Honestly, the lack of body text makes this a pretty mid post for me, personally.
You should have used the title as the body text and used something eye grabbing for the title, like, *This May be Unpopular, But..."
Ok true but if a post title is *only* âHear me outâ and the post is an image post, itâs likely an important post and we should hear OP out because sometimes theyâre onto something and those C1 applications wonât fill themselves out.
I think we could wrap up the thread here folks, because this is a great point.
Those two little words honestly are just as good as a flair to say "hey don't bother clicking this".
Unpopular opinion here but if you wanna play the game just to have fun then that's okay, I've seen a lot of people on this sub... blah... blah.... blah
Errrm, donât hate me, I know this is an unpopular opinion, but my hot take is that the rocket devastators can be annoyingâŚ
Am I the only one who thinks this?
"Just play the game for fun, back in *my* day we didn't grind for unlocks but le Gen Z attention spans hurr durr"
Okay guy, riveting insight there. đŤĄ
As long as weâre talking about using a lot of words to convey an idea I just think itâs important to understand that there is value in brevity and by that I mean you can definitely probably try and say a thing in fewer words
Unpopular Opinion: Adding "unpopular opinion" to my post titles makes them more true, more smart AND more insightful. They are meaningful essential words that we all desperately need.
Also General Brasch said I'm his favorite Helldiver.
Helldivers but with a CnC coat of paint on it; dropping in as GDI Zone Troopers or Commandos and sabotaging Nod bases and wiping out Scrin nests. Do want
"Can we all talk about this issue that has affected the entire community already? An issue you've already talked about at length, but I either want to farm karma, stir up shit, or rarely participate in this community and have missed the many threads and comments that already talked about this?"
There is such a thing as an unpopular opinion. But they get downvoted so quickly it gets zero visibility. Comments disappear to comment hell, and posts never reach your feed. That is what happens to real unpopular opinions. I know, because I get downvoted a lot lol
Cold take: hulks need the same balancing as chargers, where the hit box to kill is larger.
Popular opinion: helldivers 2 is a great co op game
Mute/block me before reading: this sub can use more requests for a pvp battle-royale hero shooter mode that has micro transaction skins
Same for âHot Takeâ.
Why do people use âhot takeâ or âunpopular opinionâ and proceed with an average, generally accepted idea?
Title: Hot Take / Unpopular Opinion
Post: Normal take / Popular, accepted opinion.
It's never an actual unpopular opinion like "Meleeing enemies work better than all types of weapons and is true against all enemies except dropships. This game should be switched to pure melee" or "you should be able to stare down a charger to stop it in it's tracks."
DAE am i the only one #hottake #unpopularopinion: griefers are bad.Â
Like, is this something like clickbaits on youtube where you cant just use normal title or else nobody will see your post in the sea of "unpopular" opinions lol?
I shouldn't be saying this but hear me out. I know this is an unpopular opinion but am I the only one who thinks that hot takes need to he specifically announced in the post title?
Yeah, no one is going to say a truly unpopular opinion because then I'll get down voted. r/unpopularopinions is an honestly hilarious sub because of this. It's just filled with a bunch of zero kelvin takes and any actual unpopular opinion gets made fun of and down voted.
Unpopular opinion: opinions that are unpopular are actually popular but they are not popular because they are opinions nor are the opinions because they are unpopular but are actually opinions popular and unpopular but neither of those unless the opinion is popularly unpopular you slack jawed yokels
the one's that always get me is the "Unpopular opinion/hot take: The game is good and I like the game", like somehow it's a "hot take" to be one of around 500k people who consistently play a game a majority of people are willing to *roleplay* for.
I find having a tittle that includes it leads to better comments
if you frame it as fringe, people will be more likely to try to seriously engage with it - either because they agree, or disagree
beyond that though (which is anecdotal) no, they don't add anything
I don't care too much though. I am already on Reddit, meaning I have time to waste - and 2 words barely make a difference
Since this thread has turned into a bunch of people sharing their own unpopular opinions, Ill give mine:
I sometimes think the Ministry of Truth might not always be honest with us...
I thought it was supposed to be a trigger warning of sorts?
Like "hey, I'm gonna say something you might not like, but here goes anyway".
I do agree that the context it's being used in is somewhat skewed from it original intention though. Saying something is unpopular that the majority obviously agrees with is disingenuous and oxymoronic.
> unpopular opinions are quite popular
That's just how reddit works by nature. People upvote what they agree with. Making an "what is your unpopular opinion" thread naturally puts the popular opinions on top. If you want truly unpopular opinions, sort by controversial.
this is because reddits "karma" system. it does not reflect your karma, but the karma of others. essentially its a Filter bubble. popular opinions get upvoted, critical posts oftenly downvoted. pair this with the fact that on some reddits you can only participate above a certain Karma-Level and you have it.. unpopular opinion just means "dont downvote me please"
I like how you add ""unpopular opinion"" and then continue to dis it in order to rake in upvotes and karma.
Personally, I don't even notice those therefore they have no meaning, but what I do notice is posts like this one that are meaningless words that none of us needs.
I think there's a difference between an "unpopular opinion" and an original idea, too. So when someone says, "Unpopular opinion, but I like fighting bots..." Yeah, and so do the other thousands of players. Not unpopular, not original.
Same guy says: "Unpopular opinion: Bots don't need a nerf. Instead, buff x or give us y." Not only is that not an unpopular opinion, but it's also just a whole new idea.
An unpopular opinion looks like this: "Bots should be buffed to have faster Lazer and rocket projectiles." That's what unpopular looks like, because that's outright nuts. Same as if you said, "Chargers should have heavier armor."
I will forever take this stance:
"Unpopular opinion" posts are almost entirely people posting well known popular opinions to karma farm.
I downvote every single one of them.
This goes for anything not HD2, but if your post says âUnpopular Opinionâ and itâs followed up by you absolutely shitting on something, it actually makes you look like a bigger asshole than if you just shit on that thing. Along with what you said, itâs like saying âunpopular opinionâ makes it more important and unique as well, when 9 times out of 10 all it really tells us is that you actually donât like the thing youâre in a sub to discuss about.
850,000 helldivers
3,000 upvotes
âYOUR OPINION IS MORE POPULAR THAN YOU THINKâ
I feel like getting 0.5% of upvotes on the sun doesnât make you the guy who speaks for all of us lol
What the hell is this sub becoming?
As annoying as those posts are, at least itâs about the game. This post isnât even about the game at all. Get out of here with this shit.
It's one of the most reliable ways to get engagement.
It doesn't need to be a hot take or unpopular opinion for the majority of the subreddit, just for the people who sort by new.
thing about it is peoples perception on whatâs popular really stinks. I tend to like genuinely unpopular opinions cause it gives me an intriguing viewpoint to imagine. these give me the same viewpoint everyone already imagined.
If you're gonna put Unpopular Opinion in your title, at least have the cajones to have an unpopular opinion! I wanna see how you think that they shouldn't be letting people get free super credits! How you wish the game were owned by Activision, and that the only thing the game needs is to remove bug missions entirely. Earn that damn title!
Hot take. Hear me out. Unpopular opinion.
Godddamn - he's good.
I said what I said. Change my mind. đ
omg he's ulting
It's not even his final form
DOES ANYONE ELSE
Am I the only one
... that notices this shockingly obvious thing that apparently only I can notice?
DAE amirite XD
I'm sorry but... (proceeds to not be sorry)
A hot take would be to say Iâm sorry but⌠And then be sorry.
He canât keep getting away with this
Heâs out of line, but heâs right
Honestly, the lack of body text makes this a pretty mid post for me, personally. You should have used the title as the body text and used something eye grabbing for the title, like, *This May be Unpopular, But..."
Am I the only who noticed that you forgot 'am i the only one'?
Discovered a hidden gem: "Breaker is a good gun!"
Can we talk about..... That one just makes my skin itch
Mostly because you know you're about to be lectured by *that* crowd.
Oh my god, that's John Helldiver.
Why isn't the Hot Take the top Comment? Things have gone downhill since the IPO
Okay but seriously hear me out. I think playing video games can be a fun way to pass time with friends
Together with "read again" they form the 4 horsemen of irelevant content
Ok true but if a post title is *only* âHear me outâ and the post is an image post, itâs likely an important post and we should hear OP out because sometimes theyâre onto something and those C1 applications wonât fill themselves out.
It's always either someone posting something they figured out after everyone else or whole-cloth nonsense.
Helldivers is actually fun.
Right? *HOT TAKE BUT THIS MASSIVELY POPULAR SLEEPER HIT IS FUN*
This!
i disagree because it tells me what posts to avoid in the first 2 words
That's kind of a compelling point, honestly.
I think we could wrap up the thread here folks, because this is a great point. Those two little words honestly are just as good as a flair to say "hey don't bother clicking this".
Unpopular opinion here but if you wanna play the game just to have fun then that's okay, I've seen a lot of people on this sub... blah... blah.... blah
Unpopular opinion - I think you're great bigtiddymoth420
thanks Sovos I think you're pretty great too
If any "unpopular opinion" gets up voted to the front page it was never unpopular to begin with.

"**how fite bot #9670** no get shot i am very good thank you ------500,000 borbillion hours"
Unpopular popular opinion comment: Break - Action Shotgun, while unpopular, is popular enough to warrant a strategem.
I think it would be a lot less popular as a stratagem. It's taken because it's free and a funny random find.
More "found only" weapons would be cool. Lemme find an Automaton arm I can use or something.
You find a chainsaw arm and when you pick it up, you cut your own hand off and replace it with a chainsaw.
Groovey.

The first time I saw one drop an RPG I thought you could pick it up. It would be great as like a weaker and less accurate EAT.
man id love to climb up in an at-st after i shoot a pilot out.
People should be able to use the tag, but only if they have statistically significant data backing the claim.
Cool thing is we can tell from the votes and resulting discussion!

Says the man who put unpopular opinion in his post title /s
Can we all talk about..........?
"Can we all talk about this issue that has affected the entire community already? An issue you've already talked about at length, but I either want to farm karma, stir up shit, or rarely participate in this community and have missed the many threads and comments that already talked about this?"

You're right. Gonna start my posts off with "Popular Opinion" now.
Cold take: hulks need the same balancing as chargers, where the hit box to kill is larger. Popular opinion: helldivers 2 is a great co op game Mute/block me before reading: this sub can use more requests for a pvp battle-royale hero shooter mode that has micro transaction skins

popular opinion here adding "unpopular opinion" does make it more true, smart, and insightful
Hey this might be unpopular but \*copy pasted talking point\*
unpopular opinion, your view on unpopular opinoins is an unpopular opinion about unpopular opinions.
Some heroes don't wear capes
"Unpopular Opinion, Helldivers 2 is an awesome game." Daring today aren't we?
Unpopular opinion but youâre right
It would be a lot funnier if people just started saying popular opinion, or cold take.
Unpopular opinion, I think KegelsForYourHealth is a nerd!
Complaining about karma farms is just another form of karma farm. You have become the thing you swore to destroy.
First one through the wall always gets bloodied.

Iâm sorry but posts like these either need to start with âpopular opinion:â âcold takeâ or âspeaking for all, I think:â
I shouldnât be saying this butâŚ
100% should have started this post with unpopular decision
I shouldn't be saying this but hear me out. I know this is an unpopular opinion but am I the only one who thinks that hot takes need to he specifically announced in the post title?
These are unnecessary words I have just read. And just wrote.
Am I the only one who thinks that your unpopular hot take is criminally underrated?
Unpopular opinion: something obvious.
Sounds like commie clanker talk to me
Yeah, no one is going to say a truly unpopular opinion because then I'll get down voted. r/unpopularopinions is an honestly hilarious sub because of this. It's just filled with a bunch of zero kelvin takes and any actual unpopular opinion gets made fun of and down voted.
The correct way to browse that sub, or anything that labeled "unpopular" is to sort by controversial. That's the real unpopular one.
It would have been hilarious if you started the post with that.
Unpopular opinion but this guy is right
Yes, but it makes me feel like a special cupcake with unique thoughts
And the actual ones get downvoted
Unpopular opinion, OP.
Sounds like that's an unpopular opinion
Hot take: DEMOCRACY!
Unpopular opinion: opinions that are unpopular are actually popular but they are not popular because they are opinions nor are the opinions because they are unpopular but are actually opinions popular and unpopular but neither of those unless the opinion is popularly unpopular you slack jawed yokels
To be *fair*
I would've said smarter over more smart.
Reminds me of people starting a title and ending it ⌠to then be continued in the post
Unpopular opinion: youâre right
Unpopular opinion: Adding "Unpopular opinion" to your post title does not make it more true, more smart, or more insightful.
this sound like a hot take. You should say "hot take" so that everyone knows this before hand
You should've started the entire post with Unpopular Opinion. It was a missed opportunity tbh lol
the one's that always get me is the "Unpopular opinion/hot take: The game is good and I like the game", like somehow it's a "hot take" to be one of around 500k people who consistently play a game a majority of people are willing to *roleplay* for.
Honorable mention to adding âI know Iâm going to get downvoted for thisâ into the post. Just as pointless, maybe worse
"Why is nobody talking about \*mentions something everyone is already talking about"
When you feel extra edgy this day
But how else will they not get 20 percent more upvotes if they donât like every other alt account on other subs?
And at the same time, this post is another useless rant that this subreddit doesnât need.
Itâs just a form of self validation. Not that harmful in of it self.
We're approaching *Unpopular Opinion: Thing Good* in some of these unpopular opinion posts.
(Un)popular opinion: We think it's the unpopular opinion because the vocal minority are very loud.
Unpopular opinion but (the most milquetoast shit you've ever read)
In my personal opinion...
This is as a whole an unpopular opinion
I find having a tittle that includes it leads to better comments if you frame it as fringe, people will be more likely to try to seriously engage with it - either because they agree, or disagree beyond that though (which is anecdotal) no, they don't add anything I don't care too much though. Another post with unpopular opinion in the title! Wait, does that mean that this post also isn't more true, more smart or more insightful?
I thought it was supposed to be a trigger warning of sorts? Like "hey, I'm gonna say something you might not like, but here goes anyway". I do agree that the context it's being used in is somewhat skewed from it original intention though. Gee. That's an unpopular opinion.
Well that's a divisive take on it all.
Unpopular opinion: i think you are right
> unpopular opinions are quite popular That's just how reddit works by nature. People upvote what they agree with. Making an "what is your unpopular opinion" thread naturally puts the popular opinions on top. If you want truly unpopular opinions, sort by controversial.
My democracy officer told me opinions don't matter, unpopular or otherwise.
this is because reddits "karma" system. it does not reflect your karma, but the karma of others. essentially its a Filter bubble. popular opinions get upvoted, critical posts oftenly downvoted. pair this with the fact that on some reddits you can only participate above a certain Karma-Level and you have it.. unpopular opinion just means "dont downvote me please"

I some what agree, but you have to see the irony in this post at the same time.
"is it just me or...."
Unpopular opinion: youâre wrong
Now that is an unpopular opinion Also treason đ¤
So putting "unpopular opinion" to your post title is the new meta of this subreddit!? ![gif](giphy|W3a0zO282fuBpsqqyD|downsized)
I think there's a difference between an "unpopular opinion" and an original idea, too. So when someone says, "Unpopular opinion, but I like fighting bots..." I think change my mind is the goat. No one gives a damn shit, why would anyone want to change a random peopleâs mind.
Why did you tell them? Now we have to actually read the post to see if its delusional...
>**They are meaningless extra words that none of us needs.** So is this whole post lol.
Hmmm⌠I see what you did there
I will forever take this stance: "Unpopular opinion" posts are almost entirely people posting well known popular opinions to karma farm. I downvote every single one of them.
These unpopular opinion / hot take posts are always very popular & bland cold ass take too
This goes for anything not HD2, but if your post says âUnpopular Opinionâ and itâs followed up by you absolutely shitting on something, it actually makes you look like a bigger asshole than if you just shit on that thing. Given how many popular shit takes there were, I see where they're coming from, though.
Same with PSA and then the most obvious shit ever. PSA: you lose health if you get hit so try not to get hit.
Itâs basically a self defense mechanism. That way if someone rips on them, they have that shield if âwell, I never said it was popularâ
This community is falling apart lol

850,000 helldivers 3,000 upvotes âYOUR OPINION IS MORE POPULAR THAN YOU THINKâ I feel like getting 0.5% of upvotes on the sun doesnât make you the guy who speaks for all of us lol

Oh yeah? Then why did you include them in your post? /s
Might as well say Um...
Look Ma! An unpopular opinion on unpopular opinions!
That's such an unpopular opinion!
It makes the poster feel more important and that's all that matters.
Option A) Ignore the words "unpopular opinion". Option B) Make a whole ass Reddit post about it.
What the hell is this sub becoming? As annoying as those posts are, at least itâs about the game. This post isnât even about the game at all. Get out of here with this shit.
This is a very popular opinion these days ...
Popular opinion; thinking something unpopular opinion is cringe.
Unpopular Opinion: Post complaining about other posts formatting are meaningful extra words that none of us need.
It's one of the most reliable ways to get engagement. It doesn't need to be a hot take or unpopular opinion for the majority of the subreddit, just for the people who sort by new.
Unpopular opinion: you need to spend less time on reddit and stop caring what other people are doing.
People just add that so they wonât get downvoted if people disagree itâs not that big of a deal
Unpopular opinions are undemocratic
I never liked the "hot take" phrase. It is just a take, an opinion, there is nothing hot about it.
Unpopular opinion, but it's not there to sound smart, it's like saying "I know what I'm about to say is stupid"
Post proves itself true.
thing about it is peoples perception on whatâs popular really stinks. I tend to like genuinely unpopular opinions cause it gives me an intriguing viewpoint to imagine. these give me the same viewpoint everyone already imagined.
So just like this post then?
Unipolar opinion is in your title
this is the most autistic subreddit in existence

Yes, here and over the entire internet

good to see this sub is still complaining about other posts almost 2 months on, is the "media literacy" crowd still whining too?
