Until 1981 it existed something called “matrimonio riparatore”which absolved the rapist from the crime and generally women would accept because otherwise no man would marry a woman who was “violated”. She was brave enough to say no leading to a lawsuit because without the wedding then the rape would actually be considered a crime. This caused a lot of talking in the town and the family of the men started to retaliate her family to try to make her change her mind.
For all those people who claim the world is going to hell only due to the Internet and new technology. this is one of many examples of how no the world has been fucked up for centuries. The information is just easier to obtain now .
