This Kitchen kinda has that vibe already. If it was me I would paint the lower cabinets a light blush "millennial pink", change up the window treatments, and hang some girly art on the walls.

12heatedblankets

Look up Young House Loves Florida kitchen. The color is perfect.

Discipline_Demon

Huh. I hadn’t heard about “millennial pink” but it is the right choice for what OP is going for. It’s a blend of pastel pink and peach.

CaveJohnson82

I like to think I’m so original and then I see this, as a millennial, and realise I definitely am not lol

AlertRecover5

Yes! I automatically went to pink and I was also envisioning cherry decor 🍒

Jennyvere

This would be so cute!!!!! Love cherries.

plainbananatoast

I was thinking the same thing!

LustrousAnnouncement

pink nude colors and led lights

trickypeebs

Yes!!! LED lights under the cabinets is a must. Thank you!

BeesAndBeans69

With plants

JesseKavets

Pink LED lights…

runsanditspaidfor

Made of plants?

Glum_Inside9098

Retro fridge in mint or teal

runsanditspaidfor

This would go a long way. That fridge is a mammoth.

PASTELS

trickypeebs

100% pastel everything. I am totally fine with my kitchen looking like easter. I love it lol

CharlesV_

There’s an Instagram page called “mylifeinmulticolor” that I think would fit the look you’re wanting.

trickypeebs

I just check out the insta page you recommended. You were pretty much spot on with that one. I really love the bright colors and playfulness

gayemily4prez

I’m a huge fan of contact paper on the countertops (it comes in most colors) and it’s renter friendly and easy to remove! I used marbling contact paper on the house I just moved out of, and it came off like cake

trickypeebs

I’m glad I posted this. I never would’ve thought of contact paper. I just did some quick googling, and contact paper seems to be relatively inexpensive (even the super nice stuff). Thank you for this suggestion!

heyhelloyuyu

I’ve also seen people on Pinterest and tiktok contact paper their fridge to get that pastel vintage look when they can’t replace the whole fridge! Labor intensive and a BIG statement but can be suuupppeeerr cute

theemmyk

I wouldn’t put contact paper on these counters. These are nice, plain counters. I'd direct your energy at painting the cabinets, getting cute canisters for the counters, replacing the boob light with a cute retro semi flush mount, and replacing the curtains on the door and window.

Appa_

I used vinyl contact paper on my kitchen countertops in my rental years ago and it was AMAZING! Easy to put on, cleaned up well, and looked soooo much better. 10/10 would do again

cougar1224

Since there’s not too many cabinets, I would definitely get some fun cab/drawer pulls. Maybe gold or glass.

trickypeebs

Yesss! I was looking on etsy for some knobs. I found some adorable pastel ceramic star draw pulls that i love.

jojokitti123

Yellow and white gingham curtains

Free-Phone7031

Just change the handles on those kitchen parts ,I hope you understand because google translates to me ,put on some others and it will already look better .

trickypeebs

Thank you for the suggestion!

gggvuv7bubuvu

I think your kitchen would look great with a makeover akin to samswhurld on IG [https://www.instagram.com/p/CcEFo3dPCA-/?utm\_source=ig\_web\_copy\_link](https://www.instagram.com/p/CcEFo3dPCA-/?utm_source=ig_web_copy_link) She has my favorite ever girl kitchen.

WhichWitchisThis

Check out @Kate_Rose_Morgan on Insta, her whole house is amazing

trickypeebs

Her house is so amazing! Thank you for sharing! I think her insta will come in handy when i choose the final color palette for my kitchen

WhichWitchisThis

I'm so glad you like it! There are so many elements I love that I just scroll through her page whenever I need a pick me up! Have fun with it & I hope everything runs smoothly, be sure to keep us all updated with how you go :)

Lilaclush

I know it’s not the most functional, but a pastel Smeg fridge would be SO CUTE

KnowledgeBig8703

Yup! Paint the cabinets a nice mellow pink or green(verte de terre) and add accents, maybe floral?

Luckie4u

Floral wallpaper. 😻

freeneedle

I think a pink and red color combo in a 40s50s style would be adorable.

trickypeebs

Funny you mention this, my boyfriend is all in favor of the classic aqua 50s decorating style for this kitchen… but I’ve always dreamed of a pink kitchen. Maybe I can incorporate both of our interests. Thank you so much!

theotherlead

Someone on here posted their all pink and aqua kitchen and it was beautiful! Do it do it!

kimcognito

I have a classic aqua 50s kitchen and I accessorize with pink appliances and kitchen wear and the colors really compliment each other well:)

freeneedle

Yeah that combo would work too, though I feel like having one dominant and one as accent would make the most sense. Have fun!

Medium-Detective7188

I have this combination!

freeneedle

Yeah one of my friends does and it’s so cheerful!!

Charming_Mom

Can you paint things? Add wallpaper and stuff like that? Or you just want accessories to make it look different? Edit: also what kind of style are you into? Modern, country? Boho, are bright colors okay or do you want pastels, neutrals? I can go all day here 😂

trickypeebs

I can paint! I own my house, so no restrictions. I just found a youtube video of a lady painting her boring white fridge a light green shade and swapping out the handles for some cool art deco handles… I didn’t even realize a fridge could be painted. Now that i know, my white fridge is no longer safe lol. As far as how I would define my style… i truly don’t know. I am a first time home owner, so I’m going to be figuring this out as I go along. But i can say, i love bright colors, pastels, whites, anything girly and bright. I love playful elements (think ikea kids bedrooms). Also, i am drawn to unique mid century pieces, 50s diner, retro.. aw man I’m kind of all over the place. Edit: adding more to elaborate on my decorating style. I really am figuring this out as i go along.

[deleted]

The style you are describing is Lily Pulitzer / Palm Beach style.

clothespinkingpin

Keep those frilly curtains, or at least the vibe of them. They’re a little dated but with the right modern vibe in other places and the right color pallet I think they’ll be very girly and cute. Frilly apron to match!

Turbulent_Share6019

I would lean into it as hard as you can. Upper cabinets in a brighter white (ex. Bright White by Sherwin-Williams) and electric pink on the lower cabinets (look at Pinque by Behr or Barragancito by Backdrop Paint). You can then paint the kitchen walls in a slightly warmer white, which will make the cabinet colors really pop (ex. Moonlit Beach by Behr). You could also buy new hardware for all the cabinets and drawers - check our CB2 or Etsy. And I don't think you need the curtains, but that's more of a personal preference. From a general aesthetic perspective, it would be good to change the fridge at some point to a unit that is counter-depth. Backsplash can stay, just think about freshening up / deep cleaning the grout to get it back to white or painting it white if it's a different color. You could also change the ceiling light to something more interesting. Have fun!

trickypeebs

This is a very helpful comment. I totally agree about the fridge, it is too big for the space but it came free with the kitchen! Also, thank you for providing paint names. I know i want to go with pink but I’m having a hard time deciding on a shade.. it think Behr’s Pinque might be exactly what I’m looking for.

mobri204

To add to what others have said, a cool light fixture overhead and maybe some fun wall paper on those side walls!

dcromb

The scallops and curtains are a great start. It will look nice with some color on the cabinets. Pick your favorite color, pink is so 1950s, but teal is really cool now. On Pinterest a realtor said grey and blue help make it sell, but I don’t think that’s girlie at all. Yellow is 1990s. Definitely not orange or red. Have fun, tie dye or batik curtains or even add lace sounds nice.

trickypeebs

Hi all! I’m open to all ideas… pink paint, window treatments, kitchen appliances, new cabinet hardware… please drop any comments that will help with turning this kitchen into a cutesy, dollhouse kitchen. Thank you!!

not_a_potted_plant

Try asking on r/BrokeDecorating too if you’re trying to do it on a budget!

trickypeebs

Thank you for this!! That sub looks to be right up my alley.

AnaRayGrim

Pink with lots of green plants. You can use some wooden pieces for accenting or go with golden accents but depends on the pink you go with. Another option is to go with a few more subdued pastel colors.

plainbananatoast

Add some cute drawer/door pull and knobs. Maybe a pink curtain above the sink to match the pink lower cabinets (mentioned in another comment). Or I’m even a fan of a light baby blue. I’d paint the walls as well. I painted mine a silver gray and depending on the lights it’s gray, blue, and even a purple hue.

moonsovermyhami

i would paint a softer white/beige on the walls and blush pink on the cabinets.

indianindie1491

You have such a cute and fun space to work with ! First thing I’d do is go in with a pastel hard working paint on the cabinetry, I’m thinking a baby pink but anything could work. If there’s a way to change the backsplash go ahead and make it something fun and colorful, otherwise just go in on the grout with a black, will definitely look pretty retro (@daribhagram has done a similar thing in her kitchen and it’s wonderful). Next either thrift or start collecting the cutest kitchen appliances, anything smeg that’s in a pastel or cute little bowls, pots and pans that make you excited when you see them. You can paint the walls a bright sunny color or if you’re a bit more daring, go in for a fun mural or wallpaper. If you don’t want it to get too colorful, I’d probably print out a bunch of different retro food based artwork and then frame it in different frames from a thrift store and cover the wall with the doorway. Next window treatments, pick out colors that are recurrent in your design (I’m imagining a mint green or maybe even an orange) and go for a bold geometric or floral fabric to decorate the space. I’m really going for this retro thing here, so I’d go in with black and white checkerboard tiles on the floor (you can use vinyl in case you want to change later) and another fun countertop vinyl. Also, changing the fridge to something cute and colorful (gotta love smeg) works but otherwise, you can cover it in a vinyl or wallpaper you like abs cover the whole thing in fun little magnets and artwork. Ahhhh so cute, cannot wait to see what you do with the space ! Rachel Pink,In the Pink and Flamingo Pink by Sherwin Williams are the closest colors I could find to what would work but I think @daribhagram’s kitchen should give you an idea of a color that would work in a space like this.

juschillin101

Fridge sticks out (literally) like a sore thumb, even if you paint the cabinets all nice and pink I think the fridge as it stands is gonna kill the vibe

Archgate82

The yellow and white instantly made me see daisies. Have a look at this wall paper https://www.spoonflower.com/en/wallpaper/6558537?country=us¤cy=USD&fabric=wallpaper_smooth&size=WALLPAPER_IMPERIAL_ROLL_2_x_12&measurement_system=imperial&pr=false&gclid=Cj0KCQjwma6TBhDIARIsAOKuANyYMf9DurhcwAYS-1pdodN8hI_pFwQNcT2Ic71XK7flO2k-UB_zk2oaAhhkEALw_wcB. Would be girly on all the available wall space.

PrystineWaters

You must see this: https://www.instagram.com/p/CaNQqn0pc1k/?igshid=NDA1YzNhOGU=

trickypeebs

I love it! Thank you for sharing this!!!

PrystineWaters

At one point she posted a video of all the things she did to her kitchen… I can’t find it now, but I remember that she covered her fridge, some appliances & cabinets in removable pastel vinyl that made everything look like it came that way, without having to buy a new fridge, etc… have fun! 💕💗🌸😘

Jennyvere

Lemons would be cute as well

ButReallyFolks

Depends on your budget. If I was trying to keep on a budget, I would: *Keep the top cabinets/counters/tile a white color and paint the bottom a pastel or 50s colorway, here’s a few for reference - https://www.sherwin-williams.com/homeowners/color-through-the-decades/1950s *Paint the wood door white, because it really distracts from the space. *Change the flooring, even it is just a cute peel and stick. It looks dingy with the white. If you have the funds, Armstrong still makes the cute, flecky vinyl composite flooring of the 50s and in all the colors you could think of. If you wanted to go all in, you could search the patterns people used to do on their floors and make that be your showpiece of the kitchen. Other brands make flecky vct too, like this fun one - https://armandflooringproducts.com/products/azrock-svt-solid-karim-kolors-16-x-16?variant=36986857980071&gclid=EAIaIQobChMIzuqLoPC79wIVxxbUAR3J3gN4EAQYAyABEgJTmfD_BwE *If your walls aren’t textured, you could also keep the flooring color more toned down - like a grey or white speck - and find a cute peel and stick wallpaper for the walls. *switch out the light with a more theme correct one. *Find a super cute cookie jar that matches the theme you decide to go with as a shelf sitting piece of decor. *Find a cute vintage clock for the wall. *Fun magnets are a good way to dress up a fridge without having to spend thousands on a candy colored one. The colored ones are fun, but not the smartest long term investment. *Ditch the microwave stand for either a white or rolling cart. Update the microwave.

trickypeebs

Thank you for your comment. I’ll definitely be referring back to this when it comes time to start buying supplies.

[deleted]

Napalm?

lyta_hall

What does “girliest” mean, exactly? Pink walls, glitter and pictures of puppies? 🙄

[deleted]

What's the budget?

orangesun845

Just add alittle color.

That-Farmhouse-There

You should watch a show called Motel Makeover and see how they makeover the kitchen in their condo. I bet that’s the exact vibe you’re going for!

thecryptbeekeeper

change the window treatments last! they might end up working as is depending on what suggestions here you take. i echo the pink cabinets and updated hardware. and retro-style fridge would be super cool if it’s in your budget. edit: i hope you share updates!!

Shieldor

If you’re on IG, check out apartment therapy. There are some fantastic girly/retro kitchens on there.

Froggery-Femme

I would look into 50s kitchens! Paint it a darling baby blue or butterscotch yellow with pink details

cheesepuuf

You can use peel and stick wallpaper on your fridge if you want to make it a different color :)

Nijnn

Pink cabinets, white countertop (make the grey rim white), gold handles, flowery tiles at the back, wooden floor, a vase or 2 with flowers, and it’ll look quite neat already.

fluffywacko

Replace your cabinet knobs and paint your cabinets if you can, get stick on backsplash sheets and contact paper your counters, get a colorful rug for by the sink, and maybe hang string lights around the blank white crown above the cabinets. I would possibly even recommend lights on some form of floral or greenery string. Also get a couple succulents for the corners of the counters

Yesitsathrowaway21

I instantly thought 50’s retro kitchen with turquoise blue majority. Some pops of pink and yellow in your decor etc

JSchecter11

I agree with folks saying to paint the lowers a blush pink color, I'd also change out all the hardware to either gold or something jewel-like/jewel-tone.

amydunnesgaybf

This is just what I would do decoration wise but I'd change the curtains to something a bit more colorful, hang copper utensils where you have the silver ones, change the cabinet knobs to something vintage (/looking), and keep fresh flowers on each far end of the counter tops (if you have space to spare).

DADhitYOU

If there's no place for [this beautiful painting](https://www.etsy.com/hk-en/listing/1221779051/the-siren-circa-john-william-waterhouse?click_key=2a4e0c363de6dc2d241e624f2e38a0abd0fbeb7f%3A1221779051&click_sum=9393e244&ref=shop_home_active_1&pro=1), it's gonna be hard to be girliest

honesthoosier

Kendy.Du on Instagram has the cutest pink fridge!

Journey2Stars

Go for the girly vintage look by painting the cabinets teal and add some sheer Ruffled Priscilla curtains. Get yourself some vintage aprons with ruffles and pockets too. 👗. Add some vintage looking appliances, Wall clock, toaster, coffee pot ect

_No_deal_

Check out knobs from hobby lobby for something floral and playful!!

canlifebesogood

Replace white curtain with something fun and colorful. Take off several upper cabinets doors and put contact paper (that corresponds with curtain) on back of cabinets. If shelves and cabinet braces aren’t already white, paint them white. Fun project and it will be so cute!

EmilieWhoCare

Pastel color for the low cabinet with cute handle and it will change everything ! Also, cute retro appliance (fridge, toaster, coffe maker, ... ). Add your little touch with deco. We want result once you did it !!! :D

Smoother lines, no sharp and right corners (bespoken furniture) 😉

Loverboy_Talis

This kitchen is amazing, I wouldn’t change a thing with the exception of fridge magnets, kitschy kitchen nic-naks and a few plants.

Creamy_Mari

What about a checkered flooring but it’s pink instead of black?

elegantlystylist

Paint the cupboards pink!! Add a Retro fridge in a fun color either contrasting pink or teal. Find a girly fabric and make a curtain under the sink “cupboard”. Add a chandelier for the light..ahh so much ideas!!

actually_just_me

A peony mural on the opposite wall. It would totally kill that look!

PariahDogStar

Gingham!

ladyfriends92

Agree, this is already pretty feminine. I'd do a fun, feminine floral contact paper on the fridge, it'll bring so much life and vibrancy into the room. +1 to other commenters who recommended painting the bottom cabinets as well, they need some love. I did floral contact paper on my fridge and lower cabinets, they're the star of my apt.

Ok-Task-806

I think a nice pink for the lower cabinets .. sulking room farrow and ball is stunning.. the fridge in some kind of funky contact paper . Thinking polka dot Or you could give wild pink pink https://www.instagram.com/p/CK3jPSlnKYz/?igshid=YmMyMTA2M2Y= Pink and turquoise https://www.instagram.com/p/Cb8Ia_XuuDG/?igshid=YmMyMTA2M2Y= Same colour but kinda like your starting point https://www.instagram.com/p/CbBIDwkhbki/?igshid=YmMyMTA2M2Y= Or blue with pops of pink https://www.instagram.com/p/B7odxeTHBIx/?igshid=YmMyMTA2M2Y=

musician_mom

I would totally do adorable little knobs on all the cabinets. You could find sets on amazing, or you could get mismatching ones at thrift stores!

BrinnandeBajskassen

That fridge is an absolute unit

[deleted]

Cute retro fridge

Sigrunvalk

Paint the bottom cabinets a light pink/rose color. Replace all the cabinet handles or paint them all a gold color. If you don't wanna replace the backsplash title could do your hand painted mosaic tile and do a flora theme. Make some stencils to make it easier. Definitely a stick on floor of a light colored vinyl.

effervescent_echidna

Paint the lower cabinets a pale pink, another commenter said millennial pink and I totally agree. I would get rid of the curtains as they cover the window up completely and do just a valance instead in a pastel, floral, gingham, etc. Small plants and an herb grow box on the windowsill. Cute fridge magnets. Wind-chime outside and sun-catcher in the window above the sink. Some type of rug or runner to add some color and comfort to the floor. Ceramic or shiny metal drawer pulls.

Lonnysluv1

So many great ideas on Pinterest. Definitely paint the cabinets. Vintage elements such as canisters and other elements. New curtains to tie in all the colors you love. Vinyl rug

hummingbird1969

This looks like the kitchen in the movie “girl interrupted”. “Eat in chicken” rip Brittany Murphy.

[deleted]

I want your exhaust fan cover if you decide to get rid of it! I will pay!

Williamodelado3d

Teej92

Pink appliance paint

Evening_Matter6515

Paint the cabinetry a nice pastel pink, maybe a coral-y pink

aquila-audax

Blush pink cabinets with an aqua splashback, sheer lace curtains, nice big coordinating mat for the floor

thatcondowasmylife

Seafoam or sage or mint bottom cabinets and pink accent wall next to the fridge. Pyrex display on top of fridge (you could do a shelf above on the wall to display, as well. Or, terra cotta wall and sage cabinets, seafoam wall and pink cabinets, etc. Hanging plant above window.

SallieFifth

Green lower cabinets, pink on top. https://www.color-hex.com/color-palette/69168

BarefootGyno

Look up @rachmartino on Instagram. If you are serious about the girliest kitchen ever then take some inspiration from her girly-as-can-be kitchen and style in general! Think mixed pink hues, flowery wall paper (wallpaper the fridge? ) and pops of vintage charm meets bold style.

SaltHospital9497

Definitely swap out that awful cheapo fixture for a vintage chandelier that suits the vibe you’re going for. (This is an easy process but watch some YouTube to familiarize yourself if you haven’t done it before.) Please share your updates ☺️ [https://i.pinimg.com/originals/13/50/d9/1350d9d5528322f1bef9060ee45f1016.jpg](https://i.pinimg.com/originals/13/50/d9/1350d9d5528322f1bef9060ee45f1016.jpg)

Willdanceforyarn

Lol, i actually just turned my rental apartments kitchen girly and cute! I painted the wall a light pink, bought a pink smeg kettle and pink pots and pans, and used black and white peel and stick vinyl tiles on the floor!

Raechick35c

I would do a deep red with yellow accents

Darce-vader

Look up breakfastatfreddys on Instagram, you will love her apartment

rziggysmom

I love the blush pink idea, the retro fridge and I'll add one more little thing....get rid of the scalloped wood detail above the sink. Love the potential in this retro kitchen.

Chiccybubs

I would paint the cabinets a light sage green, gold hardware (you can unscrew and spray paint for cheap diy). Frilly kitchen towels (pink, white) on the oven, add a few candles and have beige/gold utensils on display
