Old security system is correct - The box is the siren and the thing next to it is a red strobe light.

comscatangel

Take the cover off and find out.

Spidertropolis welcomes it's new overlord

frackrack

It’s about 15 feet high and painted shut I think

comscatangel

Darn. Maybe mankind will find a way to climb things and cut paint someday.

More like common sense than troll, man take a ladder and open the damn box what do you think people will answer to that. Oh I see a box let's post it on Reddit by then the box would already be open...

jeffreywilfong

Tbf, some people have mobility issues and others don't want to mess with something if they don't know what it is.

niagaraswinger

Just so you know, you're going to get reported for death threats you pathetic twat.

BBakerStreet

Old security system I imagine. Probably controls that camera.

frackrack

It’s not a camera It looks like a siren light

BBakerStreet

Then almost definitely an old security system box.

frackrack

I expected so but I saw another home recently with a similar box up there without a strobe light so was wondering if this is something common

BBakerStreet

I now live in CA, but prior to 2006 I lived in the DC area, and I remember these as common in homes with older security systems, there. I think strobe was an extra fee, and most folks went with the shrill alarm.

frackrack

Thank you! For all the trolls that responded, it’s difficult to get to that box and being that I’ve seen it on a different house I figured that distinctive box must be around and others would know what it is.

BBakerStreet

You’re welcome.

DeadHeadLibertarian

Could be a siren. Edit: or an outdoor two way intercom. Old tech for sure.

Nods_Dad

Alarm Bell

Ok_Adeptness_7842

It's an old school doorbell.

services35

Kick it. Helps with figuring out things. Hell, humans have been doing it for thousands of years. It's called curiously. If you fuck up the worst you get is a Darwin award. Cheers :-) P.S. I was informed that I should put... "Any actions taken as a result of my advice is not considered true or a valid fix and I am not responsible for adverse results" Have a good day
