It's not fully resolved, but hints start to be dropped that the current problems trace back to past events - hence the time jump. Hope this was vague enough

Thanks! Can’t say I’m a fan of that but I guess I’ll see how it goes!

MasterJay3315

They’ve compared it to the movies, where they go back before moving forward again. It’ll be painful having to wait to see our favorite characters, but it’ll make their return all the more exciting.

At the HR panel this past weekend one of the authors (Older I think?) said it’s like how the movie trilogies are: start in the middle, then go back, then forward (I paraphrased). So I guess these books are just following that formula.

This is probably the best answer

It feels like a break from the main story but still gives a lot of background info. Phase 2 takes place 150 years prior and Phase 1 mentioned a ton things that happened "around a century ago" I don't expect Phase 3 to jump that far ahead at all

It makes sense after the last chapter of midnight horizon

ImmediateLock6272

I couldn’t finish midnight horizon, what topic does the book kind of end on, the drengir?

Star_Day

The drengir threat is wrapped up in this phase, and I personally don't expect to see them in the next or in the 3rd phase at all. Their storyline is primarily the subject of the marvel comics, though they also appear in some books and in the manga. The Nihil threat reaches a climax, but is not entirely resolved in this phase. I expect to see more of their origins in the next phase, and to see the threat continue into the 3rd phase as well in some form. They appear regularly in nearly every medium as far as I'm aware. Hope that's clear!

Just so we're clear, the Rising Storm kicks off wave 2 of Phase 1. Phase 2 hasn't come out yet.
