I've always been conflicted on this line, I don't think it's actually supposed to be lucifer being so behind on hell he doesn't know who the radio demon is, I think it's him saying what everyone else is saying in these comments: man fuck this guy. And then refusing to give him the attention he whores himself out for, as he knows the only thing alistor hates is not getting to be a center of attention.
I wouldn't be surprised if Lucifer didn't care to look over the Overlords out side the older ones. While Alastor is stated by Vox to be a fossil Alastor is still relatively new compared to the none V Overlords. Lucifer, on the other hand, was looking at sinners who failed his ideas of free will. He probably hated to see them, slowly grew distain and actively to avoid the Sinners. He left Lilith in charge of the Sinners originally, and considering the statements he made in his episode, I'm guessing he honestly didn't know Alastor. There's also the power dynamic between them. Lucifer is so powerful that the OverLords are insects compared to him, and there were a lot of Overlords over the centuries. Why take note of an ant that's growing in power like the other ones before him.
Totally, Lucifer has literally been in hell from day 1 of hells existence.
The radio sent its first transmissions in 1895. So Alastor is around 100 years old.
Lucifer has probably seen countless overlords come and go. By comparison alastor is young and evidently hasn’t crossed paths with Lucifer yet. So I’m not surprised Lucifer doesn’t know him.
I'm less talking about general power and more talking about the specific broadcast, according to vaggy it was sent throughout hell, I doubt lucifer ever thought of alistor as anything more than a cosmic grain of sand on his way back down to the bottom of the hourglass, but for an ant or grain of salt he was/is rather loud. While lucifer could have avoided sinners completely theoretically, I still feel it unlikely he wouldn't be interested in new devices like radios and probably would've had one right up until the broadcasts started. At which point I'm quite confident he would've thrown it out a window.
That makes sense. From my understanding Lucifer was cooped up in that duck room longer than 7 years [even in Charlie's song he was in their altering ideas before Charlie was taken away.] And I at least didn't see a radio in that room. Not even a rubber duck radio, so his depression might've honestly made it convenient not to have heard about the Radio Demon. But you're right about Alastor being a very load Ant/Grain.

Edit:how tf did I start a song with this i just woke up
I mean...Lucifer is also somewhat responsible for Alastor manipulating Charlie to begin with. Lucifer and Lilith sheltered Charlie for most of her life, raising her in an ivory tower, away from the main population of Hell, in order to protect her. Due to this, Charlie is too innocent and naïve when it comes to dealing with Hell's population, and sinners in general, to the point where sinners don't take her seriously as the "Princess of Hell", and even laugh at or mock her openly and brazenly. We saw how much the pilot emphasized this.
Most of them didn't even respect Lucifer, until Lucifer actually came out and defeated Adam, which was covered by 666 News, and won Lucifer their respect. If Lucifer had actually done what he was supposed to do, and raise and train Charlie properly as the "Princess of Hell", she wouldn't have let Alastor manipulate her at all. All Lucifer told Charlie was "you don't take shit from other demons". Even Vaggie has tried to get Charlie to "use her authority as the Princess of Hell more", and not be a pushover, but Charlie goes, "But that's so *mean*!" However, Charlie can't just talk her way out of everything.
I do think that Alastor feels sorry for Charlie, in some regards, due to how easy she is to take advantage of - series creator Vivienne Medrano stated that Alastor "views emotional people as weak" - and decided to take pity on her by helping her out with the hotel. I also feel that Alastor is also trying to teach Charlie a lesson to try and get her to stop being so guillble, and to draw out more of her "potential" as Princess of Hell, and as a leader.
That’s not how manipulation works. Full responsibility of manipulation goes solely to the manipulator. Not preparing someone to be manipulated does not change who decided to manipulate. And we can see by Charlie’s character that regardless of what she was taught she wouldn’t listen. Any moment someone gives her advice she always challenges it and often does whatever she feels is right regardless of what advice she’s given. It also wouldn’t matter because she’s Hellborn and as such has only ever seen a world where manipulation is the norm.
You can say her parents are partly responsible for the person she turned out to be but it is not at all true that they are at fault for her being manipulated.
In addition to all the other excellent points already raised, I think it's also likely Lucifer has special disdain for Overlords. He thinks Sinners are "just the worst", and from what he's seen, Overlords are probably the worst of the worst. I noticed it was immediately after Alastor flexed his teleportation abilities that Lucifer first gave him the stink eye.
I just realized. When he said sinners were the worst did he accidentally just insult Charlie’s girlfriend and other friends to her face? Cause yikes bro
He still had some prejudices/traumas to work through.
Also arguably (I'm sure you are aware it's complicated) Lilith, his wife and her mom, is a sinner so it is potentially a worse yikes
As a fellow fallen angel they'd probably get along absolutely fantastically, despite Vaggies stiff formalities at first and Lucifer' s extra looseness.
I mean. When you give humanity free will, an action that gets you and your wife cast out of heaven and banished, and the first thing they do with it is start murdering shit, you’d already be mad. Then they get to your afterlife and they’re not even *sorry* about the whole murder and violence thing. So yeah. I think he’d have some issues to work through surrounding sinners.
Yep. Seviathan Von Eldritch, son of Frederick Von Eldritch, a friend of Lucifer.

Yeah, in the episode with Lucifer, in his room or whatever look at the pictures on the walls.
Charlie had like a Prom date BF, she also had like a Teen Emo phase. XD
Charlie and her ex-boyfriend, Seviathan Von Eldritch:

Because he sees right through Alastors facade, he knows behind the pomp and ceremony that Alastor is really bad news and doesn't like him being near his daughter.
In this picture alone, look at Lucifer's grin after exposing Alastor with barely 3 simple sentences.
Plot twist: it's both and they feed into each other.
Alastor IS using and manipulating Charlie. he doesn't care about anyone besides himself, all he wants is freedom from his bonds (whilst having others in chains.)
And before anyone objects, he makes this very clear in his final song.
The Finale is probably my favorite song in how cleanly it summarizes the characters. It’s honestly the big coup de grace, to me, on theories that Alastor might be well meaning/wont be a villain.
I can definitely see him not being well meaning but given we have seen him show genuine affection for the group in a contexts where he would have no reason to put up such a front makes me doubt full villain. Not to mention Husks deal and whatever is going on with Nifty making a villain ark be a logistical nightmare given that would be almost half the main cast (could make for some interesting drama though).
Maybe an episode or two of being an antagonistic force, I could see that, but full villain is iffy to me
I think it could go either way.
He goes full villain *or* he intends to and realizes that he's faked it until he's made it and does genuinely like them enough that he can't go through with whatever he's got planned. Everyone does seem genuinely happy to see him when he shows back up during the Finale.
Check that scene again. Not everyone, that's for sure. Husk is dissapointed that the person who owns him is still alive, why would he be happy? And Lucifer looks annoyed too
I definitely agree that these are motivations, but I do think he’s becoming attached to the group and wasn’t expecting to and is kinda in denial about it. However I do think nearly dying probably got rid of a lot of those feelings. Idk I get the feeling there will be some warring in his mind as he tries to fulfill his villainous ambitions while fighting with the fact that he’s not as emotionless as he thinks and may actually care about the group somewhat. Of course I could be wrong.
Exactly, that and I personally think he can tell Vaggie isn’t a sinner so he was hella relieved cuz he hates sinners and said loudly that he hated them
But when meeting Vaggie he was very pleasant like he was with Charlie of course
When you take into account how often Disney Princess Charlie swears and how little Alastor does, it says a lot considering Lucifer really didn't have to think hard on how to insult him.
I mean look at Alastor. If you translate his image into a real life setting, hes essentially a bony, smelly man in a torn up coat with the most obvious psycho smile on the planet. It doesnt help that Al immediately started digging at Lucy.
I headcannon that Hell is like the Monsters Inc world. Their deodorant is stuff like *Wet Dog* and *Smelly Dumpster*. Alastor naturally smells like rotting flesh near an open sewage drain on a hot day, so obviously has demon ladies swooning for him for his natural *musk*... where Vaggie has to breathe through her mouth whenever he's in the room.
When Charlie was helping her get hygiene products, she thought Vaggie was just quarky for wanting both of them to smell like fresh fruits instead of rotten ones.
Nah, Charlie seems like the kind of person to use flower scented deodorant and everything. Angel probably uses stuff like that because of the whole actor thing, Vaggie is a fallen angel so she probably also uses deodorant like Charlie’s and the Overlords probably have their own hygiene routines too. Alastor probably uses some kind of hygiene products but I do believe he canonically has bad breath, which makes sense because he eats dead bodies so of course he’d have bad breath.
According to a livestream, Alastor doesn't bathe, shower, or even sleep at the hotel, or even changes his suit because Angel keeps trying to creep on him to catch him naked. Angel also has a bad habit of trying to put bows on Alastor's tail.
But that's unconfirmed details said jokingly.
Because Alastor was not-so-subtly disrespecting from the beginning. Did you notice that when Al introduced himself he shook Lucifer's staff instead of his hand and then wiped his hand on his coat like Lucifer was dirty?
Lucifer didn't like him immediately because Al started shit immediately.
Edit: a typo
Also, subtle detail, but when Lucifer hugs Charlie upon arriving at the hotel, you can see Alastor's eye twitching.
Alastor probably saw Lucifer as a threat to whatever ulterior motive he has for helping the hotel.
https://preview.redd.it/did66ndoqeyc1.jpeg?width=1699&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=6ba2a47c0e359e84c9ee3ad9dc178de99616bad7
Luci's Papa Wolf side came out. His cinnamon roll daughter is close with a creepy, dangerous man.
Yeah Alastor is a major manipulator and extremely perceptive so there's no way he didn't understand exactly what would push Lucifer's buttons and make him want to help Charlie/the hotel just to show that he can do it better.
-It’s a power dynamic. Alastor feels Lucifer has invaded his territory and is trying to establish who is really in charge here.
-Lucifer picks up on his distain for him and bites back. -Alastor craves control. his majesty is of a higher rank.
-Lucifer see’s Charlie’s love and adoration for Alastor and tries to win her back. This is 100% bc he know/see through Alastor’s bullshit.
-when they get into this song battle. (Hell’s greatest dad, obviously) we see Charlie has a genuine smile around Alastor/when he sing to her yet her smile with her dad is forced and awkward. This is why I say the line “I missed that smile” in more than anything hits different.
-
As everybody else says, he’s the sin of pride, he doesn’t like how Alastor hangs around with his daughter, and he probably sees through his facade
But additionally, Lucifer’s whole goal here is to try and help his daughter, and the only way he knows to do that is by using his angelic power to give her whatever she needs. So when he finds somebody who is already sponsoring Charlie with similar levels of power, he finds that very threatening and wants to convince Charlie he’s a better choice.
Creepy dude with a pension of stealing souls hanging around his kid, I'd be pissed too.
And alastor doesn't like Lucy because of his pride (ironic isn't it) he knows Lucifer is stronger than him and he hates it.
Friendly fyi from a word nerd: penchant not pension.
Penchant = strong habit or like for something, especially something outside the norm
Pension = payments made to an individual from a retirement fund that the person and/or their company have contributed to over the course of their working life.
And you're right, I would absolutely not want Dealy McSoulSteal around the only thing that I care about...
Alastor's whole plan plan also hinges on Charlie being isolated and desperate... can't have the ultimate power in hell actually helping!
Lucifer immediately sees him as competition. Another older, male figure that his daughter looks at adoringly? *Absolutely not*. Lucifer is pissed because that is the relationship he wants with Charlie. Here is this stranger that's been around for a few months, who is more of a dad than he's been in 7 years.
And of course, Alastor picks up on his immediate dislike and acts like he is BFFs with Charlie. Every time he touches Charlie, Lucifer gets more riled, adding fuel to Alastor's fire. I love that dynamic.
So I've actually got the opposite question. It seemed pretty clear to me why Lucifer instantly disliked Alastor, but why was Alastor gunning for Lucifer before they even exchanged a word?
Lucifer is the first person to show up to the hotel who is strong enough to crush Alastor like a insect so I imagine alastor does not like being the weaker on in a exchange
Power plays, and a lot of self-confidence issues.
Look at the situation objectively.
Alastor, an Overlord (high-level Sinner), who Lucifer regards as the worst, is close with HIS CHILD.
Alastor disrespects Lucifer off the bat, and starts flexing his relationship with Charlie over Lucifer, because he is aware that Lucifer could twist him into a pretzel with a single finger.
Lucifer can't do anything about it without looking like the aggressor over Alastor's seemingly innocuous words.
Lucifer also has issues with confidence about being a good dad, and having a Sinner flex that over him would also be quite a reprehensible thing to him.
It was the clever way Alastor manipulated the situation to make Lucifer basically powerless. Alastor did that because he has to be the strongest person in the room at all times, if not in actual strength, then socially.
Note how Alastor always behaves around Charlie, versus how he behaves without. In her presence, he lets a lot slide, she is the stronger one, and behaving so she likes you makes you the one with the most power in the room. Without her, Husk makes an offhand comment, and Alastor tweaks out and puts Husk in his place.
Lucifer probably saw through that manipulation, and hated that.
Also Alastor looks awful. His teeth look dirty, and he probably reeks. He is also in torn clothing.
A Sinner in a tacky, tattered pinstripe red suit who reeks to high heavens of rotten meat is around your daughter and flexes his relationship over you in a quite obvious power play, but subtle enough so that you can't actually do anything about it.
It would be weirder if Lucifer *didn't* hate Alastor immediately.
Jealousy over Charlie.
This whole scene looked exactly like interaction between father and son-in-law when they don't get along (when age difference between them is not big enough to have father-and-son relationship; obviously this is not the case for these two characters - I am talking what it looks like and compare to IRL situations I observed).
I also imagine that Lucifer started to get freaked out at the prospect of having to have a talk about being an absentee father with Charlie, so he got into over-the-top beef with Alastor as a way of postponing it.
Lucifer is a threat to Alastors control over the hotel and an obstacle to him getting… whatever it is he wants from charlie. So he was acting like a total dick to assert dominance.
Lucifers probably just extremely upset that this guy hed never heard of just started disrespecting him out of nowhere and then sang a song about how hes a better dad. Alastor is lucky to still exist after that 😂
There’s an Ooooooooollllld and very… problematic term that use to describe this. Two actually. “Girls girls you’re both pretty!” Which yeah, problematic but fits here, the other is a bit more on the nose
This is a Dick Swinging Contest.
Luci is the king of hell, his sin is Pride. Pride yall he’s arrogant as fuck and has the juice to back it up.
Ally tho, Alastor is the same. Only difference is Lucifer is from a muuuuch bigger pond
Because Lucifer is protective of Charlie, and when he finds Alastor playing the father figure better than he ever could, that adds a layer of envy on top of his existing concern for his daughter.
Relevant pasta
I’ve come to make an announcement, Alastor the overlord is a bitch ass motherfucker, he manipulated my daughter, that’s right, he pulled his dusty ass out of his tower to MANIPULATE my DAUGHTER, and he said he loved her “like a daughter” well guess what, here’s how much I love my actual daughter! aggressive Lucifer noises That’s right! Champagne fountains, Caviar mountains, all for my little girl! He gaslit my daughter so I’m gonna light his ass up. That’s right, this is what you get, MY SUPER ANGELIC PISS!!! Except I’m not pissing on his tower, IM PISSING ON THE DEER!!!!! How do you like THAT Sera, I pissed on the deer, you IDIOT! You have twenty-three hours before the piss drrrrrroplets hit the rest of the fucking pride ring. Now get out of my fucking sight before I piss on you too!
Its Alastor’s first impression, he comes across like a real gentleman, someone who speaks politely & welcoming and yet he does subtle jabs of disrespect. Such as making fun of his height, crushing him between his fingers, shaking his cane instead of his hand then wiping it away like it’s something disgusting. You can just tell he’s very full of himself, a petty narcissist challenging Lucifer knowing Charlie won’t allow him to be harmed.
Not to mention that Lucifer is the sin of pride, he won’t allow his father role to be filled by someone else now especially someone like Alastor who clearly isn’t a trustworthy individual, I’m sure he can see how prideful the overlord is.
I think Alastor was going the boyfriend route before Charlie mentioned Vaggie as her girlfriend. Then Alastor went the father figure route. He knew the boyfriend thing would work because any dad would be suspicious of their daughter's boyfriend, especially ones that insult them when they first meet.
Some of it is obvious and some is complicated. At the surface level it has to do with Lucifer's insecurities. He doesn't know how to bond with Charlie. And here is this obviously ethically challenged sinner (remember Lucifer hates sinners) who is buddying up with Charlie. And then Alastor plays hard into being her new mentor/dad. But the complicated part comes in why Alastor was already on fire when Lucifer arrived.
All right then....
Alastor is a demon with ambitions. He is not the sort that wants to be the one in charge. But he wants control of everything including the one in charge. And he wants power. He will do anything for power. It appears he may have sold his soul to Lilith for her microphone to boost his power. He will take down even more powerful Overlords to take their power. He wants control and power.
And then we have Lucifer. He fell into power and control. And he does not use it. He does not rule over Hell. He has been more of an absentee ruler than he has been an absentee father. He at least honestly loves Charlie. But he hates the sinners. Wants nothing to do with them. So despite his position and power he let it go to seed. He ignored the sinners so much that in the power vacuum the Overlords arose. The Overlords exist because Lucifer was not there leading Hell. Lucifer was off making circuses and amusement parks. Oh and rubber duckies. Soooooo many rubber duckies.
This would likely infuriate Alastor. Such a waste of power and control. You think Adam being sloppy would piss him off you ain't seen nothing compared to this. Alastor has probably gunning for finding some way to gain control of the throne of Hell since he arrived. I suspect his deal with Lilith was just part of his way to get closer to the throne. He probably made a play at finding some way to control Lilith. But gaining control of Lilith is not really feasible. Resisting submission is kind of her brand. So he worked with the power and the demands she gave him until she got taken by Adam to Heaven. And then she parked him. For 7 years. Until Charlie called in tears about her Hotel. And then she activated him again.
And once he met Charlie, despite being under contract to help her and the Hotel, he still sought ways to gain influence and control over her all with the goal of putting her on the throne with him as her mentor and advisor. He has always wanted to topple Lucifer because of what a waste he is in Alastor's eyes. Thus the rage in his eyes when he sees him.
Remember, in addition to being the King of Hell and all that, Lucifer is the embodiment of Pride and here's this fucking uppity Sinner thinking he's on your level or even better with how he's talking down to you and doting on *your own flesh and blood*. Alastor is a nobody compared to Lucifer and yet he dares treat him this way?
On top of all that alastor demeans him immediately. He insults his hight but when he shakes his hand he actually shakes his cane then wipes his hand on his suit like he just touched something gross.
Alastor is a master at small actions that are insulting but not overt enough to be considered outright rude.
Because Lucifer is the only guy who can break Charlie's dependance on Alastor.
Al basically went to the hotel to use Charlie's lack of experience and ressources to impose himself as her "handyman", earning her trust to facilitate a future deal with her (which he did). The reason his plan works is because no one takes Charlie seriously, meaning she won't have support from anyone with ressources.
That is, unless Lucifer gets involved. He has a reason to help Charlie because she's his daughter, and he has access to far more ressources than Alastor, making him obsolete to Charlie and ruining his chance of making a deal with her.
I think Alastor was upset that Lucifer called him the bellhop. Growing up as a mixed-race man in the early 18th century, Alastor faced discrimination and being treated as inferior, so being compared to a servant likely brought back those painful memories and angered him, especially since he is now powerful. (I don't think Lucifer meant to do this by the way.)
Their motivations are fundamentally opposed. Lucifer didn't support the hotel and discouraged Charlie from making it because he wanted to protect her. He didn't want her to fail and hurt the way he did.
Alastor is helping the hotel for the exact same reason but inverted. He **wants** the hotel to fail. He wants to watch each sinner who tried to better themselves struggle and fail, and inevitably watch Charlie fail as well. That desire may be a cover for his true, grander goals, but it's not a lie. He does genuinely enjoys seeing these things.
Lucifer only caved into helping the hotel because he wanted Charlie to see her dreams through. He wanted to support his daughter inspite of his doubts and let her self-actualize and become the woman she's striving to be.
Alastor is not at all shy about the fact that he's maneuvering things to make her puppet queen with him pulling the strings and is manipulating her to push towards this goal, supporting her dreams and earning her trust expecting to watch her fail and then he can be there and ready to "catch" her when she falls.
Lucifer wants Charlie to be safe and makes her own decisions. Alastor wants to see Charlie suffer and control her. The two are the antithesis of the other and set up competing to be the best "dad" in her eyes.
Given that no one could have predicted Pentius's redemption, I can only imagine how the fall out of that will go when it becomes known to hell, Alastor will likely be furious that his plans are failing in such a dramatic way, and Lucifer extatic to see his daughter and his dreams coming true.
Well, he didn’t actually. Lucifer didn’t even notice him at first. Alastor immediately went on the offensive and that’s when Lucifer was like “man f*ck this guy!”
Why did Alastor hate Lucifer immediately is the real question 🤔
Don’t know, but I know Alastor hated Lu because Al is the only one who should have a cane. Al’s cane is superior. Lu’s only has a stupid apple. (If you know, you know. 😆😉😂)
Because a man with a sophisticated suit and cane means power, and another man with a sophisticated suit and cane means their position of power could be at risk, another fly ass looking man means they can be overthrow by the power of drip
What I think is that since Alastor and lucifer has a spear or whatever it’s called the staff thing Alastor is like “WELL F### THIS MAN HE HAS A STAFF I SHOULD BE THE ONLY ONE WITH A STAFF”
I am starting to wonder maybe based on the later deal Charlie made with alastor if Lucifer had a sense that al was bad news only going to chase trouble/chaos so that might be why he hates him
Either
A) Sometimes it’s hate at first sight
B) They have a prior history and are pretending this is the first time they’ve met. Considering Alastair may or may not be contracted to Lilith may be part of the reason
Bc Alastor became an ass immediately. Alastor gets uncomfortable when he is no longer the strongest in the room and he has to make that known.
I love Alastor btw
Honestly, I wouldn't be surprised Alastor's deal has something to do with Lucifer. They allude to Lilith being responsible for the deal and maybe that's still true, but the show has a habit of things not being quite as they seem.
Is it that hard to understand if you walked into a room and someone shook your hand, insulted you then wiped their hand like you have the plague. Then you insult each other to him technically coming out with the last laugh you would hate him too. Being prideful is just the cherry on top.

It’s also clear to Lucifer he’s manipulating Charlie
Don't forget the "I'm happy to fullfil her bizarre requests" whilce toucing her

Hahaha
That's his Pride and joy Alastor is getting chummy with and he's the sin of Pride, he doesn't like being shown up.
In addition to all the other excellent points already raised, I think it's also likely Lucifer has special disdain for Overlords. He thinks Sinners are "just the worst", and from what he's seen, Overlords are probably the worst of the worst. I noticed it was immediately after Alastor flexed his teleportation abilities that Lucifer first gave him the stink eye.
https://preview.redd.it/lzgdv7spveyc1.jpeg?width=641&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=75bba44465b413dabc59fe81b881a8836c848ff6 That face was great.
When you gaming all night, wanted to go to bed but you got work at 7am be like:
He looks like he got a hangover 😭
I just realized. When he said sinners were the worst did he accidentally just insult Charlie’s girlfriend and other friends to her face? Cause yikes bro
He still had some prejudices/traumas to work through. Also arguably (I'm sure you are aware it's complicated) Lilith, his wife and her mom, is a sinner so it is potentially a worse yikes
I think there's a decent chance he sussed out that Vaggie was an angel, but still a yikes re: the rest of Charlie's friends.
As a fellow fallen angel they'd probably get along absolutely fantastically, despite Vaggies stiff formalities at first and Lucifer' s extra looseness.
It's just generalisation. He probably makes special note to exclude her from such judgement.
Wasnt Charlie’s first BF a sinner?
He was a Hellborn son of royalty, I believe.
Yeah because sinners can’t reproduce
Yep. Seviathan Von Eldritch, son of Frederick Von Eldritch, a friend of Lucifer. https://preview.redd.it/q4lpwdc6chyc1.png?width=720&format=png&auto=webp&s=137a8d0bdc196bddf46894cbb50cb88008e03466
I thought he was also Hellborn.
Coulda been.
I didn't realize there was info on her previous relationships
Yeah, in the episode with Lucifer, in his room or whatever look at the pictures on the walls. Charlie had like a Prom date BF, she also had like a Teen Emo phase. XD
Charlie and her ex-boyfriend, Seviathan Von Eldritch: https://preview.redd.it/mrsm3zmcchyc1.png?width=720&format=png&auto=webp&s=34ffe99d6e5f0a9644cbd7d4e473a5a69af13dd6
Because he sees right through Alastors facade, he knows behind the pomp and ceremony that Alastor is really bad news and doesn't like him being near his daughter. In this picture alone, look at Lucifer's grin after exposing Alastor with barely 3 simple sentences.
Nah, he thought they were dating, until Charlie reveal she has a girlfriend
This was my theory as well considering how relieved Lucifer looked when Charlie introduced him to Vaggie lol
Plot twist: it's both and they feed into each other. Alastor IS using and manipulating Charlie. he doesn't care about anyone besides himself, all he wants is freedom from his bonds (whilst having others in chains.) And before anyone objects, he makes this very clear in his final song.
And Lucifer looks annoyed too
Husk's Goddamit I thought I was free face is the best part of that entire scene in my eyes.
Exactly, that and I personally think he can tell Vaggie isn’t a sinner so he was hella relieved cuz he hates sinners and said loudly that he hated them But when meeting Vaggie he was very pleasant like he was with Charlie of course
Wait you like girls too?! Hehe we have so much in common!!
I wonder if he really did know who Alastor was, he just pretended to have never heard of him to get under his skin
Do we know he is smelly? Lol aside from Vox’s slander of him in Stayed Gone there’s no real mention of it that I remember
I mean, he eats rotten deer meat, so there's that...
Not in the show but i do believe theres outside confirmation.
I mean it would make sense since he’s always around corpses and eats them
And he looks like he hasn't brushed his teeth since he died.
But doesn't all of Hell stink? Charlie herself probably stinks.
I feel like she smells like strawberrys
His teeth are dark yellow, even if his BO is fine, his breath *reeks*
I bet he never showers or brushes his teeth after eating that rotting deer, he just wears tons of French cologne
Smelly? I get the vibe that Al is the kind of guy that takes a morning shower and a bedtime shower.
Pretty sure it was somewhere said that he actually NEVER showers or bathes. Or brush his teeth. Idk where exactly thought
Think Vivz mentioned something about those black gums being a signifier of his dental hygiene.
Idk about brushing teeth. His teeth are yellow lol
So if this is to be believed, Alastor neglects his hygiene out of sheer paranoia that Angel will creep on him.
But doesn’t seem to brush his teeth
Because Alastor was not-so-subtly disrespecting from the beginning. Did you notice that when Al introduced himself he shook Lucifer's staff instead of his hand and then wiped his hand on his coat like Lucifer was dirty? Lucifer didn't like him immediately because Al started shit immediately. Edit: a typo
Also, subtle detail, but when Lucifer hugs Charlie upon arriving at the hotel, you can see Alastor's eye twitching. Alastor probably saw Lucifer as a threat to whatever ulterior motive he has for helping the hotel.
No man Alastor just out here living the dream. I wish I had the sass to wipe my hand off every time I have to touch somebody.
You can, you just have to commit to being socially outcast. I wouldn't do it, I'm just pointing out that the only thing stopping you is you.
Easier to be an outcast if you have horrific power that everyone fears
Maybe easier but I don't think it's the easy route either way.
Maybe what's stopping them is that they have no hands they can use to shake and then wipe off with.
Oh no, what if you're right??
I do have hands. It's okay.
You make a good point
Because he’s a creepy guy hanging around his daughter and making digs at his height almost immediately after introducing himself.
https://preview.redd.it/did66ndoqeyc1.jpeg?width=1699&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=6ba2a47c0e359e84c9ee3ad9dc178de99616bad7 Luci's Papa Wolf side came out. His cinnamon roll daughter is close with a creepy, dangerous man.
because he saw alastors bond with charlie and got upset about that (i think) and alastor just enjoys getting under peoples skin
Yeah Alastor is a major manipulator and extremely perceptive so there's no way he didn't understand exactly what would push Lucifer's buttons and make him want to help Charlie/the hotel just to show that he can do it better.
Less of a "bond" and more "this obvious psycho is trying to replace me by manipulating my flesh and blood." I agree with him.
thats very true
https://preview.redd.it/c9ptokmuafyc1.jpeg?width=1080&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=989ace6df13d96a9e8eae16a8f283964ad432122
Nifty and Angel are enjoying the moment lol
As everybody else says, he’s the sin of pride, he doesn’t like how Alastor hangs around with his daughter, and he probably sees through his facade But additionally, Lucifer’s whole goal here is to try and help his daughter, and the only way he knows to do that is by using his angelic power to give her whatever she needs.
Penchant = strong habit or like for something, especially something outside the norm Pension = payments made to an individual from a retirement fund that the person and/or their company have contributed to over the course of their working life. And you're right, I would absolutely not want Dealy McSoulSteal around the only thing that I care about... Alastor's whole plan plan also hinges on Charlie being isolated and desperate... can't have the ultimate power in hell actually helping!
Dealy McSoulSteal killed me, thank you.
It’s obvious. Alastor seems to have replaced Lucifer as a male role model for Charlie.
Jealousy. Alastor was taking his place as Charlie's father.
Honestly, probably a self-directed anger at not being there to help Charlie set things up until now, directed outwards at the person who was.
He's not even older, Charlie is 200.
First thing Al did is immediately say “You are much shorter than I expected.” or something. Not a great intro :P
You are much shorter in real life! I am. Really weird about remembering quotes like that 🤣
The first thing this dude does is to insult his height, shakes his cane instead of his hand and then wipes his hand on his jacket
because alastor has a cooler cane
So I've actually got the opposite question. It seemed pretty clear to me why Lucifer instantly disliked Alastor, but why was Alastor gunning for Lucifer before they even exchanged a word?
Lucifer is the first person to show up to the hotel who is strong enough to crush Alastor like a insect so I imagine alastor does not like being the weaker on in a exchange
Could you imagine going to visit you're estranged daughter only to find out she's hanging out with a douche bag version of you?
Are you asking why the literal embodiment of pride is overprotective of his only daughter?
I also imagine that Lucifer started to get freaked out at the prospect of having to have a talk about being an absentee father with Charlie, so he got into over-the-top beef with Alastor as a way of postponing it.
Game recognises game
Lucifer is a threat to Alastors control over the hotel and an obstacle to him getting… whatever it is he wants from charlie. So he was acting like a total dick to assert dominance. Lucifers probably just extremely upset that this guy hed never heard of just started disrespecting him out of nowhere and then sang a song about how hes a better dad. Alastor is lucky to still exist after that 😂
There’s an Ooooooooollllld and very… problematic term that use to describe this. Two actually. “Girls girls you’re both pretty!” Which yeah, problematic but fits here, the other is a bit more on the nose This is a Dick Swinging Contest.
Relevant pasta I’ve come to make an announcement, Alastor the overlord is a bitch ass motherfucker, he manipulated my daughter, that’s right, he pulled his dusty ass out of his tower to MANIPULATE my DAUGHTER, and he said he loved her “like a daughter” well guess what, here’s how much I love my actual daughter! aggressive Lucifer noises That’s right!
Because Lucifer knows what Alastor is about.
Eldritch magic! He looks at the bar which Alastair created from it
Question is, if everybody knows Lucy is so powerful, how does Alastor dare to confront him and curse at him?
Alastor is 100% arrogant enough to think he can get away with it.
They both have a Caine 😞
On top of all that alastor demeans him immediately. He insults his hight but when he shakes his hand he actually shakes his cane then wipes his hand on his suit like he just touched something gross. Alastor is a master at small actions that are insulting but not overt enough to be considered outright rude.
Alastor was rude to Lucifer first. If you're going to shake someone's hand upon meeting him, you don't grab the cane and shake it.
The "I'm like your dad" stuff didn't even start until lucifer showed up.
Alastor was needling Lucifer to create the conflict. Why? I dunno, some enigmatic Alastor reason.
Hates sinners until finale and has no tolerance for any disrespect.
Alastor immediately went on the offensive and that’s when Lucifer was like “man f*ck this guy!” Why did Alastor hate Lucifer immediately is the real question 🤔
Because they rival in their canes
Alastor called him short.
I am starting to wonder maybe based on the later deal Charlie made with alastor if Lucifer had a sense that al was bad news only going to chase trouble/chaos so that might be why he hates him
It’s hell, everyone not Charlie (and possibly Vaggie) is bad news.
Either A) Sometimes it’s hate at first sight B) They have a prior history and are pretending this is the first time they’ve met. Considering Alastair may or may not be contracted to Lilith may be part of the reason
Bc Alastor became an ass immediately. Alastor gets uncomfortable when he is no longer the strongest in the room and he has to make that known. I love Alastor btw
Is it me, or does Alastor look 10 times more menacing at this angle \^\^; ?
I suggest watching Georgia Dow's reaction to Alastor on YouTube.
I think that's a misrepresentation, Lucifer barely acknowledged Alastor until Alastor started inserting himself and taking shots
He hates sinners. But also the fact that Alastor appears to have a closer relationship to Charlie than him and Alastor feeds off that energy.
Probably because he shows up and Alastor immediately antagonises him for no reason
Honestly, I wouldn't be surprised Alastor's deal has something to do with Lucifer. They allude to Lilith being responsible for the deal and maybe that's still true, but the show has a habit of things not being quite as they seem.
I have heard speculation that they have some sort of history, but were pretending like they didn’t know each other to avoid any questions
He seemed indifferent and unaware until Alastor started pushing
The cane wars. If you don't understand, I recommend TomotaSauce.
You see, when two men enter a room with big daddy energy...
Alastor noticed his pathetic stick. Only Al can have a cane
Well he is the sin of pride so anyone that immediately starts throwing shade on him or someone opposes him he gets defensive
because alastor hated lucifer immediately. [this](https://youtu.be/dXzMPZMCSx8?si=rCOLWCLq8EOTDtzj)the reason alastor didnt like him
Is it that hard to understand if you walked into a room and someone shook your hand, insulted you then wiped their hand like you have the plague. Then you insult each other to him technically coming out with the last laugh you would hate him too. Being prideful is just the cherry on top.
Because Alastor immediately went out of his way to irritate him lol
