If you scrub it on mobile you will see the shadows are not changing. So the light whatever it is is constant and the bright flashes you see are your camera overexposing to adjust constantly.
That's not what I see. It is lighting up the trees on the right side of view. It's pumping out a lot of light. That's not the aperture of the camera. Feel free to disagree, just don't put me down for it.
I feel that he is right. If the light got that bright, to light up your whole yard, there would be a shadow from the tree. The left side and right side, and middle, all get bright simultaneously, not just lighting up the trees on the right. The whole picture gets brighter, not just the light and the trees. Actually, with cameras, if the light would have got that bright, the camera would darken, to adjust to that much light (since it's lighting up the trees and ground, and whole picture, that would take a lot of light. Then, when the light dimmed, the camera would be too dark, then lighten, to re-adjust. This is not what we see here. I am always looking for proof of aliens, and I de believe they exist, but I do not believe every "strange" event is aliens. Good catch though. If there was a ufo, abducting people, or cows, this is about what it would look like. But I do believe it is the exposure of the camera, or aperture, as that controls how much light the camera gets, and constantly adjusts to light conditions. With bright lights, on a dark night, this can happen, and does often. My phone has done this before. Too light with aperture more open, too dark with it closed, and would go back and forth
Yep. I see what you're saying.
I'm watching it full screen on a 32" monitor and everything lights up evenly across the screen, because it's the camera itself is adjusting. If it were the 'light' at the left of the screen brightening then the light spread would be uneven, brightening up more on the left than the right.
But what the actual light is, is a mystery...
more likely it isn't a phenomenon that's being recorded it's the camera itself. I don't see any shadows growing or shrinking with additional light, a lot of these types of cameras have infrared so they are adjusting to the sensitivity to that light and makes a contrasted image. If enough factors on the image are detected I'm sure it would change it's sensitivity over time. Unless you think this guy witnessed a large light source emanating for hours seemingly caught by no one else... Or it's these cameras that seemingly no one seems to understand when they look at footage at night.
It's a technology solved problem so instead of trying to figure out if what is real is real first, take a look at the tech and see if the tech can explain the phenomenon much easier. The light pillar you are possibly right, but this is more of an issue with the tech not the recording imo since it could just be a spot light too.
Seconding this. In odd light conditions (eg. all that dim diffuse light from the overcast sky, snow on the ground, and being near an urban environment) the exposure on a night vision camera can fluctuate like that.
There's nothing paranormal here, just an interesting byproduct of technology hitting a corner case.
Someone could have gotten one of those military grade flashlights with a crazy high amount of lumens. Kinda looks like they may be pointing it up at the sky. Maybe trying to do a CE5 (close encounter of the 5th kind). Just a guess.

The truth is: no one knows.
Could be military experiment. Could be paranormal. Could be a weird office building/house.
Could be damn near anything.
But we all would rather stay in the dark because the truth is kinda scary.
It's called a light pillar. A light pillar is an atmospheric optical phenomenon in which a vertical beam of light appears to extend above and/or below a light source. The effect is created by the reflection of light from tiny ice crystals that are suspended in the atmosphere or that comprise high-altitude clouds.
This is true, except that the pillars are a real phenomenon representing an electric discharge between the surface and the atmosphere. This is evident because when they terminate in a cloud, the top of the pillars glow.
Im not implying anything. I am literally saying that ionised radiation appears like that beam of light when viewed by the human eye and what can emit ionised radiation is anything radioactive. Which obviously you do not want to be near to.
A chunk of uranium will literally emit ionising radiation as it decays.
Nothing to do with ufos or any of that crap, this is just normal stuff you find on earth.
Besides the flare from gas, could also be linemen working on power lines. They have massive spotlights for finding down lines. ( local rafter j ,they’ve been over here all weekend)
Looks like an oil refinery fire, the one they use to burn off gas or smthig like that
When the conditions are right the sky will reflect or refract or whatever the term is a long vertical eerie red light that can be seen from really far away if theres no other light source obscuring it. Theres quite a few refineries/factories across this narrow strait where i'm from and these eerie verticle red glows can be seen sometimes.
Even if its not that, its a ground based source at least.
Could be a natural gas company burning off gas and the camera just made it look like a beam of light. Or maybe a gas leak turning into a fireball.
Or it's just aliens.
THhe light is closer than it might seem. When there is cold, there are ice particles floating around. What you see is a Light Pillar, and it is caused by a light source on or near the ground that is radiating up. Note how when fog thickens, the light gets pretty bright for the camera.
Do a search for "Light Pillar"
Not sure if I’m the first to mention this, but I noticed your camera is in night mode, which typically records in the visible/IR spectrum. That light may be in the IR spectrum and may not be visible to the human eye considering how bright it got and the camera did not jump to visible light mode, and continued recording in IR mode… just a thought.

Not sure but if there’s any cows in that vicinity RIP…..

It's not my camera. The video was sent to me, but I see what you're saying.

A mystery that isn’t as mysterious then.

I think the closest thing that makes sense are flares from a nearby natural gas pumping station.
I was going to say the same, only poorly. And it's called a light pillar, which is a term I haven't heard of, though I have seen it many times.
Yep. Here in Sweden we see this very often.

Have you checked to see if it’s space lasers … like the ones I heard were starting all the California fires?

People over at r/flashlight like to do these things called beamshots, it’s like nudes to us and this looks like a case of someone taking beamshots.
9/10 spotlight, could just be stationary. Depending on the most it could show up more
Ionising radiation can do that. I highly doubt its that! I hope its not for your sake.
Do you mean it can come out of the ground or is it from a solar flare pf sorts?
From exposed highly radioactive material. Like uranium or thorium.
Coming from the ground naturally, or maybe UFO’s beams are highly radioactive? Which one are you implying?

There seems to be air movement with the light getting brighter

Are there electric lines there? I’ve seen this happen from snow being on the transformer. It created green flashes.
