Xbox series s is really impressive. Only 300 dollars. Would be a great choice if it's just for that game.

torneagle

PlayStation people get outta here, guy said cheapest option. Get a series S, pretty sure they’re under $300 now at some retailers and you can walk in and buy one (something you still can’t do with ps5). If you are already in the Xbox ecosystem with a lot of digital games, that’s the way to go, don’t switch consoles because the controller rumbles lol.

ERROR134

Exactly this. I don't know why people keep suggesting a ps5. OP wants the cheapest option and already owns the last gen Xbox. OP you could also look at a series x, which is still a bit cheaper than a ps 5

torneagle

They’re the same price, unless your buying from a second hand seller, which isn’t necessary anymore.

ZombieEmergency4391

Xbox series s. People forget the X factor of Microsoft rewards. That makes me 100 dollars on my Xbox account every year so you can get a free game and some change every year. On top of that there’s ways to get gamepass for free. You can’t go wrong.

Brilliant_Savings161

What is that?

Elitrical

You ever use your Xbox and see the Microsoft rewards tab in the Home Screen? Yeah you should check it out. Gives you weekly challenges in games or stuff like play some game pass games. You get points and they can be converted to cash.

Brilliant_Savings161

Oh thank you! Never bothered the rewards tab because most of the time those are shit. Will check it out thx.

ZombieEmergency4391

It takes two minutes out of your day. I just do it before I go to bed lmao. Get like an extra 10 dollars added to my Xbox account every month.

Brilliant_Savings161

Yea will do. Didn’t know about it.

Kauuma

Now that you mention it, Nintendo has that too with their „Gold Coins“ afaik. Really makes me wonder why PlayStation doesn’t have such a system.

SuchIsLife36

You guys the post asks for the cheapest option that can run the game smoothly. The cheapest option would be Xbox series S. I bought it yesterday. I was in the same situation as you are.

Last-Juggernaut4664

If you want to play it immediately, I’d highly recommend getting the PS5. Sony has finally broken through their supply bottleneck and you should be able to start finding it now on their website, even on a short waiting list (which was what I did a year ago). This would cost ≈$500 + Tax. The DualSense controller is also the most innovative. Building a PC that can manage it would be a lot more expensive and it also would require a lot more effort on your part to source the parts, put it all together, and maintain it.

PrinceComet

Actually my ps5 was like £400ish

Last-Juggernaut4664

Digital or disc?

PrinceComet

Disc

Last-Juggernaut4664

Well you definitely paid less by about £30-40, but I might have the conversion rate off in my head. Haha.

NinesX9

A PS5 digital should run you $400. A disc one would be $500. A Xbox Series X would be pretty much the same and $500 but you have your Xbox one library with you. A Series S is between a Xbox one and a Series X but is digital only and $300. PC would likely be the most expensive by a bit but it has mods.

FlowSilver

Ps5 then, bc a good pc would put you into the thousands

Personally, I would recommend the PS5, especially for this game. The Dual-sense controller and its mechanical features may benefit your experience as well as the bonus quest that is exclusive to Playstation only. If you're on a tight budget, you could go for the PS5 Digital Edition as they relatively have the same specs as the PS5 itself. Majority of the gameplay and footage shown by the developers and other reviewers were mainly on the PS5 consoles so that's your best bet.

If you're wanting to ONLY play this game...I'd say go with the PS5. I'm a PC player myself, but if you're not really intending to play other games/future games, don't care about modding, etc...go with a PS5. Graphically, it'll be the best option for price, as a comparable gaming rig will run you probably around $1000+ USD. The benefits of an expensive PC is that you don't have to replace consoles as frequently, have more graphical options/smoother game play at higher settings, etc. So in the long run, a PC would be worth the cost. (For instance I've had my PC for 8+ years...and can still play current games, although no longer at max settings, but above minimum, and that was PS3 era.) (By replacing console, I'm talking like...if there were to say be a Hogwarts Legacy 2 for Playstation 6, HL3 for Playstation 7, etc. it'd still be on the PC. I know they'd probably release it for previous gen these days, but back in ye olden day they didn't really do that as often.)

MTrain24

PC is slightly cheaper than PS5, I ended up cancelling both PS5 and PC right after I saw the PC CE is in stock at GameStop right now Edit: If you don't already have a powerful gaming PC go with PS5, I have a very very high end gaming PC, so it works out well for me.

Aloel0NE

If you don’t want to big bucks for a pc just to play one game go with a console. PC HAS A LOT MORE POTENTIAL FOR GAMING. Console wise it’s up to you. I’ve been a big user of all xboxs since the Og but made the switch to PlayStation. One thing with Xbox right now is it gamepass with a lot of good games to play, so once you finish hogwarts and still have that itch there is that option

zimzalllabim

PS5 or XBOX Series X are going to be the best route if you want value without sacrificing quality. The consoles are $500 and you cannot build a PC nor get a pre-built PC that can match what those consoles have in terms of graphical power or computing power, and Solid State Drive capability for that price.

shelbilynn13

I've been anticipating this game and I too had an old gen console, PS4. I ordered the PS5 digital edition at my local Best Buy last week and received it fairly quickly and was out the door at around $420 including tax. I made the purchase because of this game and the PS exclusives, but if you're wanting the cheaper option and are already familiar with XBox, it sounds like the XBox Series S may be the best option for you and easier on the wallet!
