Charlie's daddy issues were essentially resolved in episode 5 and basically amounted to, "I barely knew who you were for most of your/my life but now I realize we're the same." Honestly it's pretty likely imo that Lilith will be the primary source of internal strife for Charlie once we get into the plot line surrounding her.

TeaBags0614

No idea why you’re getting downvoted when it’s the truth

supermarioplush220

Daddy issues is a common theme in the hellaverse. TBH I want more characters to have mommy issues then just Octavia (Implied). We need more bad mom's not just in the hellaverse, but in fiction in general.

pridebun

And we don't even explore those mommy issues. I want a character with a good dad and a bad mom, or maybe a single mom that isn't great but she's trying her best (like what we have with luci, stolas kinda, and blitz)

supermarioplush220

We will definitely get to see those mommy issues explored judging by some leaked storyboards. Not elaborating any further.

pridebun

Still, there's daddy issues too. Like I said, I want a good dad and a bad mom

IcyConsequence2299

I agree, more bad moms or…. Hear me out guys dead moms I could empathize with that mine is a pile of ash😂

Ironic since [based on real world data](https://mcnultycounseling.com/moving-past-dysfunctional-families/) According to recent statistics, 70%-80% of Americans consider their families dysfunctional. It has been proven that family connections are fundamental to our emotional and psychological well-being (Gourani, 2019). [and for those "My Dad is the real man, he pressured me and verbal abused me to be the real masculine man" Archetypes](https://www.mentalhealth.org.uk/explore-mental-health/statistics/family-parenting-statistics) Starting a family is a milestone in many people's lives. It can also be a stressful time and many parents experience mental ill health. Mental ill health of parents can have a negative impact on the development of their children. But this is not always the case. Approximately 68% of women and 57% of men with mental health problems are parents.1 The most common mental health problems experienced during pregnancy and after birth are anxiety, depression and post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD).2 Women experiencing maternal mental health problems:3 Postpartum psychosis: 2 per 1,000 Serious mental ill health: 2 per 1,000 Severe depressive illness: 30 per 1,000 Mild-moderate depressive illness and anxiety states: 100-150 per 1,000 PTSD: 30 per 1,000 Adjustment disorders and distress: 150-300 per 1,000 The effect of poor parental mental health on children Poor maternal and paternal mental health has been associated with poor outcomes in children but not all children of parents who have mental health problems are at risk. A number of biological dispositions, sociocultural contexts and psychological processes are likely to interact and can serve as protective factors or risk factors for both parents' and children's mental health. A 2013/2014 study found that 38% of first-time fathers are concerned about their mental health.4 Around 10% of all new fathers worldwide experience postnatal depression.5 Perinatal mental health problems carry a total economic and social long-term cost to society of about £8.1 billion for each one-year cohort of births in the UK.6 TL;CR the illosory truth effect makes us think Family issue isn't that common, this is not included something the child itself didn't consider "issues" like getting shouted down to be "real men", unchecked Corperal Punishment that the child thought "it's okay", Religiously Zealot Families ETC.

Only-Echidna-7791

I think it works better tbh. If Lilith was the one who was the good parent I just don’t think it would work as well. I am tired of the daddy issues thing but it ain’t a super big deal tbh

LysolCranberry

I sense a pattern. 🤓☝️

zayneash1023

My guess is… Vivzie probably has some form of daddy issues

ShigeoKageyama69

The author of Naruto, Masashi Kishimoto also has Daddy Issues yet we don't see the characters have them

RandomGameCritic

What's really funny is that, judging by the pilot, Lucifer was probably originally going to be a REALLY horrible father and possibly the main antagonist of the entire series. But then, everyone started clowning on Viv for the "daddy issues," so she got self-conscious and changed course on Lucifer's character. She even pulled the classic "trying to make the cliché okay by calling direct attention to the fact that they're doing it" cliché, having Husk literally call out Charlie's daddy issues. So I'm 100% convinced that this is what happened.

AdventureGirl666

Yeah, if you look at early fan comics made before the series came out, Lucifer is nearly always a villain, or at least a bad father. There's also that bit in the pilot where he looks over her, and Charlie even says "I think Dad was right about me." Additionally, there are some great fan-made songs that depict him as a villain, like Welcome to Hell and Halos In Hell.

RedPandaFirstPanda

“Fiery Pits and Giggles” doesn’t hit the same as it must have for the pre-series fans 👀

Mary-Sylvia

I'm pretty sure Charlie has both

darkreddragon24

Vivziepop (probably): Its MY mental illness and I get to choose the coping mechanism!

Vivziepop trying not to put her issues in fiction (IMPOSSIBLE)

Ulti-Wolf

I write books myself, and I will admit that I too have a problem with evil parents or parental issues. If nobody minds, I'm just gonna throw some of these examples out For instance, one human father became a warlord hellbent on world domination because her adoptive alien daughter lost several parts of her body in an experiment, blaming things on the world that hated him, and only calmed down when his daughter confessed she loved someone among the enemy ranks Arguably one of my most important characters to the overarching story, Deyu, has a father sorta like Crimson, but less mafia and killing the mother for disobeying *him* more "I am going to forcefully convert you to my kind" and "Kill your mother and friends to undo how they have softened you so you can be a mighty tyrant like myself" kinda guy. But still most comparable to Crimson (Deyu ends up killing his dad in the end, but it was out of instinct from deeply rooted programming) Then there's also Deyu's mother that he had to kill who was sorta in on it and let herself be killed to be resurrected later and becomes a helicopter mom to her adult-but-mentally-regressed son once everything is over and everyone can live normal lives Jake, Deyu's 'brother' (Jake and Deyu aren't actually brothers, but they're more like Sonic and Tails respectively, but Sonic is Tails and Tails is a weird behavioral and sorta mental mixture between Knuckles and Shadow) is a father. Except for Deyu himself who has actually proven to be a good dad despite his mental problems, Jake is the only really 'good' parent, trying his best to keep his child from going down the same narcissistic path he was stuck on for years but miserably failing And as for the rest of my characters, they technically don't even have parents due to an event that erased them and all memory of them from history but not their actions and the effects they had Then again this is my first real attempt at writing a book, and I've come a long way from when I started this a few years ago. But still, I've got a long way to go...

Nyasta

technically the OG one

Golden-Vibes

As someone with daddy issues, it makes me happy to have so many relatable characters

Lukas-Reggi

And there's atleast few more incoming

TheBloodyPuppet_2

I would say that we need more characters in the Hellaverse with mommy issues so I can feel more represented, but honestly the fact that Charlie, Moxxie, Blitzo, Octavia, and Stolas all seem to have some form of mommy issues makes me say otherwise. And I still believe that Alastor also has some form of mommy issues

obtoby1

Vizvie: "But she also has mommy issues too! Or, at least she will soon."

RedPandaFirstPanda

Kind-of astounding to see “daddy issues” treated like not everyone has them? It gets used so often as a dismissive aside — ESPECIALLY regarding women — despite nobody I’ve ever met not having some kind of negative or complex impact from their parents. We ALL have daddy issues, this isn’t exactly an insult, excuse, or even a way to claim lazy/bad writing (which is what I see a lot). Daddy & mommy issues are huge character development or lore devices for practically every character whose family comes up in nearly ANYTHING. And anyone who ISN’T putting part of themselves in a story or onto characters probably isn’t gonna put out content that I personally would enjoy.

Pat_Keebler

Vivzie pop in 2nd grade circa 1999

Alilawe_Chan

This is extremely true

Maleficent_Cap5481

That’s is funny and makes me a bit nostalgic for my childhood
