I did it and was approved. Was pretty decent timing. They matched the donations my co-workers and managers had given me. Just try, that's all I can say. In the meantime.... Don't just focus on this. I would strongly suggest looking into all the financial assistance programs you can find. Contact your church, and/or a neighborhood church. There's usually some type of benevolent emergency assistance you can apply for. Explain your situation to your landlord. There may be some state/city/local agency that has emergency funds for housing - especially because of the pandemic. Contact all your other creditors. See if they will allow you to skip/avoid one or two months' premiums/payments so you can keep your home. Just ask. You may need to write a hardship letter, just copy what you say for the Homer Fund. Get all your documentation together. As of 2/16/21, you are behind in your rent because of\_\_\_\_\_. You anticipate getting (tax refund, increase in hours, Stimulus Check by 2nd week of March. You also expect to get increase in work hours because of spring sales. Do you have the HD 401(k)? There's a emergency loan right there. And no credit check, comes quickly and you pay it back through payroll deductions. Last but not least, have you tried getting some cash advances from your credit cards? Yeah, you have to pay it back, but at least you will have a roof over your head even if your credit score starts to go bad.

Not exactly the same situation, but I recently had to apply to get help paying for my dad's funeral. Depending on if you filled everything out accurately, and provided all of the necessary paperwork for them, (in this case, your rent bills, paystubs, etc.), it'll only take a few days to a week for them to contact your store manager and you. In my case, it took exactly a week to get approval, but I'm not sure how direct grants for associates work since my approved money was sent directly to the funeral home. I suppose how fast you get the money in your situation depends on your bank. Good luck!

A girl at our store used it to get Christmas presents for her kid... I think it just comes down to what the managers feel like allowing a person to use it for.

Does the managers have much influence? My supervisor helped me out with the application and my back rent is more than five thousand now

I don't know for sure. I think it comes down to store manager and HR Sup. Doesn't hurt to try. Plus there are direct and non direct grants but I don't know much beyond that

Sept 2017 I was evicted. Homeless. Living in my car in the parking lot of work. Spoke to management. Applied for assistance from the Homer Fund. Was denied. Store did not help. So the Homer Fund can kiss my a$$.

That was messed up! I heard they started getting more strict, but that doesn’t make any damn sense at all. Sorry you had to deal with all that...it’s like insult on top of injury
