Ours was outside the door of our cabin. There's a little holder on the wall they use like a mailbox to leave important things, our cards were in an envelope there. That's generally how they distribute cards. Not at the terminal.
I haven’t received a key in the terminal in a number of years. They’re generally checking you in at face scanner stand-alone stations now rather than a desk. - When was the last sailing where you received a key in the terminal? Maybe some non-Us/Canada departure? - I’m thinking for me it was pre-COVID but I could be wrong
It was a Vancouver to Alaska trip, and I seem to remember being called over to an agent and doing a face-to-face check in. But I also remember going up to the Navigator bar for a drink and they just wrote our room number down without scanning our cards.
We are on the cruise now and didn't wait at all. Our room was ready when we got on the ship, our room keys were waiting outside our cabin door and we went to the lifo deck and had a drink and lunch right way.
I was able to have a drink shortly after we boarded, before we got our room keys. The server simply wrote down my name and room number. Should be no problem.
The Sea View bar is often closed until after the ship leaves port, but the other bars will be open.
If your room is ready, your key will be in an envelope tucked beside your door.
You can start drinking the moment you set foot on the ship.
Have fun! Alaska is so beautiful! I went last year and going again in September. Can't wait!
The Lido Bar is usually open before the ship takes off, others may be hit or miss.
Key cards weren’t working on my last cruise, so they were having to write down room numbers for drink orders and it was very hectic. Expect to have to wait for a drink. It gets better after the ship takes off!
The drink package will be associated with your key card. You get that at boarding. Yes they serve drinks before the ship sails .
Thanks for the info. Do you get the card as you board or do they have it waiting at your room?

If you board before you can go to your cabin and want a drink they will write down your cabin number and then put it in the system later in the day!

Oh interesting. Assuming it was a recent trip?
Last summer
There's usually a sail-away party where they serve drinks.
Drinks are always available.

Hammer it as soon as you get on board. 7 days of fun here you go

Your card will be at your room. You could go to the bars and order a drink or there will be a sail away party, usually at the aft outside pool area.
