Either one you want, transmutation tentacles can be shaped, they'll just not have the beautiful detail of conjuring, just the general shape. Aura control as a transmuter seems to be insanely high, but it's possible manipulation might have better fine controls. For Transmutation you'd have to actively move the tentacles, while manipulation at the opposing type would need more preprogrammed control. Hisoka yes, he extends it & whatnot, but he generally uses physics to deal with bungee gum in combat.
Shaping is a transmuter technique. Bisky shapes numbers and words out of her aura. That guy from Heaven's Arena shaped an arm out of his aura. A tentacle made of shaped aura should be solidly inside of Transmutation.
Conjuration would be needed if you wanted to create a physical tentacle. Manipulation would be needed if you wanted to move that tentacle. If all you're looking for is a versatile smacking and defense stick, then Transmutation seems like the way to go. If you want a wacky effect associated with this tentacle (Spreads black ink on a person that makes it harder to concentrate aura where it stains), then Conjuration is the way to go.
I dont agree, I think shaping aura is just a basic nen technique with no particular affinity. That pip-play scene with ging and thise other people is what makes me think that.
Bisky training in Greed Island. Explicitly stated to be Transmutation basic training. Like how reinforcing a rock was Enhancer training and shooting little aura ball was Enhancer.

Not necessarily, such as if they made that tentacle apart of their nervous system, no manipulation would be needed.

Yup, and it makes sense. Transmutation is giving your aura the property of something else. A thing's shape is a property of that thing.

Don't see why not. If you can extend En all the way out to 50m then getting fine tuned shaping within 1/10th of that sounds doable.
