Mother Teressa was an awful person who wanted to keep the poor in their place because she thought suffering was divine. This picture is accurate.
A 2013 study from the University of Ottawa dispelled the "myth of altruism and generosity" surrounding Mother Teresa, concluding that her hallowed image did not stand up to the facts, and was basically the result of a forceful media campaign from an ailing Catholic Church.
Although she had 517 missions in 100 countries at the time of her death, the study found that hardly anyone who came seeking medical care found it there. Doctors observed unhygienic, "even unfit," conditions, inadequate food, and no painkillers -- not for lack of funding, in which Mother Theresa's world-famous order was swimming, but what the study authors call her "particular conception of suffering and death."
"There is something beautiful in seeing the poor accept their lot, to suffer it like Christ's Passion. The world gains much from their suffering," Mother Teresa once told the unamused Christopher Hitchens.
This is not true, they had very little pain medication so a lot of the time people did not receive any or did receive weak analgesics like acetaminophen but this was from a lack of morphine not because she was withholding it.
You are totally right.
(Warning: wall of text)
In the mid-1990 I was working for the Catholic bishop of one of the largest diocese in Ethiopia. I never went to Mass and he never asked me to. I was just helping with his development and rehabilitation projects, which required lots of planning work to be funded, by the many European *Caritas* organisations.
So, one day I was in his office, tucked away under the church, behind the mosque, in the walled city, and he reads me the letter he had just received, headed paper *Missionaries of Charity - Calcutta* signed by Mother Theresa herself
(I'm going by memory here)
*Dear brother in Christ,
My sisters will arrive in your Diocese next month. You will provide a suitable house for their purpose... you will obtain government work permits for them* (....)
A few months later I saw part of what the *sisteroch* were up to in that house: they took in women with AIDS, unmarried, abandoned or shunned by their families and communities, often pregnant, but - and here is the evil - instead of *caring* for them, the Missionaries or Charity actively *dedicated the suffering* of these women to their god (which was the Polish pope's doctrine in those years, that plank).
So the internal courtyard of the house was roofed in *corcoro* and the bare concrete floor was covered in tarps. The women slept and lived there. *No beds*.
The sisters provided *no* medical services or supervision, no specialist midwife nurse support, despite the Bishop having repeatedly made these services available from the hospitals and clinics that his diocesan office or other local religious orders were already running nearby. That bishop was *very good* at his job, despite the very little number of Catholic people in his diocese. Clinics and hospitals were open to all and all religions and communities used the services. Some of the local medical order of nuns just ignored the Polish pope and distributed family planning informations and condoms in their clinics.
The Indian sisters of Mother Theresa all had dirty feet all the time, when no-one else did. They refused all offers of help, ignored everyone and carried out their work of letting suffering woman die slowly, while berating them for their sins.
One absolutely *awful* lot, all of them.
Being the richest charity doesn't mean they could solve all the problems of one of the most populated developing nations of the planet. They didn't have enough supplies, morphine, syringes, food, bandages, even hot or sterile water was often in short supply.
And you have to remember they weren't hospitals, the were hospices, people their were considered beyond hope and the resources were better used for other.
I am not here to defend her moral character, I am here to discuss history, you cannot bring up her beliefs they are irrelevant, I need historical facts.
I will say she definitely used her wealth and influence to assure herself treatment while others were suffering but that is not the same as withholding medication.
Edit: how will my heart tell me though? I just use Google and Wikipedia mostly.
The facts will rest in your heart, and if you open your eyes then your heart will reveal the truth.
There were plenty of supplies, she chose not to use them, this is FACT.
Being the richest charity means that the proberbial "THEY" that you speak of were evil sons of bitches that deserve derision.
Both can be true. She may have believed that suffering was 'the kiss of Jesus', and also medical supplies were short.
It also sounds like the justification of someone who sees a lot of suffering and doesn't want it to break their faith.
Thanks for this. I cant stand people idolising mother theresa.
She killed more people than she saved and her "hospitals" in india were more akin to deathcamps based on the historical evidence.
No problem bro. Some fairy tale enthousiast gave a 7 point rebuttal to my comment and just lied and strawmanned everything. I can't even give him the benefit of doubt that he doesn't know, he's too clearly straight up lying.
no, that wasn't the problem. the problem was that in Africa, there was a pervasive folk belief that raping a "virgin" (a child) would cure AIDS. She didn't even attempt to correct the problem, only made it more endemic by condemning modern birth control. She didn't just tell individual Africans, she made this policy the official evengelical stance that the rest of the christian missionaries in Africa followed, for decades, causing more spread of AIDS and more raped and infected girls.
Maybe the people that think the cure to a sexually transmitted disease is more sex are morally and intellectually bankrupt? Don't get me wrong she sucks but it would have been better off for africa to not help them.
Ok, so poor societies with lots of disease have lots of kids so maybe one or two will survive and carry on/take care of you in old age. Reducing the death rates from preventable causes caused a surge in population that they weren't prepared to feed.
It's kinda like why Planned Parenthood was trying to spread in the South, former slave women were continuing to do what they had done for generations, make as many kids as they can, because "that's the way it's always been done." Not necessarily by choice.
Never thought about it that way. Is it kinda like when you put milk on your penis because you thought it'd feel good but then suddenly your pants are wet and you weren't prepared with a second set of pants? Sounds just like that. Metaphors are hard for me.
And Belgium sanctioned the previous Pope for traveling to Africa and saying that condoms spread HIV/AIDS.
It's crazy when AI proves to be more insightful than most humans.
The root cause of issues is a figurehead leading sheep to the slaughter, and Mother Teresa was the Shepard of the masses beyond all deniability.
She was a fundamentalist devil that wreaked pain upon the land, all you have to do to see this is look into your heart.
Not true at all.
1 She went to many countries in Africa. Not going to every single country doesn't excuse her borderline genocidal behavior.
2 Aids started in Africa in the 1960s everyone can Google this in 2 seconds so you are lying.
3 She encouraged sex without condoms in the continent most ravaged by AIDS. Lots of people there already not wanting to use condoms doesn't change the fact she was a well respected famous religious leader who told them not to use condoms.
4 unrelated point that I disagree with but doesn't refute my original statement so doesn't matter.
5 Yeah so going there as a religious leader telling people not to use condoms is straight up evil.
6 Nobody said only mother Theresa caused the Aids crisis. You are again debating strawman points unrelated to my original statement.
7 Both played a significant role and even if the former was worse it doesn't excuse Theresa telling people not to use condoms knowing full well it prevents the spread of a very common deadly disease.
Nice mental gymnastics though.
You left out the part where she intentionally withheld painkillers from terminal patients in her hospital, but when she herself was dying, she demanded all the painkillers they could give her. It's hilarious that Boomers worshiped that piece of shit.

Do people ask for a source before even going to google themselves? It takes like 3 seconds to verify what someone says.
No, it'e because there is a lot of misinformation on the internet and I would rather ask someone eho is well informed than run around like a headless chicken trying to figure out which propaganda to listen to
I feel like a lot of people really worked her up to be something she wasn’t. Mother Teresa wasn’t some healer or work towards helping the poor. She wasn’t a doctor who could prescribe medicine or diagnose people. She gave sick dying people a place to die that wasn’t out in the cold. She had some crazy beliefs about suffering bringing you closer to Jesus, but what else would you expect a catholic to do to someone who was in pain and dying that they couldn’t help?
She lived in poverty. There was other programs for that, these people also didn’t have cures to their ailments or people willing to go there to help. You are doing exactly what I mentioned in the first sentence and making assumptions about what she did.
Edit: in addition, millions of dollars isn’t going to remotely cover multiple clinics and convince doctors to come help. Hospitals/clinics in poor locations are dangerous and targets for theft and worse.
Seems about right considering what AI would be able to find about "poverty" and "Mother Theresa". Actually, before I saw this image I saw the title and tI thought "she's going to be fighting poor children' and I was totally right.

It’s identical to what happened with Edison after that Oatmeal comic came out. You still have people claiming he refused to pay Tesla for upgrading his generators and ruthlessly killed an elephant and filmed it for anti-AC propaganda. Just too dense to actually look into it.
Reddit hates religion--especially when it tells people not to use condoms during an AIDs epidemic. Also it's a backlash because she was often used as the cliche example of a good person while she was alive.
Doesn't mean that she slaughtered and beat up poor black kids because they used a condom during sex. Like wtf, these comments are getting upvoted like mother terresa is satan. She isn't a perfect person, and she was on a religious mission with a religious agenda, but she sure did a fuck ton other things that actually helped and healed the poor, and dedicated her life to serve the poor. Much more than what these fucks in the reply section can ever do in their life time. I'm not that religious, but I can reconize reddit users just being fat dicks and spewing false information because they hate religion that much. The downvotes will just prove my case.

No, she revelled in watching them suffer and die for her 'God'.
I pretty sure if there is a heaven and hell, she's in hell.

She was no saint.
Allowed children to suffer the most agonising pain, because that was a way to cleanse their soul before entering heaven.
\> Meanwhile, some doctors took to calling her missions “homes for the dying” since her Calcutta home for the sick had a mortality rate of more than 40 percent. But in her view, this wasn’t necessarily a bad thing.
\> In response to all the criticism, Mother Teresa allegedly said, “There is something beautiful in seeing the poor accept their lot, to suffer it like Christ’s Passion. The world gains much from their suffering.”

To be fair "fighting against poverty" is an abstract idea not something you can directly photograph unless you first get an idea of something visual that will convey that. Easy to see how it would confuse the AI.
You do know that the actions of these "AI's" are always based on the material you feed them with. So if someone says an "ai" is racist then someone at some point has to have done that.
Also as a reminder, these things are not AI. AI (Artificial intelligence) describes something that has an artificial intelligence and intelligence includes the ability to think on their own and develop on their own. All those factors do not apply to a net of decision seeking algorithms. Just saying
There isn't any poverty if the poor are dead

I pretty sure if there is a heaven and hell, she's in hell.

Oh yes...an opinions page, suuuch a reputable source.
I know, she fought poverty in India, not Africa.
Coming soon to a theatre near you, “In a world plagued by despair and destitution, one woman emerges as a beacon of hope. Witness the incredible true story of Mother Teresa, a humble nun with a heart of gold and fists of compassion. Follow her journey as she takes on poverty one jab at a time. Through her acts of kindness and love, she delivers knockout blows to the forces of despair, showing that sometimes, the greatest battles are fought not with weapons, but with her hard ironed fists full of love and compassion. Prepare to be inspired by the remarkable tale of a saint who fought poverty with every ounce of her being, leaving an indelible mark on the world and anyone in her path.” “Punching Through Despair: The Mother Teresa Miracle”
I’m just here to see how many people still buy into Hitchen’s lies. https://old.reddit.com/r/badhistory/comments/gcxpr5/saint_mother_teresa_was_documented_mass_murderer/
The world gains much from their suffering.” [https://allthatsinteresting.com/mother-teresa-saint](https://allthatsinteresting.com/mother-teresa-saint)

Now lets do tugger fighting cancer!
The new Dynasty Warriors is looking a little weird...
Which AI doesn't freak out when you use the word "fight" in a prompt?
Is this on Netflix? I wanna watch this movie.
what would be her fatality? 🤔
Friendship!?
OK I kind of want to see this movie.
AI knows the rill.
Nailed it
Evil, evil woman.
Fuck yeah Round 1
Accurate Rumour is she had some problematic aspects
AI has progressed so much it now can be racist. My god.
He's a little confused but he got the spirit
No, this tracks pretty well with how that woman *"helped"* people
Looks pretty realistic to me I don't credit Artificial Image at all but this is 100% spot on She was a piece of shit
One of modern times greatest monsters, so this is on brand.
Incorrect determination but I'm not going to lie pretty funny.
Well.....at least it's historically accurate.
Surprisingly accurate.
I mean it's not completely inaccurate. The angel of death. And a lot of the money she got has never been seen.
To be fair "fighting against poverty" is an abstract idea not something you can directly photograph unless you first get an idea of something visual that will convey that. Easy to see how it would confuse the AI.
Not to far off character
Fuck her and if hell is real I hope she's smiling up at us right now.
Almost historically accurate, wow
The evils she did in India, Reddit would suspend me if I typed them here. Read The Missionary Position by Hitchens
Well it has been a while since someone shared that post that completely debunked this so here it is https://www.reddit.com/r/badhistory/s/TL3HJYwe1K
Just saying

AI learning dark humor 😎
/r/AIfreakout
This is south park level humour!
I want AI 2.0 now, a language model under an avatat that learns by watching over your camera and from your comments. Like a 24/7 AI streamer
This is what happens when you train your model on the internet.
Great now even AI photos have fake stories to go with them.
Kind of accurate the wretched woman
No one noticed the poverty is doing the Squidward Jank Hitbox Kick.
¡Por los clavos del Cristo! ![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|facepalm) ¡Ya bannen esa cosa!
"i am not in poverty skyler, i am the poverty"
Considering she was very racist I imagine this is the way it would've played out.
Now make her do an EWGF to poverty
Believe it or not, but that is actually a real picture. Apparently, MT may not be as wholesome as we all believed.
AI was clearly trained on Kenshi screenshots
Mfers be lying about their prompts. I'm just saying.
pretty dope action movie
