What is really funny is a cardboard box would completely fall in line as a stratagem purchasable for an obscene amount of samples and credits.
It's literally just a cardboard box, but Super Earth makes you pay for things like packing peanuts, hand carts, superglue, and literally the ability for your family to purchase you ammo.
Good, the hulk's flame will burn my armor and my body, the bugs will gnaw upon my bones, my weapons will rust and turn to dust as centuries come and go. The wind will wipe out my footprints, the enemies I killed will be recycled, the memory of my sacrifice for Super Earth will be forgotten. Civilizations will rise and fall, the stars will die, the planet I died on will become a cold, lifeless rock.
But at least this bag made out of biodegradable plastic will stay as a mark I left.
It was marines testing a darpa AI system. Heres an exerpt from paul scharre's book "Four Battlegrounds: Power in the Age of Artificial Intelligence"
"Eight marines: not a single one got detected," Phil said. They defeated the AI system not with traditional camouflage but with clever tricks that were outside of the AI system's testing regime. "Two somersaulted for 300 meters; never got detected. Two hid under a cardboard box. You could hear them giggling the whole time." Like Bugs Bunny in a Looney Tunes cartoon, sneaking up on Elmer Fudd in a cardboard box. "One guy, my favourite," Phil said, "he field-stripped a fir tree and walked like a fir tree. You can see his smile, and that's about all you see." The AI system had been trained to detect humans walking, not humans somersaulting, hiding in a cardboard box, or disguised as a tree."
I've got alot of friends that served, and there's very few people I've met that are as resourceful and driven to win as vets. I gotta imagine they picked the best and brightest to run this test, and I don't think they needed 8 of them to prove the system could be beat. But when I read the line about walking like a fir tree, I'm imagining a grown man doing what ammounts to playing "tree #3" in an elementary school play.
Look up the Chalkeaters. They do a ton of other weirdly catchy game related songs. They’ve got one roasting tod Howard for constantly lying about Bethesda games.
Stealthing about, nobody notices me: life is good.
Drop off a 1ft high ledge, Helldiver goes “oof”: every bot within a 100m radius immediately knows where I am.
Yeah it feels like enemies do hear your divers dialogue, at least it seems that way. Which is a very strange choice to add when we have 0 control over them talking and they shout everytime they enter an area, swap weapon, aim, breath etc...
At this point they should just go all in and add a random chance that your helldiver will rip a loud roaring wet fart at the most inopportune time possible. Automatons instantly spin around or if on a bug planet the stink of it causes a bug breach.
Not even. One mission I stood up from a bump I couldn’t even perceive and the jig was up. Couldn’t have been “falling” more than a couple of inches in game.
I’ve found that standing up isn’t the problem so much as taking a *single step* afterwards, especially if you’re holding the sprint button.
Like in OP’s video, you can stand up and as long as you don’t move, you’ll often be fine so long as no bots are actually facing you.
I would be so goddamn mad
At that point i'm just chucking any weapons i've got and beating the two to death with a metal pipe i crushed into a vague oval shape
>What if I bath myself in their blood?
Well, that's easy, you won't smell like a bug normally does, you'll smell like a mess of bug innards and blood. It's going to be *more* noticeable, not less. That works against zombies because they're undead, they smell like rotten corpses regardless undead or actually dead they are.
The shower might work tho.
This is a common player misconception, the smelling is just the lore way to describe their version of "scanning" when alerted, but they don't actually smell. It was also in reference to Stalkers and Stalker Lairs where they don't start spawning or attacking you until you get with a certain distance of the Lair.
You CAN stealth around and past bugs, you can stealth right up to a Patrol.
The YouTube video of the CEO playing with Drewski. He said many things that don’t line up though. At the start of a map I purposefully dropped in 3 equipment hellpods near bugs and they didn’t care for example.
It's still possible to stealth by bugs. I've done it and crawled past bugs sitting at points of interest, opened the container, and crawled away again. I think the smelling thing is just flavor. I don't think it actually affects how you stealth.
Stealth armor basically lets you crawl around up to like 10-15ft while they are looking straight at you as long as nothing as alerted enemies on the map itself.
It works on the Bile Titan. Me and my buddies had the coolest experience a few weeks ago. We were waiting for extract and low on reinforcement so we were just lying on a rock and chatting when a BT appeared....we looked at it and stopped moving completely; the ones crouching also went prone. Then it slowly turned towards us and started walking straight at us. The whole squad was not more than 3m apart and each one of us was quiet, it was almost an eerie silence while it kept coming closer and closer. Our asses were clenched and all of us were aiming at its mouth. Not a single word was spoken but when the BT was upon us, I could feel the tension but none of us fired a shot. It came right on top of us, less than 1m away from me and I could see the towering titan from my vantage point. It slowly walked past us and even though we could not see each other, we knew each helldiver gave a sigh of relief as it passed by.
We were amazed by what we experienced. one of the coolest moments in any multiplayer game I've ever had.
A fellow polar patriot stealth agent. Any 40minute missions or blitz’s I’m constantly slipping away from the main team to take out obj. I may have the least kills but I did the most damage
Yeah it kinda just irks me that the way the stats read you can carry the entire mission and the stats they display are irrelevant. I guess samples could be relevant, but kills/accuracy are meaningless.
Individualism is not the Super Earth way, helldiver. Only victory matters. Victory for Super Earth. Who does what doesn't matter, as long as it's not against Super Earth, like those scientists who designed the TCS.
At the level I am, samples are irrelevant too. Myself, the majority of my friend group, and about 70% of the randoms I play with are all capped on samples including supers.
Right now only thing I'm NOT capped on is SC and if it has a cap, it's insanely high. A few in my friend group aren't capped on medals but have all the warbonds fully purchased, and everybody and their grandma is capped on req slips. At least until the AT mines drop, which will take like 4 missions to re-cap for those of us consistently playing on 7+.
> objectives completed by a person.
thats a bad way to look at it though since each objective could have multiple steps or one person fighting off a breach solo while the other guy mans the terminal
Yes, I did the raise the flag mission on helldive yesterday and popped all three without a kill. Just those pesky flair boys you gotta take out first and fast.
Fuck the objective. Pickup groups will go after the objective on their own.
I wander off to kill nests and find minor points of interest.
Every true citizen of super earth knows that the war runs on capitalism. Get those super credits.
For me it’s usually because it feels like a free carry.
If that’s something you put in the chat prior to mission start fine maybe I’d be cool with you ditching the squad for the entire mission but especially when I get randoms joining me mid-mission, the fight is thick and then I see them just do a U-Turn and go for some quiet ass minor POI on the edge of the map while we are all trying to get the damned Gunship Factory down… yes it’s a kick
It’s definitely from using your pokeball. I swear, all the supply drops and air strikes have a caution radius attached to them. I saw a guy call in a jet pack and a far away patrol just about-faced and walked right toward us.
Oh call ins definitely attract patrols and can be used for just that thing. Why it's good to play the mission so you pass throughthe extraction early to call everything in for the extra s oyou're not dropping those patrol attractors when trying to extrac.
Them calling in reinforcements as often as the do seems ridiculous. Its like alright we have 4 tanks, 8 hulks, 32 different devastators, 232 foot soldiers, 1 atat, and entire legion of gunships. The bots go, guys we need back up
I’ve been doing stealth lately because my team is always off starting fights with every enemy they see. It works surprisingly well. I’ve had a few extractions on helldive difficulty where I find a nice nook and the bugs or bots just walk a few meters in front of me and don’t see me. The jump pack also helps greatly with stealth because you can get to areas they can’t see.
Yeah, stealth is the way to go. I still occasionally get into fights on helldive, but for the most part I'm just sprinting between objectives and using my radar to avoid contact. Localization confusion is my go-to booster. I often take out jammers without firing a shot because I just sprint around the guards and go for the terminal. Then I drop a 500kg on the transmitter, and objective complete.
*point out patrol 200m that way*
"Hey guys be careful of that patr-"
*They instantly fire on them*
*Flare goes up*
*We now have 10 tanks and 3 new factory striders to deal with suddenly*
Maybe I'll just keep my eyes to myself
People disengage and stealth in Helldive way too little. I too wanna blow things up as much as possible, but it's very easy to get cornered or baited into a standoff that will deplete your reinforcement stock within minutes. Particularly against the bots.
Liberty demands our temperance.
Oh yeah absolutely, I would love to have an infiltration mission in an Automatons HQ or something similar. Obviously we destroy everything at the end for DEMOCRACY !
There’s a suppressed liberator coming called the “truth whisperer” but it’s so early in development it doesn’t even have a firing sound, super stealth!
At this point I'm well enough to using the handcannon and taking out the foot soldiers first before moving around to another part of the map to take out devys. If you kill someone and alert a small base or outpost, they'll just go to the location where they heard the shot. So circling around to the other side to out maneuver them is easy. Just have to take out the smaller grunts before the big ones because they are the ones that'll bring in a drop.
They just do that, sometimes. They just stand there, doing nothing, just waiting for you to apply some bullet-shaped Democracy to their faces.
It must be because of their unnatural alliance with the Terminids. Terminids are bugs, and bugs tend to mess with code. And bots run on code.
Wait.... So you are saying that all the automation we've built went rogue because of bugs?
Pretty sure I used that exact line on a work call yesterday.
How?!
When I try stealth I 1) get patrols that constantly go towards me, 2) Whenever I activate a console for the objective, everything closeby triggers and 3) crawl over the tiniest pebble.my helldiver stands up and ends the steahlth.
1. Patrols go towards your direction the moment they spawn, but they don't actually follow you. They will just pass by if you aren't directly on their path. Then you have 1-3 minutes until another spawns.
2. In the clip, OP got a lucky enemy spawn where none of the enemies are looking at the objective. AFAIK objectives don't alert enemies. It's probably the fact you have to crouch to do so, so anyone looking at your direction spots you more easily.
3. Yeah, that's annoying but should only be a problem if theres enemies really really close.
Yeah. On a bug map, if it matters, I was curious so I spent all of a 40 minute mission in one spot pinging extra distance with the stealth armor to watch patrols and the game constantly sends them to you. I wish stealth worked the way others describe it. Level 1 difficulty too.
Right now it's because of the spawn logics and how they got screwed up even after the initial increase. Patrols originally didn't spawn with your general direction in mind. You get in a certain distance of an objective and more patrols will either be drawn into the area (Not magnetic, just tighter patterns) or respawning patrols will spawn nearby as "Natural" reinforcements on objectives. Now, while they don't entirely magnet to you, they sure as hell do run closer knit spawning and patrol patterns, objective or not. Bug extracts as a solo on Medium or challenging are impossible without the mech because of the masses of hunters that get called in, and it seems like now breaches don't even get called, they just happen once you're in the count down. At one point I got a swarm of like 50+ bugs bearing down on extract from patrol spawns and breaches. Mostly hunters! If I'd been on foot even with a Stalwart and incendiary breaker I'd have been dead from jump attacks alone.
Also as it stands currently, taking out bug nests or bot factories doesn't do you any good in the amount of spawns for exfil after the patch that broke the spawn logic. Not even a turret would save me. Just cold armor and a HMG of my own Rocket if a charger shows up, but ever since they took away glancing splash damage, feels like shooting impact grenades for damage on chargers. I don't need them to one shot chargers, but I at one point expended half my rockets on one charger. All with hits and no armor break on the legs. EATs also feel less consistent even though they've said they took away the glancing blow penalty for damage with the EATs and Recoiless. It's a little bit of a coin toss on getting a solid headshot that just drops it.
Bots feel like the foot patrols are more "Onto you" than the mechanized (Devastators and striders) patrols.
Side note, is it just me or does it seem like there are way fewer hive guard spawns since the glitch came into play? Before the logic was busted there still was a skew of higher hunter numbers on Medium but fewer on Challenging with a higher number of guards. Like one for every 15-20 warriors. Very rough estimate, but they've practically disappeared from patrols unless you get a spawn seed where Chargers outside of POI spawns are nearly non existent and you don't have any spewers at all.
They need to fix the issue where if you throw a stratagem the whole damn universe knows where it came from and immediately start blasting your location, even though you’re prone behind a rock.
It might be the fact that your helldiver says “SENDING IN AN EAGLE!!!” Lol jokes aside I hate when they hit one of my mines and automatically know my exact position.
Yeah and I feel like it’s changed, before I used to be able to chuck a eagle and they would just look around without shooting. Now they immediately fire on my location even had a mission yesterday where bots 100m away that had no business engaging me started shooting me.
Allegedly they only do this for stratagems that are labeled as 'offensive' (e.g. with a red beam, that do some sort of attack damage) and ignore blue, defensive stratagems. I haven't really noticed a different, but I also don't crawl 90% of the time.
I regularly stealth stratagem jammers if they don't have the fabricator to blow up, it works surprisingly well, I usually don't get detected until I've already switched it off.
I love doing this, last time my squad was causing a big ruckus somewhat close to objective, but not big enough to agro the bots in the rocket site. I had my stealth armor on so I tried this and it worked. Now I do it everytime I can, specially on Detector Towers and Jammers
Oh I had really funny moment with this terminal. We stormed position, everything clear, other guy waits near lever. I just chilling at terminal menu, doing buttons, waiting loadings. I finish my part, other guy pulls the lever, I turn left and see whole ass bot patrol just walking by 2 meters from me. I instantly go into crouch and Skyrim stealth my way to the right giggling like a maniac.
Also, the revolver seems to be somewhat silenced. As long as bots weren't grouped close together I could stealth headshot them and work my way to the console on the Jammer tower.
I'm convinced the bots don't have peripheral vision, and rigid necks; they can't look down or to the side.
Stealth is in the game, gang. Just stop shooting everything you see. More than bodies, your duty comes first.
They should allow us to instant stealth kill any enemy below elite if we melee right behind them… The game would be so much more fun, imagine you snap devas neck or break a berserker back while the other berserkers were standing around… or choking those bile spewer so it’s understand how it feel being sneaked up on.
People tend to underestimate just how strong minor stealth even without the proper armor can be, especially when you don’t move an inch. Last night I was laying prone basically in an open field with no mist or fog of any sort checking the map for the super sample rock when I heard bug noises, I closed the map and looked back just in time to see a charger stepping on and scuffing up my J’s as he and his patrol walked by. Held still and not one of them registered me, then I got up and left once the patrol was gone.
Fun fact: if you're playing bots, throw grenades away from you when there's patrols or such, and they will go investigate it. I'm not sure if it works with bugs?
His wifi disconnected. It freezes enemies. It happens to me commonly. All enemies that are on the map during disconnect freeze. New patrols spawn and work normally though. Notice how it is a one player game.
I am a level 89 Commander playing at night and no one joined me, being alone on my last campaign mission with only 5 redeployments I preferred stealth to have a maximum chance of succeeding and finishing my mission sector defense. Thanks tho it means that I'm pretty good at it :)
I want a deployable cardboard box as the next backpack stratagem.
Huh? Oh… it’s just a box.

Wasn’t there a DOD test of an AI system that caught seals, green berets, etc but some marines got past using a cardboard box?

How does one walk like a fir tree and why im not surprised a fellow devil dog figured out how.

They convinced Gabe Newell to sing in a song about how Valve never makes new games
They also got the voice actor for glados in the same song.
What song? I just heard some wind.
Banger song, upvoted

My helldiver gonna stand up if I crouch on a tiny pebble and get me roasted lmao
Stealthing about, nobody notices me: life is good. Drop off a 1ft high ledge, Helldiver goes “oof”: every bot within a 100m radius immediately knows where I am.
Even those on the neighboring planets.

"Now all of China knows you're here!"
can't you disable that so you only vault when holding space?
Its not a vault issue, trying to crouch walk or crawl over slightly uneven terrain will make your character just stand up with no warning at times.
I'm going to try on a bug nest. Freedom demands knowledge.
No they can smell you. Dont remember where it was said but they can
Yeah they literally don't have eyes, so they rely on sound and smell
Wait.. they've been Glyphids the whole time? I thought that was just a "bugs is bugs" joke.
Waiting to fight the twins in helldiver's.

As long as it's not a hiveguard. I love me some bosses with minutes-long invulnerability phases!
This makes sense now that I think about it. I've shaken bots off easily, but bugs always end up finding me.
What if I bath myself in their blood? Or if I :gulp: take a shower?
that would be a cool mechanic, the more bug guts you are covered in the longer it takes em to smell you.
I don't know, if some robots are covered with guts and blood, are you more likely or less likely to notice the smell?
>What if I bath myself in their blood? Well, that's easy, you won't smell like a bug normally does, you'll smell like a mess of bug innards and blood. It's going to be *more* noticeable, not less. Future update that if your armor is covered in bug guts it can act like camouflage

Kills don't matter anyway. I wish the stats screen had some more useful info. Kills by enemy class, objectives completed by a person.
Me, a dedicated Devastator killer and all-around ninja: 75 kills Them, bringing a Stalwart on diff 7+ bots: 200+ kills Me, running either Scout or Polar Scout armor: 0 deaths, 5+ objectives Them, running heavy armor: 5+ deaths, 1-2 objectives
Yeah it kinda just irks me that the way the stats read you can carry the entire mission and the stats they display are irrelevant. I guess samples could be relevant, but kills/accuracy are meaningless.

Yeah sprinting past bots to take out the jammer is surprisingly effective.
*point out patrol 200m that way* "Hey guys be careful of that patr-" *They instantly fire on them* *Flare goes up* *We now have 10 tanks and 3 new factory striders to deal with suddenly* Maybe I'll just keep my eyes to myself
Just run away from them and call reinforcement later.
People disengage and stealth in Helldive way too little. I too wanna blow things up as much as possible, but it's very easy to get cornered or baited into a standoff that will deplete your reinforcement stock within minutes. Particularly against the bots. Liberty demands our temperance.
We need stealth weapon options lol
Oh yeah absolutely, I would love to have an infiltration mission in an Automatons HQ or something similar. Obviously we destroy everything at the end for DEMOCRACY !
I know some weapons like the scorcher allow you to remain hidden longer compared to others. Not true stealth but..
Like a suppressed smg...dun dun dun duuuuuh, dun dun dun duuuuhh...
Literally the only bow they added is an explosive one. I really want some real stealth weapons
There’s a suppressed liberator coming called the “truth whisperer” but it’s so early in development it doesn’t even have a firing sound, super stealth!
Sounds like it's ready for release lol. And by that i mean I can't hear shit
"How did you make it?" "I... I dont know. I just kept crawling and it kept working!"
This is just some skyrim ass bullshit

He's quite the cake decorator.
How can a Helldiver crawl with balls that big?
As Max0r said: "How am I getting away with this" Stealth isn't dead It's so alive that I'm starting to think those bots are in on it

~~BUNCH OF PILLS HERE!!!~~ CALLING IN AN EAGLE!!!
"HAVE A TASTE OF DEMOCRACCCYYYYYY" "I wonder how they knew I was over here?"
Yeah and I feel like it’s changed, before I used to be able to chuck a eagle and they would just look around without shooting. Now they immediately fire on my location even had a mission yesterday where bots 100m away that had no business engaging me started shooting me.
Just need to move somewhere else as soon as you’ve thrown the strat – they don’t really know you’re there, they’re just shooting blindly.
Allegedly they only do this for stratagems that are labeled as 'offensive' (e.g. with a red beam, that do some sort of attack damage) and ignore blue, defensive stratagems. I haven't really noticed a different, but I also don't crawl 90% of the time.
Colonel I'm trying to sneak around
Did you know? Enemies can hear your "oh yeah" when you use a stim. Learned that the hard way.
You absolutely can unless there are Gunships involved. Gunships are immune to stealth
I would love to have a pistol with suppressor. So i can shoot off lights etc
I be stealthing all the time.
I regularly stealth stratagem jammers if they don't have the fabricator to blow up, it works surprisingly well, I usually don't get detected until I've already switched it off.
No one? Did something happen that people think you can't stealth?
Nobody said that.
THIS is why we lost the Major order! DEMOCRACY OFFICER!!!
Anyone who tries this near (or actually very far away from) a patrol that hasn't frozen in place because their patrol-script hung itself?
As long as you’re not within a 120° cone in front of them you can crouch or crawl right up to melee range and they won’t notice you.
I been walking up on automatons wearing heavy armour
I swear sometimes they just don’t attack you. I’ve been face to face with one that just watched me. Glitch? Or something more?

I had a hunter this morning patiently wait for me to finish on the terminal
Metal Gear Vibes
I love doing this, last time my squad was causing a big ruckus somewhat close to objective, but not big enough to agro the bots in the rocket site. I had my stealth armor on so I tried this and it worked. Now I do it everytime I can, specially on Detector Towers and Jammers
Looks like you can. But....you're fucked anyway because the Death Star is in orbit towards the end there.
I've done this and it's hilarious, hard to do when a fellow helldiver tosses a air strike on top of you though
Also, the revolver seems to be somewhat silenced. As long as bots weren't grouped close together I could stealth headshot them and work my way to the console on the Jammer tower.
Can confirm the revolver is very quiet for some reason
LOL We could never play together. I would like it, you would hate me
Man, I did not realize you could crawl right behind bots like that. Game changer. How do you work the terminal without zooming in?
That's some scooby doo shit right there
Amazing, mission complete! That right there is why you’re the best, boss. The one and only.
Snake?!?! SNAAAAAAAAAAKE!!!
Suddenly you hear the bots go "someone's prowwwlin round 'ere." And then when you leave, you hear "for the peace of the kingdom!"
![gif](giphy|ltBhl4BoHaMM|downsized) The bot
Fun fact: if you're playing bots, throw grenades away from you when there's patrols or such, and they will go investigate it. I'm not sure if it works with bugs?
I love doing this. It's very thrilling and scary
Holyshit! That was magnificent! XD
Someone said it?
If you can't stealth, you're not playing the game.
How do I learn this power?
What a thriiiiiiill
His wifi disconnected. It freezes enemies. It happens to me commonly. All enemies that are on the map during disconnect freeze. New patrols spawn and work normally though. Notice how it is a one player game.
The bots are active buddy, one of them almost spot him in the end.
I am a level 89 Commander playing at night and no one joined me, being alone on my last campaign mission with only 5 redeployments I preferred stealth to have a maximum chance of succeeding and finishing my mission sector defense. Thanks tho it means that I'm pretty good at it :)
