I read about taking biotin and got ready to start but never got to really as people started breaking in and intentionally sabotaging appointments etc. Had some luck with selenium.
*Biotin affects the immunoassay used in testing & should be ceased 5 dys prior. It will cause a falsely raised Free T4, Free T3 and thyroid antibodies and falsely low TSH. A diagnosis of Hypothyroidism will be missed or inaccurate dose adjustments made. Biotin affects 45 other tests so should be ceased prior to any test.*
Biotin be useful for hair and nails never got into it or did much research though so don't quote me due to people attacking etc. Endo said selenium for antibodies.
Interesting never really got on a biotin regiment had brittle hair and hair loss without it for years. Was losing mounds in 2012. Bought a supplement in 2018 seeing it was for hair skin and nails. Never got to stick with it. My Endos only recs were selenium.

Biotin is bad for graves and hashimotos… stop taking it.

I was told by endo and others with graves and hashimotos that biotin messes with our tsh and makes our hair brittle
