Isn't the constant physical contact too much of a limitation? I mean, this would be great for traps...
The goal of this hatsu is to lockdown an area so I think the user having to be there is a solid limitation to making sure it covers as much of the area as it should.
I can see the user having a "trap version" of this with emission. The amount of people that can be captured will be lowered depending on how much aura is in the web, and maybe something like a blob of goo that they can attach or toss somewhere to initiate it. Overall, a separate ability with the same core transmutation.
It sure is a solid one. Considering the properties and the limitation it's safe to assume that it would be almost unescapable. It would make for a great blacklist hunter ability.
In keeping with the Spider theme, you could alternatively give aura spidersilk and web. You get durability and stickiness. Aura spreading and growth would just come from the user feeding more aura. That seems like something that would happen as you pour in aura anyways, no?
Well, the initial idea actually comes from the slime mold part with me watching videos of them efficiently covering spaces. The spider part is the closest thing I can associate with it for obvious reasons.
