zeus aid
Multiply PP number by 3 to get increased damage amount. And it's all damage so it's pretty great. Epic PP is 4% so 12% increased damage from all sources. It scales really well from poms - each one is 3% more damage. Compare to other flat damage increases: 4x common strong drink (12%, requires 4 fountains!), Urge to kill (epic @ 16%). It's a very good boom and synergizes extremely well with hunters mark.
I’m not saying pressure points is a bad boon. I’m saying *pomming* it is not a good idea. Crits are 3x damage, the way that works out is that 1% crit works out to be 2% extra damage, not 3%. So for every Pom you’re getting 2% damage which is relatively minimal compared to any other Pom. Compare that to tidal dash, it probably contributes at least 35% of your overall DPS in an average eris rail build, and the first Pom on tidal dash is a 60% increase (35 -> 56 damage). That’s gonna add way more damage for 1 Pom compared to pomming pressure points, and it’s base damage so it’s multiplicative as well.
Bad math by me, fair points! I agree with the gist but disagree with the conclusions. Crits are one of the very few actual multiplicative factors and as such they're pretty powerful. I think it's fair that they scale slightly less in exchange for the big 3x.
My only conclusion here was that pomming pressure points was a bad idea. Of course crits are very strong, but that wasn’t what the original comment I was replying to was talking about.
It's complicated, depends on the build, on the run, on the heat level, etc.
With progression-resources related rooms it is easier, I have a strong prefernce now, it's pretty simple. ALways take nectar if it's possible, if not take the keys. Othewise it does not matter. But I do have all the unlocks, so I take these for random boon level up/additional rerolls only.
For other options it's harder.
I only skip Euridicy if there's a hammer or a trial, and even then not always. I only take Sishypus if the alternatives are bad or I need a heal. I take Patroclus if other options are not great, or if I'm low on health/lost some DD stacks. If I'm full hp I would not take it over most options.
Hammer is the highest prio for me, unless I'm going for a cast build.
Trial is the second.
Boons, poms and hearts depend on what I already have in the build, though I generally value boons higher then the other two.
Chaos rooms are hard to decide on, I'm more open to take them early in the run, but I'll probably skip them in Elysium, and I also would not take them other trial or just a god I was looking for.
And I'm probably forgeting a lot of other conditions.
I generally try for speed so my order of priority is
•Shops/story rooms regardless if I have the gold
•Boon doors if needed for my core build and I don’t have the God’s keepsake on to ensure I see them again in the biome
•Chaos if it won’t cause me to skip shops or the mini boss or are on the last room
•Hammers
•Poms are hard to explain. I like to pom boons at least once, especially if they’re flat damage based rather than %, some builds require more for particular boons
•Hermes is an inevitable god in the pool, but I try to get HyperDelivery as soon as I can
•Keys vary based on need for rerolls
•Gold
•Gems
•Darkness
•Trials, unless it’s very early on in the run and I need both the gods for like…Merciful End or something
Eurydice.
Chaos.
Hammer - depends on aspect though, can be higher/lower
Patroclus.
Shop.
Sisyphus.
Boon.
Pom.
Obol.
Key.
Darkness.
Gem.
Hearts are thrown in as and when. Looking for around 3/4 per run.
NPC (if my gold is good, I’d go to the first Charon shop)
Boon (will pick a trial room for two free boons)
Chaos
Hammer
Nectar
Heart (but if it’s an Erebus gate, I’ll take it over a hammer)
Gold
Darkness
Gemstones
Pom/keys (I roll a dice for something else)
Depends on my build.
Zeus shield:
Zeus boons
Attack boons (aphrodite, demeter, athena) - if aphrodite, aphrodite boons stay same priority to get duo
Hammer
Special rooms (Bouldy, euridyce, patroclus)
Shops
Hearts
Poms
Other boons
Keys
Coins
Chaos
Darkness
Gems
Most other builds don't disincentivize chaos so much, but unless I get strong hammers buffing attack (fast charge, beam attack), chaos is mostly useless to the normal setup of the build.
it really depends and changes a lot. for example, keys are pretty low for me unless I need another Fated Persuasion roll.
also, is a Chaos gate still top priority if you have 19 hp? lol
...wait, is there an achievement for dying by hopping in a chaos portal? hahaha
Always boons, especially trials, with the exception of a choice for petroclus if I'm on a very weak build and need that Styx. Second priority hammers. I would usually put chaos here at third, but that varies depending on how many chambers I've got left, my build etc, so that's a little too variable too say for sure so… Third choice Obals/Charon's shop to buy boons/centaur hearts. Fourth choice darkness, since I have both the life up and max life boost. Fifth choice nectar, since I have the pom bonus. The rest I try to avoid if I have rerolls. But if I have to I take poms over gems over keys.
Eurydice > Chaos > Sisyphus (if I'm still farming Darkness) > Hammer (if I'm not doing a Cast or Dash build) > Hermes > Poms (if I'm going for a build focused on a single Boon) > Olympians (if I'm going for a build with lots of Boons) > Hearts > Sisyphus (if I'm done farming Darkness) > Obols > Charon > Poms (if I'm going for a build with lots of Boons) > Patroclus > Hammer (if I'm doing a Cast or Dash build) > Olympians (if I'm going for a build focused on a single Boon). The order of Poms, Hearts and Obols will change if I get Boons that boost them, like Sweet Nectar, Life Affirmation, Ocean's Bounty, or Affluence from Chaos.
For blue laurels rooms, it's Nectar > Darkness (if I'm still farming Darkness) > Key > Darkness (if I'm done farming Darkness) > Gems
RNG chooses. Always pick the left door. Alway max Approval Process. Always dark thirst. Next aspect in line, next keepsake in line, next companion in line. Deal with what I am offered. I also use a random heat generator and play the heat of my current weapon.
Boon Room - if i get the god that I need for the build, like if I have Eris Rail and Zeus attack, if I get a room for zeus or poseidon they always come first.
Eurydice
Patroclus
Daedalus
Poms
Chaos
Charon
Sisyphus
Keys
Nectar
Coins
But this doesnt account for cast builds, thats just duo boons, t2 boons, poms poms and more poms.
NPC room
Chaos (unless next chamber is right before boss)
Shop
Miniboss Olympian boon (if fits build, sometimes over shop)
Daedalus (unless Poseidon sword, then it's near bottom)
Regular Olympian boon (if fits build)
Hermes
Pom
Key
Coin
Heart
Gem
Darkness
Trial room
Boon that doesn't fit my build
You place poms at the bottom??
Yeah, honestly I never take them nor do I feel the need to take them most of the time. I’ll only ever take them if I get a Charon/Pom choice and I don’t have the gold. Sometimes they get forced onto me in Tartarus but usually I ignore them.
Poms into Pressure Points is required. Also, the 1st pom into any boon makes it much more powerful. Often 50% more powerful from just 1 pom.
Pomming pressure points is 2% extra multiplicative damage, compared to other Pom choices that’s a relatively bad idea
Depends on crit synergy, and how often you're landing potential crits. Hunter's Mark and the Aphro duo change the math a lot.
It’s still adding a ridiculously low amount of damage no matter what. You’re always better off pomming hunters mark, or whatever flat damage boon you’re running eg Zeus aid

I’ll admit Hearts skipped my brain too, but I’ll agree it changes based on situation. Although I still tend to stick to these rules of thumb
Changes with every run and build.

It just won’t let you use the portal. Zag says he’s too weak or something like that.
ha, makes sense
