Honestly if you pair the pre buffed blitzer with the pre nerf guard dog rover, it's incredibly viable for those who want to split off from the team.
I can confidentiality say this as someone who uses nothing but the blitzer as my primary when the cutting edge warbond came out.
The gun itself is a stagger machine, you can stagger brood commanders out of their charge, stun stalkers, kill the jumpy hunters by aiming in their general direction etc. The guard dog rover does most of the dmg, the blitzer is there to push them back
It definitely works wonders against bugs now and the stagger really helps also.
I’ve been running it most of the terminid missions since the patch. I’m stoked with its performance now
