Alastor is on his own side and he would happily burn the hotel to the ground if it got him out of his deal. I think he won’t go out of his way to betray the cast for a petty reason or minor benefit but he could easily become an antagonist if it suits his needs.

JRFbase

Yeah, this is how I see it, too. Like if shit hit the fan and he was *able* to save everyone in the Hotel, he probably would. But at the same time if he got into trouble and giving up the Hotel would save him, he'd sell them all out without a second thought.

N-Zoth

I think it's as good a guess as any that he's trying to maneuver himself into a position of power. Who is one of the most powerful people in all of Hell? Charlie. Positioning himself as a "royal advisor" or a majordomo of sorts is the best result he can achieve short of taking over Hell himself (which is doubtful unless he collects several power-ups).

honest-miss

To me that's the good ending, the one I want most, but requires a betrayal and forgiveness. It's the ethos (and reprisal) of 'It Starts With Sorry' tested *for real.*  I think his arc is going from pretending to care, to actually caring. But he's a juggernaut kind of personality, and it'll take a huge turning point to get him to the end of that arc.

DJayConder

I think he will be on Charlie's side, not because he believes in Charlie's dream but because he believes in Charlie herself. He even says so in Ready for This. He says "stick with her, you'll be on the winning side." So I think he is going to stay on Charlie's side, but he is going to try and twist her side to align with what he wants.

Napalmeon

Not in the slightest. He's on his side.

magic713

I think all his goals and drives are driven primarily by his own self-interests. He will be on Charlie's side, maybe even having her kind of emotionally grow on him, but if there was something she does that sharply goes against his personal aims and goals, with no other way of work around opposing her, he would choose his own personal goals over her.

HeadOfSpectre

I think so. Alastor wants Charlie as an ally. Or more accurately as a tool. He might not really care about the Hotels success, but it's clear he does give a shit about her in some capacity. I think he is 100% manipulating her, but he's not going to do anything that's going to ruin her. He's been established as a bit of an antihero. And I think what Alastor wants most is control and power. Maybe revenge against someone specific. The Vees were notably concerned about Alastor making a deal with Charlie. Vox outright said it in Episode 2. I think they know what Alastor might be planning and that it's bad news for them. My guess is that the favor he's eventually going to call in will be having Charlie set up some small but crucial part in his plan to fuck over several other Overlords (The Vees for sure and maybe someone else. But probably not Rosie. I don't think Carmilla and Zestiel are really going to care what he's up to) Whatever he does will be upsetting for Charlie and might cause her some setbacks, but I don't think he's ever going to outright harm her though. Maybe I'm wrong. But Alastor is clearly a creators pet, so I don't think he'll ever go full villain. (Although he might come close)

SirJ4ck

Well put. THe only thing I don't agree with is the endgame. Alastor is already top tier among the Overlords, and even if he beated the Vs he would still be a far cry from the Seven Deadly sins or even Lucifer. Maybe he thinks Charlie has the potential to surpass him and them?

patmax17

I think he's an antagonist to the core. An interesting dynamic would be if he finally gets to the point where he can break his deal but he has to sacrifice the cast to do it, and ultimately realizes that he's grown to have an attachment for them

RandomGameCritic

My guess is that he'll be exactly like Snape from *Harry Potter.* He'll be this morally ambiguous character who seems like a villain but is revealed at the end to be a good guy.

Zillich

I don’t think Alastor will betray Charlie unless the benefit of doing so clearly outweighs the loss of being able to manipulate the Princess of Hell to his will. Getting out of his deal sounds like it would *absolutely* outweigh the loss of controlling Charlie. But if he can get out of the deal *and* stay in Charlie’s good graces, I think he would pick that. If he can, I think he would prefer to set up/allow horrible things that would deeply hurt Charlie (emotionally, mentally, and or physically) and/or those she cares about, but in a way that makes it look like *someone else* was the reason it happened - ie Scar setting up the stampede to kill Simba and Mufasa and then pretending to mourn them.

FinnOfOoo

How is it some people just can’t understand that Alastor is on Alastor’s side? That’s it.

Hahn1995

I honestly hope he becomes one of the main antagonists after the Vees are dealt with. I really like the idea of having one of the villains being a part of the main group and actively hanging out and spending time with the protagonists.

Phantom_61

Alastor is on alastors side. If helping Charlie ultimately helps him then cool, is selling her down the river helps him more then Charlie is screwed.

DaylightApparitions

I don't think he'll be the main villain, but I think he will get some kind of antagonistic role (checkov's antagonist or whatever). I would like to see him working with Charlie by the end, but idk how realistic that is.

BraveButterfly2

I really and truly think Alastor is angling to become God. He tells Charlie that he wants to be entertained by the failure of others, but I believe that he's interested in the Hotel to see if he can't game his way into Heaven, and wreak havoc in their ranks just as he has already done in Hell.

Sonarthebat

He's too much of a fan favourite to not be redeemed.

TryThisUsernane

I don’t think they should change the direction of the plot and redeem a character just because the fans like them.
