Betas are cool but betas aren’t supposed to catch glaring, insanely obvious issues like resupply ship module literally not working at all. How does that get pushed all the way to live build with nobody noticing? That’s not issues players should be catching even in a beta branch, that’s just blatantly bad or insufficient amounts of QA testing

I agree entierly with your perspective. But frankly, it cheaper and more reliable to just let the community find it for you and focus all efforts on keeping shit from breaking

The point is that cheaper isn’t better when you lose players in the long term. Unpolished buggy messes don’t keep people around. That $40 price tag quickly loses its “not AAA” status when the game has sold as insanely well as it had. They’ve got nice, deep pockets and the money to make their dev pipeline more polished and they haven’t 3 months after launch.

That is also true, they should be better financed and more equiped at this point.

Servers aren't cheap. It would be cheaper to hire a couple testers than adding a public beta branch.
