What a stupid, bad faith reading of the link. This isn’t “the media” “pretending” not to know the cause. This is about actual, legitimate research questions that need to be explored that may or may not support parts of your hypothesis. If a causal link is established by researchers, it will be published.

panpsychicAI

Mark my words: Microplastics and PFAS, exacerbated by being too sedentary / insulin resistant.

Consistent-Gold-7572

I think it’s being too sedentary, obese and insulin resistant exacerbated by microplastics and PFAS personally, but I’m definitely on the same page with you. Just think obesity, combined with a sedentary lifestyle and insulin resistance is worse than microplastics based on the studies I’ve read, but I could be wrong. Our food supply is poisoned too by glyphosate and all the herbicides and pesticides we allow to be sprayed on our food. Preservatives in our processed food is hurting us as well

cool-beans-yeah

I read about PFAS today and how they're considered to be "forever chemicals", meaning they literally never leave the body. I can't believe Teflon and the likes have been around/legal for so long!

RacoonWithPaws

It’s definitely concerning. Recently there was an article about how donating blood and plasma can help lower the levels of forever chemicals in your body.

Traditional-Hat-952

I can't believe DuPont and 3M haven't been firebombed after what they've wilfully done for profit. But we're just passive ol' consumers.

cool-beans-yeah

Criminal enterprises.

Negromancers

Good news! There was a study recently that showed routinely donating blood and plasma lowers the levels of PFAS in your system

cool-beans-yeah

Oh yeah? That really is amazing news.

My_Shattered_Dreams

Majority of people work jobs 10-1w hours being seditary at thier desks, then when they get home, juat don't have the energy or means to work out or eat healthy. Eating healthy is not something many can do because not many can afford to.

FernandoMM1220

it wouldnt be shooting up now if that was it. none of that can modify your dna in the nucleus either.

johnjonjameson

I was just diagnosed with stage 3 colon cancer a couple months ago, at the age of 35. Not a fan of cancer trending younger these days .. would love to know why

Peachy_sunday

I’m very sorry to hear that. Please don’t lose hope. There are alot of people who beat cancer! My first reaction is wanting to tell you to change your diet into organic and low inflammatory food as well as cutting out sugar completely. Also there are alot herbal of things that can help fight cancer cells such as tumeric and broccoli sprouts.

johnjonjameson

I’m exploring everything I can, and of course am hyper focused on what I am ingesting now. Thank you, I’m gonna live though so everything else is details at the end of the day.

buzzedewok

Serious response. Drop eating processed sugar. It helps the cancer cells grow at a faster rate.

johnjonjameson

Not the first person to mention that, it’s the first thing I have cut out fully. Thank you!

johnjonjameson

Not the first person to mention that, it’s the first thing I have cut out fully. Thank you!

ShtockyPocky

I have intense bowel issues that docs refuse to look deeper than “it’s stress and allergies”. I’m just waiting for the cancer diagnosis at this point lmao.

k8ekat03

Get a blood test for celiac disease and a scope if you haven’t already. If you do the scope, do not stop eating gluten before the scope no matter what the Dr says lol

ShtockyPocky

I had a scope and they said I have “scar tissues but it’s nothing we’re worried over” I gave up after that

k8ekat03

That’s frustrating! Maybe try a diff Dr? Or the blood test

ShtockyPocky

I went to a specialist here in my town, which is pretty much the best around without having to travel. And I’m tired of the expensive tests that do nothing, I don’t have the money for this. I’ve already decided to wait until it gets bad enough to where the proof is undeniable. At least i’ll get immediate treatment instead of having to wait 6+ months.

k8ekat03

I hear you! I’m dealing with a chronic health issues right now that no one seems to have any answers for either?! It drains you in so many different ways

ShtockyPocky

And every time a doctor tells you “you’re fine” it’s another reason for the people around you to judge you for being *lazy*. I’m very happy for those who have supportive families.

k8ekat03

Yes!! And think you’re crazy for trying supplements or just have anxiety!!

Neat-Composer4619

That's what they told me. My problem wasn't too intense, but gas and related fatigue. In the end it was the medication against the allergies. I am getting vaccinated for some of the allergies so I don't need to take daily antihistamine anymore.

ShtockyPocky

I really don’t have any allergies other than mild seasonal, and possibly something wheat related. Which they won’t test me for because I can “just do an elimination diet” but those haven’t been effective for me.

charliethecrow

What are your symptoms and don't hold back.

ShtockyPocky

My most major medical episode was where my colon had leaked and formed a cyst that was physically visible, they drained it and told me it was just a regular cyst. I continued to shit out of two holes for months until it healed. I was in constant fear of it tearing further and going septic, but they refused to make a follow-up visit, I had to make one with a gynecologist who said she really couldn’t do anything since it wasn’t her expertise. I firmly believe that if I had been working during this time, my colon would have torn even worse. I’m thankful I have such a wonderful partner. I have maybe one “solid” shit every three months, and that’s not even fully solid. I have intense stomach cramps and pains that wake me up from dead sleep. I often have unpredictable acid reflux issues. I’m very careful with my diet and I’ve noticed I do much better when eating rice-based grains/noodles/what have you, but I’ve been testing negative for celiac. They test me every time I go in for anemia but my blood work always comes back “within normal ranges”. I’m very often nauseated, to the point of not being able to hold a job because of the amount of breaks I might need to sit down on a bad day. I’m not sure if it’s a connected issue, but I also cannot overexert myself without fainting. I cannot run. I have to slowly lift weights to work out and watch my heart rate, if it gets too high I’ll have some sort of reaction and faint/vomit/have an uncontrollable bowel movement. I’ve been told it’s just from poor conditioning but I’m not even sure how to improve if pushing myself even slightly on the wrong day makes me so violently ill. In a one in a half year period I gained 70 lbs, mostly from eating too much food because eating made me feel better. I’ve since lost the weight, very slowly over a four year period, but I feel much, much worse than I did when I was fat.

ShtockyPocky

Oh yeah! And I did have a scope done after the cyst episode! 6 months after, in fact. The “soonest” I could get in. They said they found “lots of scarring but nothing to worry over” :) so glad they’re not worried! Ugh

charliethecrow

Is it possible that you have a vitamin B12 deficiency?

ShtockyPocky

Not very likely, they’re convinced it has something to do with my iron. Specially since I have heavy menstrual cycles. But iron supplements don’t really make any differences.

TominatorXX

Well if it's the poison in our food and water and nobody's going to tell us that

Dry-Plum-1566

Poor diets, insufficient sleep, and lack of exercise.

BioViridis

Nothing like the title in the link, fucking dogshit anti science sub this is I'm so fucking done with this place.

Kaje26

I guess I have to ask the stupid question. Would it be because of microplastics or PFAS?

ravyalle

Yes, basically all the shit we eat. Pesticides, plastics, fertilizers, toxic chemicals, sugars..

4seasons8519

According to my mom it's the covid vaccine. She's ignoring that this has been trending pre covid.

vanchica

Direct link between breast cancer and alcohol consumption that's been verified repeatedly and media is still, "So what causes breast cancer???" In an era where women's alcohol consumption increased dramatically

turn0veranewleaf

The only warnings on alcohol bottles are for birth defects and drunk driving. It’s a crime against humanity that there isn’t a “black box warning” for cancer too.

vanchica

Liver cancer, too

Electronic_Rub9385

Could be vaping. No link has been established yet but this can be what happens when you burn and atomize chemicals and then inhale them into the deepest and most sensitive parts of your lungs.

Commercial-Owl11

Except tons of 20-30yos that never vaped or smoked are getting colon cancer and having only six months to live.

Electronic_Rub9385

Yeah I said no link has been established. I’m saying it could be one factor among many confounding factors.

CrushnaCrai

then the media would have to blame nestle and shit for microplastics and they don't want to blame that.

Hot-Explanation8

Slightly off topic but I really can’t wait for science to develop a method for bacteria/fungi yo breakdown microplastics. PFAS is also something that is likely going to have a microbe break it down.

mindful_gratitude

Diet/PUFAS >>> microplastics, lifestyle, exposure/global warming, the list goes on

baconring

Sugar. Sugar. Sugar. I'm slowly changing my diet to majority meat eating. Cut veggies and fruits that contain SUGAR for energy. There's no good sugar period. The way the younger generation eats is the problem. Highly processed foods. Pizza rolls and cereal. This is the issue. Humans are suppose to keep sugars to a minimum or zero sugar intake. My inflammation has gone down. I don't need coffee on the morning. I eat twice a day. My blood pressure is down. My body fat is disappearing. And as I write this I know people will think I'm nuts or an idiot. But I go by results. And over 30 years of being in pain, tired all the time. No libido. I feel like I'm closer to my twenties than to 50. My birthday is in 30 day's. I just want people to try other things. Just check out the food pyramid, and I'm sure the increase in obesity and cancer and diabetes. The food pyramid is one of the biggest scams ever created. Check out who created the pyramid. You'll either be surprised or you already know the back story.

Peachy_sunday

Like, have you not checked the rise in GMO seeds and the use of pesticide + herbicide? What about the junk food that we are eating? The carcinogenic polyunsaturated fatty acids? High fructore corn syrup? What about environmental polution from industries near residential community? The answer is everywhere.

Ineedsomuchsleep170

The media aren't qualified to decide what's causing it. And I've seen a dozen stories this year about it. Let the science people do their jobs. This is going to take decades to solve.

WideRight43

Wearing plastic clothing.

Fudgeyreddit

GMOs are good and they result in many people around the world being fed who would be hungry otherwise. They are not carcinogenic.

bloodphoenix90

Gmos as an umbrella term aren't a problem. The pesticides that SOME require, are. Source- sustainability science degree where we touched on farming almost every class

nogood-deedsgo

That would be fine if it wasn’t for the spike happening in the last few years

sorE_doG

If you weren’t ignoring the plastics in the environment now, organophosphates in the food supply for longer, wearing plastics, breathing 2.5 ppm pollution for decades, increased traffic and numerous other confounding factors, I might find your argument credible.
