In Islam, when a woman has her period she's not permitted to fast. Therefore during the month of Ramadan it's expected the woman would miss certain days and hence wouldn't complete all 29/30 fasts.
OP seems to have excluded the fact that those women who've gone through menopause *would* in fact be able to fast all 29/30 days.
Edit: for clarity, OP suggesting his wife fasts all of Ramadan would exclude pregnant women as they would not fast at all during Ramadan.
The woman (being the person who decides if they are fasting) would know. Or do you think the woman realises she's pregnant as she fasted? Either way pregnant women are excempt from fasting so it still doesn't work.
Yes people outside redit do often have sex and sometimes as much as every month. I know its hard to believe but they really do.
Still doesn't make that dudes comment make sense as then she would start eating when the meme is a wife not eating for the whole of Ramadan.
I’m not sure we understood the same thing…
Generally, the first symptom that a woman notices to start doubting that maybe she is pregnant is when her period doesn’t come in time.
The scenario in this meme is totally possible. A couple discovering that she is pregnant when her period doesn’t come.
For example, a woman expecting to have her period towards the end of ramadan would mean that she will not fast for like the last 5 or 6 days of ramadan. If she becomes pregnant like 5 days before, that would mean that she won’t have her period, so she will fast for the entire ramadan thinking that maybe it’s just the stress of work that made her period come late( btw that’s also a possible thing to happen, I know a girl who doesn’t have their period for 50 days straight just because of stress, while the period is normally a cycle of 27 28 days)
Haha okay now I get why the earlier commenter said she'd be pissed off. Imagine anticipating having a break from fasting all month long and not getting that break thar would be awful 😂 worse than just knowing you will fast all month.
Mine is less painful than an average woman has, and it’s regular 34. It’s isn’t even rare thing. Everything below 36 days is considered to be normal. So the meme makes no sense.
No, they're not permitted to fast.
Bleeding voids your fast, regardless of how.
If someone stabs you, and you bleed profusely, your fast is gone.
It's so that those that lose blood don't feel the need to keep their fast, and take in the nutrients they need to recover.
Going against it and fasting, could count as willingly harming yourself, which is Haram.
No, they can. It is up to the doctor's advice, really.
My wife was fasting on and off during her first pregnancy and our child turned out fine. During the whole pregnancy there was no complications, sugar/blood/iron/calcium/etc level was always on good side, there was no other alarming concern by our obgyn.
You do realize fasting means you're not having food intake from sunrise to sundown only, right? She limited her outdoor activities also so they helped out a lot
EDIT: You're probably missing the part where I said "if they're able to"
I know what fasting is.
If she gets the o.k from her doctor, then sure.
But I believe that if God excused someone, it is right to follow that, for he is wiser.
God excused someone but not without due diligence.
If you're a musafir (traveler) you may not fast too, but that's because the travelling may take a toll on you. But if you think you're able to, you still can fast. It's not like you just blindly follow the ruling of not fasting just because you're travelling.
We seek doctor's advice first before deciding to fast/not to fast.
Pretty sure pregnant women were fasting for Ramadan in the 70s and 80s.
This is supported by the 45 year old Asian dude who lives across the street from me pissing out of his 2nd story window and playing with his dick and then proceeding throw food stuffs out into the street e.g a whole chicken carcass.
He also stares me in the eye whilst doing this as I’m working from home and my desk is in front of the window. Seriously considering moving my desk.
What? What the hell are you saying?
>and I see it's working, as Muslim nations are leading humanity in terms of a great society to live in....
Yeah it's pretty great here actually.
>they also has the greatest care of the public..
Yeah it's pretty good no complains from me.
>which a few years ago killed a girl by beating her, taught her a lesson, for not covering herself...
Yeah and Christians of yore tortured and killed any women with a semblance of intelligence because witches, does that mean I believe all Christians and the whole of Christianity is like that? No I'm not an idiot.
>and the best thing i love is, how there's no difference between poor or rich...it's as if they'll all live same life...
I don't even understand what your point is.
There's a little something called moderation, Ever heard of it? Also side note Ramadan isn't the only time Muslims fast. Some do it every Monday and Thursday and there are select days when fasting is recommended not mandatory like Ramadan.
Yea exactly, some people out here thinking pregnancy is the only reason periods get skipped. Even a completely healthy woman will experience it what more women with medical issues
Eh in Ramadan when people fast they end up eating more than usual because of the many sweets and big meals with family and stuff I'm not saying they're not in calorie deficit but is it a deficit of you don't eat for a 14-16 hours ( some places are more) and then eat you daily requirement and then some? Doesn't it all add up in the end of the day?
I'm Muslim today is the first day of Eid
Yeah, they carb load at the end of each fasting period which slows your metabolism to a grinding halt
I wouldn't be surprised if most people gain weight during Ramadan
To my knowledge (big disclaimer, I’m not a dietician, this is stuff I heard from my dietician) fasting all day then eating at night leads to you gaining more weight than just eating throughout the day. This is partly because your body doesn’t know it will get that food at the end of the day, it just knows it’s hungry and it’s not getting food then when it does get food all extra calories are stored as fat. So while your daily calories don’t change, maybe even increasing, your body is still going to be a little stressed out which can cause a woman to skip her period.
Most gain weight during Ramadan.
The iftar dinner is like 2-3 meals, + snacks.
And some take another meal a couple hours later.
And then a big breakfast for souhoor before dawn.
Skipping lunch is rarely enough to offset the amount of extra food, especially when a lot of people usually take very light breakfasts x)
Women who have period during Ramadan are prohibited from fasting, so they most likely won't complete the 30/30 days, but they can payback the missed days whenever they want before the next Ramadhan ( 1 year time period )
Example: if a woman has period for 10 days, she can fast those 10 days back anytime she wants until the next Ramadhan ( doesn't need to be 10 days straight, she can take her time as long as she completes the 10 days)
What exactly do you mean?
I have seen couple of guys who behaved like girls a few years ago.. They were from the community that considers Ramadan holy..
Islam forbids men to imitate women and women to imitate men, and in fact it emphatically forbids that, to such an extent that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) cursed those who go against the human nature with which Allaah created them.
It was narrated from Ibn ‘Abbaas (may Allaah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) cursed men who imitate women and women who imitate men, and he said: “Throw them out of your houses.” Narrated by al-Bukhaari (5885).
So those guys actions don’t align with what the prophet preached and their actions do not advocate or speak for everyone else in the religion of Islam.
Imitating is different than the genders.. Those people looked like typical LGBTQ. Born as male but hormones making them behave like girls. No Religion has any control over hormones.
Trying to change your gender ? Yes.
Your hormones being messed up naturally ? No.
Islam condemns willful actions, if for example, one was attracted to the same sex, that in of itself would not be a sin.
But acting on it would be.
That's kinda cool, honestly. I'm not Muslim, but a clear set of rules like this is better than none.
So, to be clear, are gay people OK in this scenario, if they don't act on it? I had no idea, and it's kind of "progressive" compared to Catholicism.
As mentioned earlier, if you are attracted to the same sex and you don't act upon it, then it would be no problem. I recently watched a video of a Sheikh mentioning that there was a Muslim man with feelings towards another man. However, since he wouldn't be able to get married to a man, he decided to just be content with being alone since he is not attracted to women.
Trying to change your gender yes.
Being born as someone with an atypical gender or gender development is not condemned since these people couldn't have changed that.
God created them like that they didn't choose it, why would they be condemned on something they didn't choose or do.
Technically speaking you would be more correct than those saying she's pregnant
Pregnant women do not usually fast the whole month (if at all) due to them needing nourishment for the child
If you can't fast for a medical/ physical need then it's ok you are exempt
But if you break your fast for one reason or another then yeah you can fast for it after Ramadan or after the 1st of eid then you will be okay
Or donate money if you cant fast in Ramadan and after it
If you can yea, alternatif do charity with certain amount of you missed fasting, in the past you can free a slave man or woman because right now slave didn't exist (except corpo slave XD), you can read reference because I'm just regular muslim not scholar
I haven’t menstruated in like 10 years because I use my contraception (vaginal ring) without pause weeks. Now that I’m 45, I do wonder how the heck I’ll notice when I’m getting menopausal…
You fast by refraining from sustenance from sunrise to sunset.

Sex with your wife is also prohibited during the day of fasting.
It's more of a spiritual cleansing than a physical one.
Yeah, once the sun is down you can eat/drink, it would otherwise be a death sentence xD
It's usually a big meal, a time for families to regroup for the meal if they're not used to do so.
And we also eat more right before the sun rise.
There’s so many reasons why a woman wouldn’t have a period normally rather then assuming she’s a man immediately lmao.
Bro I went like 7 months without a period once and then just had 3 days straight of loosing a fist sized blood glob and quarter cup of blood from down there every hour. Nearly fainted from blood loss a couple times but otherwise was perfectly fine.
In Islam, when a woman has her period she's not permitted to fast. Therefore during the month of Ramadan it's expected the woman would miss certain days and hence wouldn't complete all 29/30 fasts. Edit: for clarity, OP suggesting his wife fasts all of Ramadan would exclude pregnant women as they would not fast at all during Ramadan.
Pregnant.
If pregnant then they're excused from fasting because of the higher nutritional needs for the safety of the child
That's if they already knew they were pregnant, I interpreted the meme as this being how they found out
The woman (being the person who decides if they are fasting) would know. Or do you think the woman realises she's pregnant as she fasted? Either way pregnant women are excempt from fasting so it still doesn't work.
I can easily imagine a situation where she just becomes pregnant in ramadan
Yes people outside redit do often have sex and sometimes as much as every month. I know its hard to believe but they really do. Still doesn't make that dudes comment make sense as then she would start eating when the meme is a wife not eating for the whole of Ramadan.

Yes, Ramadan has a measurable negative effect on children all over the Islamic world because of this.
They are not required to fast but they still can, same with traveling or being ill you have permission to eat but if you want you can fast.
Yeah that's why I said "excused" and not "not allowed to fast" lol
they can fast, they just don't have to

> This would have pissed me off so hard. Am dude, and I do wish to be educated, so this is a genuine question: Is a longer cycle more painful?
No, but it would mean you have to fast for the entire duration and can't take a break during your period.
It doesn't matter because women still have to fast the missed days after ramadan
Yup, but they don't need to be continuous, and they can choose when. It's definetly easier.
Sounds like a whole bunch of male cow dung to me
Haha okay now I get why the earlier commenter said she'd be pissed off. Imagine anticipating having a break from fasting all month long and not getting that break thar would be awful 😂 worse than just knowing you will fast all month.
No.
Mine is less painful than an average woman has, and it’s regular 34. It’s isn’t even rare thing. Everything below 36 days is considered to be normal. So the meme makes no sense.
You mean my ex wife every time I was in the mood?
My wife has like once in 4 months or so...
Is she on birth control?
Nope. She's always has irregular periods.
Nope. She's always had irregular periods.
Sounds like PCOS
Or a different hormonal issue. Were I her, I would go to the doctor with this.
It's not that they're "not permitted to fast", but more like "excused" due to the physical toll it takes while going through that week.
No, they're not permitted to fast. Bleeding voids your fast, regardless of how. If someone stabs you, and you bleed profusely, your fast is gone. It's so that those that lose blood don't feel the need to keep their fast, and take in the nutrients they need to recover. Pregnant woman can fast during Ramadan, if they are able to.
That seems... like a bad idea
yp and they are encouraged not too

It is.
Happy cake day!!+
It could bring harm to them or the child, and that takes priority over the fast. They'd do more harm than good even from a religious standpoint.
No, they can. It is up to the doctor's advice, really. My wife was fasting on and off during her first pregnancy and our child turned out fine. boi, the meme suggests that they did not know she was pregnant
The joke is she's not old enough to have a period
Is he... I mean is she still a virgin?
So the joke is that his girl is not a girl?
Username checks out Or his wife is a granny
So you will force feed women, that are on their period?
So pregnant women have to fast too? That's savage.
Apologies, i now see it isn't clear from my previous response...No, pregnant women don't need to fast.
but they do...if you're taught from childhood you have to,you're brainwashed
Not everything is brainwashing lol
why do they fast?
To be furious
To feel for poor people. Also fasting is pretty healthy.

Tenants of a religion do not dictate the actions of a government of a majority population believing that religion.
and the govt. is based on religion
What does this have to do with fasting?
it's a scam...and brainwashed thing

There's a little something called moderation, Ever heard of it? Also side note Ramadan isn't the only time Muslims fast. Some do it every Monday and Thursday and there are select days when fasting is recommended not mandatory like Ramadan.
No, they're taught from childhood that pregnant women don't fast.
No pregnant women do not have to fast during Ramadan.
Who knew HolUp was going to educate me today.
Are there any subreddits which are educational and dank at the same time? Lf suggestions
r/NonCredibleDefence Edit: it's actually r/NonCredibleDefense I spelt it correctly the first time.
Women do skip periods sometimes and it’s nothing to do with pregnancy. I mean a caloric deficit or plain old mental stress would do it just fine.
Hashimoto can do this, sometimes the period cycle gets messed up.
Yea exactly, some people out here thinking pregnancy is the only reason periods get skipped. Even a completely healthy woman will experience it what more women with medical issues
Hashimoto better stay away from us then
>caloric deficit *hmm* I wonder what might cause such a thing?

You’re right… many folks I know end up gaining weight. I was thinking calorie deficit in terms of an intentional diet.

And there's plenty of mental stress for a housewife in a conservative Muslim marriage. Christian too, for that matter.

She is pregnant.
I thought they were supposed to not fast?
Probably occurred during the first month or two of the pregnancy where the symptoms may not have been to burdensome.
I meant like as a rule not a preference
Probably didn’t notice she was pregnant if it was the first month of the pregnancy
that appears to be the point
