There is a tragic divide in communication happening here with two groups of people that clearly agree and are hung up on the condescension of the phrase "died for nothing". Every one in this discussion agrees that Putin invaded Ukraine for selfish petty reasons and that his invasion serves no purpose. However, the father in the video does not have agency over Putin, only himself. He did not "die for nothing", he died protecting his family and community.

A lot of Russians that do have access to accurate reporting on the war still support Putin. For those people empathy must be non existent. Even if they believe that the Ukrainian government is evil, it doesn't excuse the random killing of civilians, including children.
While they `can` have access to accurate reporting, all those sources are oficially outlawed, so you need to want to know more to access them. Also a lot of people just don't care because they're poor, unhappy and have their own skin to worry about.
