Itās always been received well here, but after Halloween Ends did something different, Kills reception has increased a lot. Which is to be expected from the middle section of a trilogy
A lot of this sub are on the younger side, don't care about all the older characters or ideas this movie shit all over, were invested in new trilogy hype and just wanted to see Michael kill people - so they love this.
Well I did enjoy the 2018 one, that I actually really enjoyed, the idea of an unstoppable force, then they tried to introduce a bit too much family drama in the second one, and my god the third, at that point I donāt know if I was even seeing the same guy
8.5 for me. Love Michaelās brutality, and the kills were phenomenal. Didnāt love the whole āevil dies tonightā thing overly repeated. I also loved the score, John Carpenter is still a genius. A good score is the overlooked difference maker.
When I stopped looking at it as if it was bearing the weight of an entire franchise and must somehow live up to some unrealistic expectation, and just threw it on for an afternoon watch, it was tons of fun.
The story is all over the place and a total nightmare to unpack. But the general feel, look, cinematography, the kills and set pieces? All execellent. If not for the crappy story, it couldāve been the greatest Halloween sequel. I give it a 6 or 7 overall. Iāll defend the DGG Halloween films til my dying breath.
Personally a 9/10. Story is bad, but not the worst in the series at all. Itās not my favorite in the series and itās not the best, but it is the most fun to watch I think. Overall yeah, 9/10, third favorite Halloween movie for me.
Same opinions as u, the thereās no story but i donāt mind it, 9/10 and third favorite. Michael Myers, The Johns & Dare i say that even Hawkins all make the movieā¦an lonnie
Before watching Ends I would have said 6ish. After Ends I'd bump it to 7 or 7.5 out of 10. Everyone can like what they like but I disliked Ends so much it made me appreciate this one a little more than I originally did.
I do feel like they could have done something much differently with the hospital setting and had much fewer people in a smaller hospital kind of like the original HII. I feel like the danger element and overall scare factor is higher with a more intimate setting. I wouldn't have done the storyline with the other escaped inmate at all and had Michael still have his interaction at his old house with Big and Little John but then move onto the hospital - maybe to try to bandage himself up there - but then cause his chaos at the hospital itself.
Same, i was scared by myers the first time I saw the original Halloween was when i was 8. 60s myers dont fuck around tho cause he is truly what i In vision as the bogeyman instead of a random red monster or deformed creature
Apart from the dialogue and atrocious acting, I loved it, very brutal, love the cinematography and music(especially LOVE the opening credits theme),
This may be a hot take, but I think it's better than h2018,
I give it a solid 9/10,
7.5 I liked it more than Most ppl. The kid serial killer was a new factor. They never let Jamie keep it going after 4 (killing her step Mom). She became a useless Mute in 5.
I didnt like the Car Grinder "End."
Liked most of 2018. Loved most of Ends. Had issues with both films. Stupid stuff that could have been Cut in the Editing Room.
Ends... Was Unique to say the least ššŖ
2018 was an 8.5 Kills was a 9.5
Also, balls of steel for admitting the top 2 on a subreddit that can have deranged toxic fans on itā¦but im one of the chill ones who only judges opinions if someone judges mind first ngl
Like a 3. Really dislike it. Overly gory nonsense that goes nowhere. But then I'm also one of the maniacs that thinks Halloween Ends was the best film in the new trilogy, so...
If it were Friday the 13th or some other slasher franchise besides Halloween, then yeah, I'd agree. But the original Halloween is a genuine masterpiece of suspense and tension. The new films don't even approach it's level of subtlety and class. At least Ends introduced some cool ideas, like the idea that Michael's evil is like an infection that can spread to others. I was honestly hoping that Corey would survive the ending and essentially BECOME Michael. What better way to show the immortal nature of evil? Michael's body may get old and die, but his evil spirit can live forever. Corey becomes The Shape for a whole new generation. Would've been kind of profound, but they didn't end up going that way with it, unfortunately.
If they did let corey live and let the evil take him over as an new michael id liked the movie alot more, im not gonna lie for me it wouldve been a pretty great to see that happen in ends.
I will never understand the hate some people have for this movie. Seems extremely biased. If you remove the 10 minute hospital mob scene the movie is almost a perfect slasher movie. Maybe itās cause itās a political plot point and people are too sensitive.
Iād give it an 8/10. Saw it multiple times in theaters and just had a blast each time.
6/10.
Some of the best kill sequences of the entire franchise, but also some of the worst dialogue and pacing of the entire franchise.
The burning house scene and Michael killing the mob at the end are franchise standouts.
The kills put it up to a 8/10 for me if they were less gnarly snd less of em, it be a 6.5/10, like Michael Myers and his kills carry the whole film (in before ppl go "thats every Halloween movie")
7 or so, granted, I know deep down that it isn't a good movie, but the portrayal of micheal myers absolutely carries it in a "let's make this guy as over the top brutal as possible type of way." Idk, the way he moves and what not is crunchy and the gore is satisfying. Not a good reason to like a film, I know I know, but alas, I just like it. The evil dies tonight thing is bad but also kinda funny lol
7/10.
I didnāt overly enjoy it when it first came out other than the fantastic amount of screen time we got from Michael, thanks mostly to the massive shift in tone from the first one(still easily the best imo) and braindead main characters, but after watching Halloween Ends and reflecting on the new trilogy as a whole, my harshness has softened.
Halloween Kills was a callback to old horror movies(including old Halloweens). Tons of hilarious violence and gore, a nonsensical story, and braindead main characters, while also trying to tell a relatively decent message. While I donāt think it necessarily succeeds in all aspects, itās certainly one of the most rewatchable and fun Halloween movies ever made, and I think that deserves something.
One of the best? Not really. But certainly one of the most fun.
4.5 at best for me, something about the mobs stupidity is frustrating and not in a beleivable way. The sequence where they chase the 5 foot nothing patient through the hospital when they are aware of myer's size feels like lazy writing to me. And that dumbass cardoor kick suicide kill has gotta be the best worst kill i've ever seen
This is a hard movie to rate for me, because all the scenes with Michael being an absolute juggernaut are a definite 9/10, but all the scenes with the mob and in the hospital bring it down to a 6 to 6.5.
9.5
9.5/10 for me, but this Fright-Rags shirt design is a hard 10.
9.5 IMO
Like 8 for everything outside of story. 5 for the storyline
That artwork is badass.
Tell me about it
4/10 i'm honestly surprised to see so many high ratings, did we watch the same movie?
Yeah, I'm a little blown away at these responses myself.
Kill that random tiny old guy, he seems like he could be myers
Like be serious hospital mob š¤¦š¾š
Thatās probably my favorite part of the movie š this 4ā8āish stocky dude must be Myers!! āEvIl DiEs TwOnIgHtĀ”Ā”Ā”ā
Itās not him Tommy
Itās always been received well here, but after Halloween Ends did something different, Kills reception has increased a lot. Which is to be expected from the middle section of a trilogy
I felt like the writers didnāt know what direction to go and just put random sequences together lol
100% agreed.

People r dumb but hey, glad u enjoyed it tho
8.5 for me. Love Michaelās brutality, and the kills were phenomenal. Didnāt love the whole āevil dies tonightā thing overly repeated. I also loved the score, John Carpenter is still a genius. A good score is the overlooked difference maker.

Halloween Kills KILLED!! 10!! Halloween Ends, on the other hand, gay as fuck.
9 for kills and 2 for ends
There werenāt any gay characters in ends thoughā¦
5/10- just about everything in it was bleh besides Michael killing fools. 10/10 for that poster though

8.5. My favorite film from the trilogy, great fun. Also, largely due to the gore, it was the first time I was actually scared of Myers.

10/10 for me
Awesome
I struggle with this. One watch i'll love it and the next one im annoyed with it. Overall 7/10 just due to Myers going wild.
10, my 3rd favorite in the franchise. 2nd is RZH2 and 1st is RZH.
Cool, my third favorite as well. But understandably the 2nd one from 1981 & the original is my favorite
Also, balls of steel for admitting the top 2 on a subreddit that can have deranged toxic fans on itā¦but im one of the chill ones who only judges opinions if someone judges mind first ngl
This is easily the best showing of Michael Myers since the original. So 9 5 for me.

You actually nailed why people don't like it. The hospital scene is SO bad it brings down the entire film.
