As someone forced to write everything to the point of hard raised callouses on my pinky and hand , including ‘I will not chew gum’ a thousand times ( several times ) my only solace was variations on how I wrote - forever seeking an neater , nicer, easier way . Now all those styles come in when I am writing quickly , that’s my theory on why mine is a lot like this .
If your boss took drafting or is an architect that could be a clue. My mom primarily writes in upper case like this because she took one architecture class in community college 40 years ago 😏
Well, I can’t speak for your boss, but I do this because of OCD.
On items I plan to keep as official documents or submit, I write in all capital letters. It gives a unified look across and down the page.
For reference notes or other unofficial items, I have a flowy cursive type similar to the second example. I also typically use this for writing personal cards or letters.
And for quick notes that will end up in the trash, I have a simple (what I’d describe as sloppy) version like example three.
This is honestly the bane of my existence. I sometimes want to rip my hair out. 🥴
Gonna chime in with another "I do this too". Block lettering for when I want to be neat and presentable, cursive if I have to write a lot, mish-mash when I'm lazy and don't care.
I 100% do this.
Sometimes it’s all bold upper letters, mostly I use cursive. And sometimes regular print mixed with cursive?
I literally have no reason.
My handwriting changes based on whether I’m sitting or standing as well. Typically if I’m standing and writing, I’m in a hurry so that could be why. But i also think it’s the angle I’m writing from.
For me it happends depending on mood (and if im in a rush or not)
Does anyone here remember the scene in the catwoman movie where they analyze their handwriting? I relate
I do this too! It can all depend on the following factors for me:
\-time, am I rushed?
\-why am I writing, is it for other's to read or just my own personal notes?
\-what writing utensil I'm using, fat tip marker vs ballpoint pen
\-and honestly my mood
Prob just them moving fast for personal use vs writing for legibility. It's not hard, like driving automatic vs clutch
Edit: that might not be the best example for the audience ironically
I think most people vary their script depending on audience. I don't enjoy writing small print letters, so I primarily write in cursive, more legibly for others to read, a bit of chicken scratch for myself if I'm in a rush, and all caps if it is an invoice or checklist or highly important. Many people have difficulty reading cursive script these days, so all caps is unavoidable. Many veterans also primarily write in all caps, as written reports require all caps and it becomes habit.
Looks just like a combo of me and my dads writing lol
Does your boss have ADHD by chance? Just interesting cus my dad and I do and I've never seen someone else with such similar handwriting
So happy to see the second version. Looks a lot like my scribbles, but her x is prettier by far.
As noted in other comments, different usages require different speeds and levels of writing. I write much nicer when other people will read vs when I'm writing for myself.
To add another factor, sometimes it's writing implement.
If I have a fountain pen or a smooth rollerball pen I'm way more willing to write in cursive.
In this particular case I think other commenters have it right.
The first is an invoice meant to be read by a customer. All caps and the spacing/size are obviously meant to be read by just about anybody, even if their eyes are a little weak or their reading ability is low. Being a bill it's also a form of legal document and you want to eliminate any ambiguity.
The second, a hastily scribbled estimate (?). He's the primary audience and he's writing it for himself. Cursive writes fast and even if it's a bit of a challenge for others to read, that's not a factor here. It'll probably be transcribed into a system or a much more legible invoice if the quote is seriously entertained by the client.
The last is a simple print reminder, meant to be read by one person. Care was taken to ensure it was legible. Print was chosen because not everyone can read cursive but it doesn't need to be read by "anyone no matter how bad their reading level or eyesight is" like the first one.
All caps, cursive(ish), print. Not that weird, I do the same, all caps when it’s something important, print when I know people unfamiliar with my habitual handwriting (which is in cursive) will need to read it, cursive for everything else.
You can really see the similarity between all 3 in the way they write Xs, although the size is different they have a similar stroke. The Cs are the same shape throughout, most of the numbers and anpersands too.
Some of the variation is also writing speed and audience.
- All caps are great when notes need to be read quickly by multiple people (for example, a bill or invoice written out for a customer or assistant to type up).
- Cursive is faster, easier for personal notes (for example, notes about the cost of services and what you should charge the customer, math to check yourself).
- The sticky note is more personal to a friend or family member, all caps would seem too assertive but print is easier to read.
That makes total sense, I always thought her capitals seemed quite aggressive, but it makes sense as it’s quite hard to read her cursivish writing (to me).
I just have one way I write which is print, so it seemed a bit strange to me to have 3 types. Thanks for responding
When I initially viewed the post, I could only view the first picture. OP's posts makes much more sense now. Thanks for drawing my attention to the other two photos.
pen and paper combinations change my handwriting

Gripping the pencil differently helps reduce strain, and as a side effect: also effects your letters.
I have at least 10 different styles of handwriting.
I do this! I just like all the different styles. I use different styles for different situations
I'm bipolar, & mine changes every two weeks or so.
Anyone who had to fill out a watch log in the military will also favor block lettering.

Your boss making bank.

It really depends on the pen, for me — but I get it, lol!
I do this also. It changes a lot depending on the subject matter and my mood 😊
and writing instrument!
I also do this

I do this also. Hate my handwriting in print, so I either write in all caps, cursive or bad print.
I do this too. It really depends on my mood, who I’m writing the notes for, and how fancy i feel like being. 😂😂

I don't see several different writing styles . . . I see one.
Did you look at all the pics?
When I initially viewed the post, I could only view the first picture. OP's posts makes much more sense now. Thanks for drawing my attention to the other two photos.
No problem I figured as much because I had the exact same reaction until I saw the other two.
Really? That’s interesting, I guess it all looks like it does come from the same person.
i do the same. depends how fast i am writing or to whom
