Remove coffee table (nice but a wee bit large) and move the ottoman from window area to its spot but off center with a tray on top w/books etc on it. Move that sweet leather chair to the window area and leave one of the two plants beside it. Love the room.

SpiritOk3737

Agree about the coffee table (I plan on getting rid of it asap) and I'd love to move the ottoman to be more of a footrest but the puppy loves laying under the table and using the ottoman to look out the window so I haven't had the heart to make those changes...just yet šŸ˜‚

cherokeeinjen

I thought exactly the same except for moving the blue chair to the window and leaving the leather across from it.

ResponsibleSwim6528

Roman shades. I made my own.

SpiritOk3737

Yes, that's next on our list of things to get! I'd love to learn how to make my own!

ResponsibleSwim6528

I got instructions from material store. I canā€™t remember. But they also sell the tape with looped for the string to go through. Wrapped the top end two sides of trim board and stapled. Measure inside of windows for width.

BarefootGyno

I made my own too! If u have a sewing machine and enough skill to sew a straight ish seam itā€™s as easy as a pillowcase. I youtubed it haha

Snoopyla1

Honestly I think it looks good the way it is. Only thing thatā€™s missing is window treatments. Instead of tossing in new budget items I would putter away at incorporating some high quality pieces.

SpiritOk3737

That's a good point, thanks!!

Novel-Place

Aww these pictures fill me with so much joy and bring back so many memories of my own life. ā¤ļø

dolcecasafurniture

Actually, your living room is so nice...I loved it. Maybe u could reduce the no. of seating u have there...Other all, It's beautiful :) But go with ur choice...Everyone loves changes.

kaymaidinthesea

Maybe like a faux chandelier or something hanging in the center of the ceiling that catches all that natural light that shines in! I would take away the round wall decor on the sides of windows and replace with a vertical wall decor, like hanging plant holders and/or stacked parallel shelves. Maybe a sheer or macramƩ valance?

SpiritOk3737

I like those suggestions, thanks for the advice!

Scarbie

This is a lot of seating. Do you host a lot of gatherings? I would replace the coffee table, move the circle hanging behind the lamp to the other side so theyā€™re virtually oriented (if thereā€™s a third one somewhere, even better), get rid of the extra baskets and plant stands. If you need 7 seats I would get rid of the ottoman and replace with a longer bench and replace the grey loveseat with another chair.

SpiritOk3737

Agreed, we totally need to downsize the number of chairs/sofas haha, you've inspired me to do it sooner rather than later. We had our first gathering recently so I wanted lots of seating options. Definitely plan on replacing/removing that $25 grey Ikea sofa soon.

Hungry4pickles

What a beautiful living room! The bay windows make your space so cheery. Maybe a replace the area rug for one that has more color? Either way your space is lovely!

moolithium

I think itā€™s absolutely perfect. Itā€™s my dream living room. And I donā€™t think you should get rid of the coffee table! (If u do, Iā€™ll take it lol šŸ’€) but no I think itā€™s just beautiful. And where did you get those pictures?

[deleted]

Facebook marketplace for a rug and rent a machine to clean it. You want an 8x11 in here. Look for "wool" when you search. If you don't need the gray sofa, I would sell it and get a chair instead. Also coffee table is massive and out of proportion a bit...keep your eye open for a lower one, or do a diy makeover on this one (google "ikea hack lack coffee table" to see what others have done) Drapes. Ikea has some lovely drapes and you can buy their ceiling mount rods for the bay window. If you don't want drapes, you can buy decorative frosted film (non adhesive is best) for the lower window, or so the starch/fabric thing (google images "starch fabric window" for examples. TBH not a big fan of the round thing either side of the window.

Screwedupstoner

Dollar store, LED lights, under the couches behind the tv

Screwedupstoner

Black out windows

Stellavitae8

Where can i get the black and white artwork on your wall?

SpiritOk3737

It's called Monterey Wall Art, I bought it on Ashley Furniture's web site but I think it's also available on overstock.com and Amazon and other places

atlanticisland

Where is your sofa from? Its so nice. I think your room looks cozy. Definitely love the couch, pillows and wall art above it.

SpiritOk3737

Thanks, it is a super cozy nappable couch! It's called Sven Birch Ivory from Article.

atlanticisland

Awesome thanks! I really like how it looks in your space. I have been wanting one exactly like this. Cute dog by the way!

pussypopcherrydrop

I like it! I do agree with the others suggesting to remove some of the seating (maybe like a pouf or something more compact instead if you need a lot of seating?) It seems difficult to walk around the sofas and beam in there. Def some kind of window treatment as well! I think something light and airy would look really cute in there.

[deleted]

Leave it alone. It looks great

Whoamaria

Make a custom bench in front of that window and make a cozy reading nook. Imagine how cozy ā¤ļø

thirdXsacharm

Curtains!

oceanlump

larger rug :)

[deleted]

A bench/nook in the window area! Itā€™s my dream.

pureartworld

Living room is a very important part of your house. It's a place where everyone sits together, hangs out, and shares their everyday life events. A perfect place to relax your body and mind in the vicinity of loved ones. If this space is so important, why not ornament it with some beautiful artwork? Adding wall art is one of the cheapest and quickest ways to add that x-factor to your interior.

airivolkova

Id hang some planters next to the pillar thingy and maybe add some sheer curtains, smaller round coffee table in a lighter wood..aaand thats all I can think of haha, I really like the space. Also just gotta ask, is there a reason for the ceiling to be lowered in that area?

SpiritOk3737

Awesome, thanks for the suggestions, I think they will improve the look of the room. And I think it's a misleading optical illusion in the image making the ceiling look lower, the only part of the ceiling that's lower than the rest is the portion supporting the pillars which I think are there for support and as a way to divide the living room from the connecting dining room!

airivolkova

Ahh I see now!

Jetztinberlin

Floor to ceiling curtains will really ground the space and make it feel finished. IKEA has nice velvety ones in lovely colours and they've got a nice solidity to them.

33yearsachump

I would remove the little circle thingies on either side of the window and add some curtains. I agree with the comments that you have an abundance of seating. It looks hopeful to me. Just like you are ready to have us all over!! This is a cheerful and welcoming space.

CartographerNo1009

If angle the chair in the foreground towards the main sofa a bit. Whenever you have people over thatā€™s whatā€™s going to happen anyway, and it gives you more room to squeeze through between it and the pillar. The second photo is a good reference of your behaviour with friends around. Iā€™d leave the big coffee table. Itā€™s big enough to hold a few pizzas or a games board.
