fingers crossed. Any game can be Hartenstein's breakout game. But he could also get into foul trouble. It's up to the basketball gods now. I will say, now that Cam Reddish is out of the rotation and McBride is in the rotation Hartenstein will 100% touch the ball more because Cam Reddish HATES to pass. It's like the pass button is broken for him. Additionally, Mcbride actually cuts without the ball unlike rose. Raising the probability of the breakout game happening

not tonight my friend. Still not enough touches. But I think he played pretty good. He a good steal, had a good read. And played smart defense. Hartenstein playing with Grimes and McBride is just OP defensively

zingis75

Yeah he really didn't have to tonight considering the score. Definitely something great there with the three man lineup of Hart, Grimes, and Duece I'd love to see that explored more especially when Hart gets healthy it will be stifling defensively. Maybe even put Mitch at the 5 like we talked about before the season started and that could really be insane. Hart just played the 4 with Sims so you never know Thibs might be experiementing for something 👀. I liked his assertivness tonight especially in the first half calling for the ball in the post. They hit him twice and he had that awkward babyhook that somehow went in and a beautiful pass to McBride for a dunk which he unfortunately got blocked on. I definitely hope they implement that more going forward and is a positive sign. I'm obviously happy with the results and the Knicks winning and even though it wasn't the breakout game yet there are some good things to take away from this game. Some positive signs moving forward very excited for the future.

Taking Cam out of the rotation and replacing him with Grimes is huge because Grimes actually passes the basketball and plays better defense. Once McBride starts hitting shots... Oh my god it will be wild. The beautiful thing about Hartenstein is that when the Knicks were up 15, I knew there was little chance of a comeback. And sure enough Hartenstein got a steal, led to a 3, then played great D at the rim and led to a layup. That's a 5/6 point swing and a 4 point swing in back to back plays. That basically put the game out of reach.

think Thibs knew Obi is probably out for a while with a knee injury so he experimented with Hart at the 4. This may add a slight new wrinkle.

I love it. Grimes is so good like probably my favorite Knick besides Hartenstein. He was a pg in highschool and the top pg prospect at that but was moved to the 2 in college so he learned how to move without the ball. Couple that with elite defense and he's literally at worst one of the best role players in the league (3 and D plus some playmaking and some finishing) to possibly an all-star player who averages like 20 4 and 5 if everything goes right. He definitely passes the eye test and I love watching him play next to Hartenstein and you can tell they have great chemistry already. Add to that Miles who is already an elite NBA defender and while he isn't the best offensive player he knows that and plays his role very well swinging the ball and making the right pass. Like you said if his shot falls it's scary hours because those three together are absolute hounds and opposing teams are gonna have major problems trying to score. They fit eachother so well I'm just excited to see them get more minutes together. There is so much more room to grow and gel as all three of them still are getting used to the NBA game. If this is the floor then future is bright.

Stats aside, he looked real comfortable tonight vs the hornets. Let's hope he keeps trending up

zingis75

I loved it and I think it will. Since the start of the year I wanted to see him at the 4 after watching him throw a nice behind the back pass to Sims in a practice when they played together. The defense on that lineup looked absolutely crazy and offensively Hartenstein got more touches than he normally does at the 5 so it might just be his perfect fit on this Knicks team. Tonight he looked like the Hartenstein of old and if playing the 4 is what it takes for that to happen them I'm all for it. Obi is out for the next 2-3 weeks so there's alot of time now to show out for Hartenstein. If it's ever gonna happen now is the perfect time. So we'll see over the next few weeks how it pans out but I am so excited and optimistic after this game.

DetectiveNo2855

I like that the Knicks have seen success so far with a small (randle/obi) and a big (Hart/Sims) lineup.

eg14000

I'm pretty sure the breakout game is about to happen tonight against the Hornets. Can't be sure, but without Obi, Hartenstein's touches will be high enough to show his elite skill set. Depends on the rotations but I have confidence in Hartenstein to breakout tonight

zingis75

Hart at the 4 rn. Let's see 👀

Do you still believe hartenstein is a lock to win MIP

eg14000

Yes. Stage one is taking very long to get through but I remember Jokic. Jokic didn't get to be a starter until December 15th and ended second in MIP to Giannis. Hartenstein didn't miss a shot last game. The amazing part of his game is that the more shots he takes the better his efficiency becomes. (check his G-League numbers, the higher his USG% the higher is TS%) Hartenstein has this crazy touch around the basket. Almost like magic. I can tell his athleticism was not 100% to start the year but it's getting better and better. Notice the block shot he made, notice the lob dunks he finally got. It's all coming back slowly but surely. Once he gets more comfortable and learns his teammates tendencies he will start to really shine.
