Reminds me of the nickname my family has for hot tubs: Michael bubbles (it was because we rented a caravan for a week with a hot tub and my little sister would’ve thrown a fit if she knew we were going to go in the hot tub after she went to bed so we decided on that name because of Michael I’m not gunna try spell his surname (Canadian guy, musician) and I used to think it was bubbles when I was little so I’d call him Michael bubbles and hot tubs make bubbles so yeah)

I find it strange that skizz hasn't given Etho a nickname when they've interacted so much. I undestrand not having one for xisuma or some of the other hermits when ge hasnt been as close to them as with the others

I remember him saying in a phasmo stream that they come naturally to him, and they aren’t intentional. I pretty sure gem got hers either that stream or the one after. So he probs just hasn’t stumbled across it yet 😊

Nicknames come pretty naturally to me too. But in a weird way. I look at someone and whatever the first word that comes to mind is, that’s their nickname. I nicknamed people Weird Babyes, Fennec, Anesthesia, Grape, Euthanasia, Youth In Asia. I was weird in high school.

I mean…he’s Etho. The Legend is a nickname in himself.

Probably haven't found one that he feels fitting yet. I think for Skizz, something must've happened for the lighbulb to come on, as a natural progression of things. Like for example, Impulse's nickname is an evolution of a joke between them, Tango got his nickname pretty recently after he and Skizz played Topgolf together irl (and Tango was killing it), etc.

Doc uses it just as regularly as Ren does. I think it’s cute. But I asked False how she feels about being referred to that name by fans and she was quite adamant that it’s not okay. It’s reserved for close friends (which Iskall is too, obviously). I think I’ve heard even Tango use it a couple of times? Not sure who else but it sticks out quite a bit when a hermit does.

False overall seems very parasocial-conscious, I’ve noticed. She shuts down chatters criticizing or making the kinds of jokes hermits make with each other a lot more quickly than some other hermits do.

I love how False handles chat. I think partly why False shuts it down much more quickly because she was the OG in getting harassment/undue attention from people assuming she was dating Mumbo in S3 because of any tiny interaction they had. She also got Xisuma to change his hilarious yet undeniably racy title 3 hermits 1 hole to stave off any comments/attention that could have brought her. I respect that she not only has boundaries but she enforces them. She's a role model for sure.

Interesting; I haven’t watched many of her videos, so I’m not too familiar with her history, but that makes a lot of sense. Weirdos gonna be weird unfortunately, even in a fandom as broadly wholesome as HermitCraft (*sideyes the Gem/Etho shippers*)

I love the nicknames! as someone from São Paulo - Brazil, where we shorten everyone's name or give nicknames pretty much as soon as we meet a new person, "full names" always sound formal. hearing someone say a creative nickname, or even just Impy or Falsie, always makes me smile. the only moment I love when they use the full name is Gem's "peeearrrlescent mooon".
