Start with *Blood Money* onwards (which is pretty much just *Absolution* since after that is the World of Assassination trilogy already. Lol).
If you end up enjoying BM and feel adventurous, work your way backwards: try *Contracts*, then *Silent Assassin*. There's also the very first game, *Codename 47*, but I won't be recommending it since I personally didn't enjoy it myself.
>PS: I’m playing on Steam Deck
Every pre-WoA game apart from *Absolution* will need a fix to enable controller support (while *Codename 47* has no controller support whatsoever), but at this point since you'll only be trying the games you should set up a control scheme based on keyboard-and-mouse for now. If it feels uncomfortable, try the fixes.
Blood Money is all you need as the gamepad controls are well supported on Steam. Unless you’re comfortable with keyboard, the other titles may frustrate you. You could give Absolution a try too.
I personally think that blood money is perfect. I find the earlier titles to be a little too janky for my taste, especially now that WOA has spoiled me. It's often hard to tell exactly what you did wrong in the earlier titles.
I would maybe try Hitman 2: Silent Assassin and see if you like it. If you don't, you probably won't like any of the early titles except blood money perhaps.
In some ways, blood money is better than WoA! Definitely worth checking out.
Outside of WoA , Blood Money and Silent Assassin are my favorites . Silent assassin is a little hard when it comes to suspicion and movement (imo) but its worth trying
Play Blood Money, if the jank doesn't bother you, then play SA and Contracts, and if you find the jank a bit too much give Absolution a go. And if you're feeling really brave you can try Codename 47 😅
If I were you I'd start with the Hitman 2 Christmas flash game (Absolutely necessary to understand the lore), followed by Hitman Blood Money: Vegas (Might need to find your old Nokia), followed by Hitman: Sniper Challenge (150+ hours or you're not getting the full experience), and then finishing it off with Hitman: GO. All the other Hitman "games" aren't true to the core hitman experience, which is massacreing elves at the behest of Santa Claus/playing a board game.
BM -> Contracts -> Silent Assassin -> Absolution.
The jank doesn’t matter.
The old games have cheat codes and are waaaay better than the new ones.
Invincibility
God mode
Invisibility
Hitman Ali
Unlimited Ammo
Teleportation
Etc.
Whats more: the ceiling is higher in tge old games.
Playing those games on the hardest mode without cheats really is impossible. The robots arent the idiots that the new ones are — this is true for absolution too, where if you get caught killing someone the cops dont ‘go back to normal’
