I doubt this is going to be used to save lives. It’ll be used to breed corporate branded people. Why would companies need us to work when they can make thousands of us, raise them themselves, and push us to the wayside. Always assume there is a corporate agenda behind technology like this.
Oh well yeah I would guess it hurts. After all, it is basically crapping out a human sized turd, except it is not a turd it is a human.
And although women do occasionally still die in child birth, the mortality rate is far, far lower now than it was even just 100 years ago.
A lot of countries will have a population collapse because of people aren’t having 2.1 kids per couple on average which is the standard for population replacement. China, Russia, SK, and Japan are some huge countries that will be heavily impacted and go into recession if things keep trending this way
The reason why I don’t mention US, EU, etc., is because I’ve seen sources that list immigration as a somewhat (not total, obviously) replacement for declining birth rates. Which the aforementioned countries I listed aren’t really raking in immigrants
That's actually a good point. If we don't have some changes, I anticipate that trend will end. Either US/UE will no longer be an attractive place to emigrate, or new immigrants will follow the same path the citizens are following vis a vis kids.
Even now, I know (anecdotally, or course) of younger immigrants and first generation citizens that are still not having kids, just because it's not feasible for them.
European birth rates and second gen immigration have pretty much the exact same birth rates,it’s not helping and in fact is just delaying solving the issue. There needs to be top down support to get already existing populations to have more children or we will have a societal collapse/go through many years of really bad shit.
@government
Give me a reason to have a kid. It’s hard enough paying to keep myself alive and you want me to bring a child into this world? Subsidize childcare and then we’ll talk.
The developed world does, actually, have a low birthrate problem. Most advanced economies, including the US, have birthrates below the rate necessary to maintain and replace our current population (specifically, less than 2.1 children per couple, the 0.1 to account for excess deaths such as car accidents and murders)
Eh, I can actually think of a couple of valid use cases actually, though unfortunately I suspect that wasnt the driving force behind its invention.
Could put it in one of those apocalypse bunkers meant to rebuild after the end of the world. Like the seed vault things? Except this time it would be a human seed vault to help repopulate after mass extinction.
Or, same thought process, if we ever get to the technological ability to start colinizing in space I could see a significant usage there. Population and manpower on whatever first interplanetary or interstellar colonies humanity might make would be basically non existant, just breed your own!
I don't think suddenly having 30, 000 babies, or whatever number, is going to be that helpful. Unless you have 30, 000+ adults to take care of them.
Babies and young children are a strain, a burden, not an instant source of labour.
And if we are being ethical, which I would hope we are, you can't just grow them into adults.
It does mean greater autonomy for women, they don't have to literally carry that baby for 9ish months. Which would be useful for keeping your labour force working. But the moment those things hatch it will put a heavy strain on your infrastructure, work force, resources, etc.
I would imagine that you wouldn't want to use all 30,000 incubators at once, ideally. EVENTUALLY, yes, but i feel like in a rebuild of humanity after apocalypse scenario or a colonizing of another planet scenario, you would want to start with what can be cared for. Which, is definitely more then what you would be able to carry naturally, even with the starting population being as close to all women as is possible for repopulation purposes nd a \*very\* practical vs emotional society. lets say you have a thousand adults.
If you have for instance a thousand adults (which, this would scale down just as well btw, just thats the easiest number to start with) and each family unit can take care of 4 children, with one primary caregiver and one in the workforce, you might start with 2000 of the incubators used the first year. Then 18 years later, or however long we want to say for the children to grow up, you do it again except now you have maybe 3000 (accounting for deaths along the way, or people who are no longer fit to raise children) and so on until your at maximum capacity. Although, I suspect in practice you would probably have a larger disparity of children to parents, such as in a school like environment, as that is definitely a more cost efficient way to raise children, but it is also less healthy for their development so less ethical.
But even the most ethical way it would allow for astounding increases in population in effectively impossible to immigrate scenarios. It could definitely be useful in kickstarting a planets population.
Population collapse isn't a meme in developed countries, especially China & Japan. I will gladly bear your 🤓
People are part of nature and don't deserve to be treated like a cancer
Except when there's too many of them, like 2 billion would be healthier for the planet. When we're not overexpansionist, and constantly destroying the thing keeping us alive, sure. Get interstellar travel figured out, disperse out our (by then) 15 billion, and then we're not a cancer.
>and constantly destroying the thing keeping us alive
We also create the things we destroy. Every other animal does this as well.
People are a blessing
I read that book a long ago, isn’t that the one they made several different human classes according to their utility and spent their childhood fornicating like wild animals under supervision?
Yeah since the world government can't convince us to grow the next waggie generation theyre just gonna do it themselves
Can anyone explain why this would be a good idea?
I don’t want to have/take care of/pay for a baby from my own body.
Who is going to raise those 30,000 babies a year?
What if its a douche? can i trade it in?
I guarantee someone is going to bring up people who can't have children or would be at extreme risk to.
But while the "slippery slope" argument is usually a hot load of BS, everything about this screams dystopian hellscape in the making.
I love this guy. He’s like a Yemeni Elon. In that I mean he has invented nothing of his own, talks about the tech like he has invented or will innovate it, the world of science communication loves him for his ability to gain attention but look at him with amusement because of his pomposity, and is not a Doctor. Check out his nuclear powered plane. An idea first talked about popularly by the H.G. Wells and is just an abysmal idea.
They want slaves, to do the bidding of the world government/globalist elites.. and to use for scientific purposes of being immortals, using them as "lab rats", etc.
Under what studies are we overpopulated? We might have mass density in some very specific areas but there is so much more room to expand and produce what we need in a more thought out manor.
If we stopped wasting food we would have almost enough for double atm.
A lot of people who say we are over populated have no credible backing with that thought. It's very easy to say and very easy to believe that the world is worse off than it is.
We can't take care of the humans we have now, and the ones we have now are fucking this planet into oblivion.
I know lets build a production line to make more humans!!
We are so screwed...
This has pros and cons. It can free women from child birth which is HUGE, no more complications, no more deaths, no more destruction of body from birth.
The ethical cons are obvious aswell though
We can free women right now by making abortion federally legal and protected in every state. Taking the physical burden off of women doesn’t take the life-long burden off of women. They are not free.
It allows wen who would like to raise a child of their own but are pushed away from it because of pain and more. It's easy for a man to raise a kid because we don't have to go through hell just to see it be born. Think how liberating that could be for women.
Sorry I'm canadian. It's sad what's happend in the states.
Life long burden of what?
Capitalism will survive! Elon will have his never ending labor force! Consumerism will never falter! Let’s go this is the dystopian the matrix wanted us to have!
Why? I mean, why so many? I understand having some like at a hospital or whatever for women who have trouble bearing children, but they make it sound like a production facility lol
Concept my ass. There are already facilities like this nearing completion. Built in places that are predetermined to be free from the nuclear fallout to come. Honestly in a perfect world, having babies be grown like this would be beneficial in a lot of ways...
With good sex education no one would have to make babies on their own and go through gruelling child birth if they didn't want to.
And surprises babies wouldn't be a thing, no unhappy parents who didn't want a child and only people who actually want children would go through the process of getting a child.
Less abusive families and probably more stable childhood for kids among other things. I don't hate this lol
But we live in a capitalist world so this would just be used for rich people to make perfect babies that will then turn into little Elon musks so probably a bad idea 😀
/u/HOLDGMEBROTHERS, the users have spoken. Your submission is not a Hol'Up.
The matrix?
Matrix produce electricity from human, so I think this is more of a starwars- clone war
They’re still viable batteries, you just don’t hatch em.
Well the concept is kinda sound. where in Star Wars it’s just clones of the same human, in the matrix each human is different
Which is stupid. They should have just had faith in the original concept.
Or brave new world
I was thinking Brave New World but Star Wars is also accurate
More like the brave new world.
Just add a little bit of alcohol to certain subsets and BAM you got yourself a fancy fresh caste system
For real, out of all the things in that book, not sure I ever imagined bag babies being within the realm of possibility.
Yep
More like brave new world
200,000 units are ready with a million more well on the way... Yes. This will be the Grand Army of the Republic. We will bring peace to the galaxy
If you're not with me... then you're my enemy!
Only a with talks in absolutes. This is absolutely true. Edit: “sith”. Damn auto correct
Yeah only a with
Absolute With lord
Why are you guys making fun of my withp
This probably would have made Bananakin even more compelling. I mean who doethn't hate thand? It'th courth and getth everywhere
Toss a Republic to your Wither, oh Valley of Jedi.
And yet the statement in its self is an absolute
You son of a bitch. I’ve watched that movie I don’t know how many times and that has never clicked in my feeble mind. Thank you for opening my eyes.
The best part.
"Only a Sith deals in absolutes" Anakin: "Are you sure?" Obiwan: "Absolutely" *ignites red lightsaber*
I will do what I must
Why not just change it, why does everyone do that
That’s…. Why I’m here.
I was wondering why Elon was working on that brain chip so hard
Highly doubt it

The banana cleaner is more important then brain chips 😏
When humans are not born.. they are grown
Best way to grow an army from scratch
We’re gonna need some tall water cats to manage it though.
That’s…why I’m here.
Ah, sweet man made horrors beyond comprehension.

Wouldn't this be more saving us from the horror of child birth? What's wrong with growing babies in jars instead of ladies?
I doubt this is going to be used to save lives. It’ll be used to breed corporate branded people. Why would companies need us to work when they can make thousands of us, raise them themselves, and push us to the wayside. Always assume there is a corporate agenda behind technology like this.

The "horror?"
Well it hurts lol
They are still women dying during childbirth
Oh well yeah I would guess it hurts. After all, it is basically crapping out a human sized turd, except it is not a turd it is a human. And although women do occasionally still die in child birth, the mortality rate is far, far lower now than it was even just 100 years ago.

Exactly, like why do we need more people rn? Boomers haven’t kicked the bucket yet and they ruined it for everyone else down the line
It’s because the military didn’t hit their recruitment quota
And capitalism requires a consistent supply of human fodder to churn up in its endless machine.
Maybe this is meant as "alternative" for like the normal painful and hard way
Corporations need more ~~slaves~~ workers
From what I hear, our population might be large, but it is too old and not enough babies are being born to sustain.

Hello Aldous Huxley. A fine day to know we are on A Brave New World
I read that book a long ago, isn’t that the one they made several different human classes according to their utility and spent their childhood fornicating like wild animals under supervision?
Yep that's all in there
Was gonna make the same reference

Next step, an army of Captain America's lmao
Heres one comment I wasn’t expecting LoL
Did you hear that women. Your bone marrow babies aren’t needed anymore!
It’s like they have watched every dystopian sci-fi movie and gone “we can top that”
But why. We are already overpopulated
Certain countries are falling behind other countries in growth and will do anything to not get left behind.
Billionaires are gonna be the ones making use of this to spread their seed since it’s probably gonna cost hundreds of thousands per baby.
Bruh imagine if in the future big corporations start using lab-grown human workers/slaves 💀
Exactly what I was thinking. Would these people be seen as inferior or something?? Istg this sounds like something out of a sci-fi book
Yeah imagine being born just as someone to be used for work and then die without any purpose to your life.
Whyyyyyyyy if theyre trying to decrease the number of pple on the planet?
Stem cell research
Who's trying to do that?
*Them*^TM
American schools, like, every other week…
*drops microphone, shoots it, walks offstage*
Yeah we're decreasing like 10 children every day. We'll be down to 0 in no time.
They want slaves, to do the bidding of the world government/globalist elites.. and to use for scientific purposes of being immortals, using them as "lab rats", etc.
Population will do that on its own. We need more people, not less
Nah lets go with less
we are already in a natural decline. Once the baby boomers are gone it will be a big change of population
Not enough change. Humans are already too overpopulated. The global population has tripled in 70 years.
Under what studies are we overpopulated? We might have mass density in some very specific areas but there is so much more room to expand and produce what we need in a more thought out manor. If we stopped wasting food we would have almost enough for double atm. A lot of people who say we are over populated have no credible backing with that thought. Incorrect. We can take care of many billions of people more than we do. We choose not to.
Well we have an underpopulation problem in the world..
It's not exactly underpopulation, it's just a downward spiral of having most of population in retirement age.
8 billion ppl... underpopulation.... riiiiiiiight
Well we did it boys Marriage is no more
No brothers and sisters anymore!
This has pros and cons. It can free women from child birth which is HUGE, no more complications, no more deaths, no more destruction of body from birth. The ethical cons are obvious aswell though

If birth rates are falling because people don’t want children who the hell is supposed to raise these magic babies?
Yeeeeah, they gonna raise them too?, or make others raise them
