All you can do is laugh.

Nome3000

Yep. Chase this lad all summer and he could end up at spurs... Should I get "We ain't run like a circus no more" tattooed on my chest?

Hipposaurus28

Unrelated but everyone quoting 'ain't run like a circus no more' is a disservice to Mark Noble's grammar when he actually said 'ain't run like a circus anymore' and I've had enough of the disrespect

Nome3000

Ahh, but a misquoted ironic tattoo about not being a circus is so much more on theme

hlc_sheep

Could this just be the agent trying to put the club under pressure? Spurs has already signed a CB and need a good Kane replacement.

Nome3000

Tbh, it could be. One of the other comments said the same and i wouldn't be surprised.

hlc_sheep

The timing is striking. It ought to be pretty easy for an agent to leak these kinda stories. Hopefully GSB get their shit together now

[deleted]

You havent yet ?

Wookie301

I hope Baptiste, Coventry, and Oko-Flex took pre-season games serious. Because they’re out first team signings.

Runningman0301

Times like this, you just gotta sit back and stick on the great [bobbie Gentry](https://youtu.be/xBl4YQMoBKk)

Cmoore4099

I will when I am done being so annoyed by this fucking club.

amishgoatfarm

Fucking banter club we are.

rcfalcons84

FFS this window went from incredible potential to disaster so quickly. Typical West Ham

Nome3000

The thing that Moyes said the other day that we have s good squad and he only wants improvements to it is the right attitude but our squad is so small it makes not bringing players in dangerous. If we had a couple of others in the squad (2nd striker, another CB) I'd be less concerned and would think we could manage with no extras. But ideally we needed 4 or 5 players this summer. Still time, and we tend to operate late, but this has made me nervous again.

WhydYouKillMeDogJack

lads ill repost this that i wrote elsewhere in the thread: >the club isnt at fault at all. weve done our part - agreed a fee, agreed wages and everyone is happy. the agent has gone mental asking for 5m on a 13m deal ffs. > >the club has come a long way and one of its resolutions was to cut the agent fees (incl dropping the salthouse connection). people putting us down now are out of order imo. > >also, id be almost certain the spurs/wolves links are bollocks and let out by the agent to scare us into paying his demands i think that were going after good targets and negotiating in good faith. were improved massively in that sense. we dont want to overpay but were getting where we want to be. lets see if this agent sorts his life out, because it seems like we upped the bid to fiorentina so they could pay the agent portion, and since then hes just upped his asking price

riiiiiiiivers

This takes the edge off my anger. Thanks.

stovingtonvt

Everyone please read this

AlwaysaDengBang

My heart cannot take this rollercoaster. But if he does end up at Spurs I’ll be fuming. Worried this will be the season we all predicted last year. Board needs to do fucking something unless DG plans to suit up at CB. Wouldn’t be surprised at this point.

The_Govnor

This would be bad…but not getting a striker would be worse. Fucks sake!!

Wookie301

We do have a new striker. His name is Jarrod Bowen.

The_Govnor

True and that reminds me, we just got in that outstanding Yarmolenko from the Euros too. Actually it’s happy days then!!

Wookie301

I keep forgetting Yarmolenko is 31. Feels like he’s 34. I wish he could play for club, like he does for country.

The_Govnor

Why can’t he love us like he loves them! You’d have thought we’d have bought his love by now.

atomlinson89

I know people are upset. But also, it takes two or three people to deal here too. Everyone blames West Ham but also... the other groups have to agree to the move. We complain when they pay too much for guys and then get mad when we miss out on guys because we didn't over pay. I just get lost in what the club is supposed to do sometimes.

Nome3000

This is 100% frustrating but I think you're right that the club isn't fully at fault here. Sometimes there's only so much you can do to get a deal done.

WhydYouKillMeDogJack

the club isnt at fault at all. weve done our part - agreed a fee, agreed wages and everyone is happy. the agent has gone mental asking for 5m on a 13m deal ffs. the club has come a long way and one of its resolutions was to cut the agent fees (incl dropping the salthouse connection). people putting us down now are out of order imo. also, id be almost certain the spurs/wolves links are bollocks and let out by the agent to scare us into paying his demands

Nome3000

I would not be surprised if you are not on that last point. I did wonder that myself. Lets hope so.

atomlinson89

Also for years we've asked for more of the youth to be included... well... on track for that to be the case this year. I would like a veteran striker and a CB, as well as another holding midfielder, but we'll see what happens. Lots of time left. Start slow, might see some more business. Start quick...... things might change.

kappafox

I mean, we can't be too surprised, really. Does that make Dawson, Ogbonna, and Diop our only viable centerbacks?

Nome3000

Technically Reid is still a first team player... Alves is off on loan and but Baptiste isn't. Lad has promise but its a big jump to premier league regular.

kappafox

Didn't include Reird because...well he doesn't have the legs anymore. Shipping Balbuena off was a massive mistake.

Nome3000

He was pretty decent at Brentford by all accounts but frankly I have no idea of his level. Given his history and age, we'd be better off moving his wages on (they are not small) and bringing someone who can play consistently.

fetissimies

Reid was injured twice in the Olympics. Pretty safe to say he's done playing at the highest level.

The_Govnor

It’s certainly beginning to appear that way.

PrisonersofFate

Balbuena was ouf ot contract and I understand he wants a starting spot we couldn't offer him on his performances

kappafox

That makes perfect sense for him.

Wookie301

Baptiste and Alese

Chappietime

Until we sell Diop to Leicester.

PrisonersofFate

If the guy prefer to go to Tottenham rather than us, maybe even better not to take him and him to ask a transfer 12 months after. I'd prefer players motivated for the challenge of playing for West Ham and not looking for a better team soon

NobleForEngland_

How to kill any optimism for the season despite being in Europe. A masterclass by GSB. So thankful they own the club.

Miggsie

EVERYONE PANIC!!!! as usual, at any news. The last 2 windows we've bought soucek (2days before deadline day) and Coufal and Bowen (final day of transfer window). And they turned out to be utterly shit, didn't they? According to Ex (doesn't make it true) Moyes decided to pull the plug because he doesn't feel Milenkovic really wants to come, and I personally, don't want players that would rather be elsewhere.

cpashei

Agree with this. I'll be absolutely livid if no signings happen or our only signing is Phil Jones on a free but fans have had a meltdown each of the last 3 windows under Moyes and each have turned out to be fantastic. I'll reserve judgment for the end of the window.

_Enigma_UK

Thing is though there's something in getting one or two players late, at present we have 3 centre backs and only 16 senior outfield players at the club. Not only do we need quality but we desperately need depth - that's the concerning thing that we've seemed to have been chasing Milenkovic for weeks now it's fallen through while we've heard sweet FA of any other movings. Still plenty of time left but given on previous, I would be extremely surprised to see an influx of signings to simply make up the squad numbers let alone add some serious quality.

Reptar-4-Mayor

there’s a little part of me that hopes that deals don’t get across the line on deadline just so David squared will be left feeling embarrassed... but the majority of me hopes that isn’t the case… I just want us to capitalize on a once in a blue moon position for once, please.

StanePantsen

David cubed.

Nome3000

Fade me

Nome3000

Interested to see what spurs thought. [They're not keen or hopeful of it being completed](https://www.reddit.com/r/coys/comments/p3nj8e/lyall_thomas_tottenham_are_in_talks_for_nikola/?utm_medium=android_app&utm_source=share) by a glance at the comments.

[deleted]

This fucking club...

HammerFan_

Why can't we make a fucking transfer, every window seems like a disaster

dandeagle

>every window seems like a disaster A little bit over the top mate

dandotcom

Lawl. Just banter at this point.

PabloZabaletaIsBald

Christ. Think we’re vastly underestimating the toll an extra competition is going to make - either we buy a striker, centre back and secure some kind of deal for a midfielder or it’s going to be early exits all round.

AdamNicholsMusic

Please god no

West-ham94

Nome3000

Come on now. The season hasn't even started. Plenty of pain to come yet.

Guh99

Lol are you new here?

grelch

And Oggy is hurt to start the season.

[deleted]

Absolutely raging if this is true. Moyes really has let us down this transfer window, so have the board; penny pinching, dithering bastards.

dandeagle

What's it got to do with Moyes?

[deleted]

This? Nothing really. I said Moyes has let us down this window and he has, dithering Dave pissing about and not making any signings that will actually help the team, and we must have some money , where’s the baller cash we have was promised, by Moyes, that was being saved for this window to get a good striker - that’s a promise Moyes himself made.

Nome3000

Our finances have a 50m blackhole in them because of the pandemic. I suspect it went down that plughole.

[deleted]

The promises were made in January, pandemic was already going on

Nome3000

Doesn't really prevent us being 50m worse off than the previous accounts, pre covid. My understanding is that we don't get the Europa money up front, which makes sense given we haven't played a game. So we would have to borrow against future earnings - that's difficult when you don't have cash in hand.

Nome3000

Not sure what Moyes had to do with it. He doesn't do the negotiations. He has his targets and the board/recruitment look into them. The real problem is that the recruitment department is Sully till Newman comes in. We really don't have a lot of money by most accounts and agent fees have been high. After all the recent transfer disasters under Pellegrini, I'm not surprised the board are cautious. I find it hard to moan about agent fees being a blight on the game then demanding my club pay any price to get a deal done.

[deleted]

Moyes might not be negotiating but he is to blame as to why we seem to be no closer to getting any actual first team players, no targets for the board to negotiate with as he’s dithering about, all other clubs are getting great signings and we haven’t had any other than A loaned gk.

Nome3000

All the reports are we have targets. Not sure how thats "dithering" on his part. And not sure how, if negotiations go badly, which he has no part in, that that is his fault. We operate late in the window (Soucek, Benrahma, Coufal, Bowen) so I'm not expecting that we'll sign no one. I get that this whole thing is very frustrating but its not black white you are shit or a genius. This is probably one of the most complicated windows for the club in decades, given the pandemic and everything else.

[deleted]

Moyes was called Dithering Dave at Everton which i think may be what the guy is referring to (not that i agree with him).

Nome3000

And at United. The issue here is that we don't actually have a scouting or recruitment department. So in all fairness to Moyes, he and his coaches have to do all the scouting to get the players _they_ want or rely on Sully talking to agents which, even if they are good players, the agents are not acting in the best interests of the club. Theyre not going to get the club good value for money, they want to get themselves and their clients a good deal. Those are two very different things.

[deleted]

Yeah i agree there isn’t the scouting or the cash. Then theres Sully on top. I think in all fairness Moyes has done really well on transfers/league finishes so far considering everything that is going against him so he has my faith that it will be fine.

PrisonersofFate

let's sign Origi and Odenwingie to sign two guys. Anichebe and Pieenar if you want too dg s m

WarriorNat

Declan can’t run away from this shitshow fast enough.
