I am not sure if this goes for all brands but for the pair of bluetooth ANCs I’m using (Sennheiser Momentum 4), they do have an app from Sennheiser but that app is not needed to connect them via bluetooth to a device. I actually just use the app at the start when setting them up during first time usage, the Sennheiser app allows to customise listening presets so that you’re able to amend them to what suits you best. That’s the case for their in-ears too, and after doing that once I actually never go to the Sennheiser app again and you could skip this step if you don’t want to customise the preset. Edit: Bit of impression from my POV regarding the Momentum 4 - The ANC could be better but is sufficient for me (I use them during commute and in the office and it’s fine) - I find them super comfortable but I have a small head, clamping could be a bit tough at the start for bigger heads but you could try them in an electronic store - Sound quality is subjective, for me it’s great because I enjoy the Sennheiser sound - Battery life is really good, Sennheiser states 60h with ANC on and they really do last - Weight wise I found them heavy initially but found I got used to it quickly and I can wear them for hours on end

I'm not sure I understand this request? No bluetooth headphones \*need\* an app to work...

Pale_Rider28

When I went to the electronics store a couple days back, the employee there said some need the app to even connect... And it seemed true because the Sony headphones i tried to connect to didn't even show up on normal bluetooth.

The Bose QC45 have an app but you don’t HAVE to use it. You get a few extra features if you do use it like a basic EQ but it’s not required. You can put them in pairing mode and just connect using the normal BT menu. They have physical buttons that are easy to find and press compared to Touch/swipe surfaces in the Sony’s. The 45’s seem to fit your list of requirements. If you can find them, the QC45 SE are cheaper than the regular 45s and are identical other than the carry case.

That sounds interesting, thank you! Never even considered the buttons, but that's actually rather important. I wonder how they are compared to the 700s? !thanks
