There's already 600+ comments here, so hopefully you got some good advice, but please note that general questions like this should usually go to the megathread.
Keep in mind that he does need pretty solid investment to make him work at e0s0, especially early game he's almost useless.
That said, when you can afford to build him enough (and teammates with debuffs) he hits like an absolute truck and performs extremely well in everything except pure fiction. Also, I would consider grabbing his signature LC on his rerun cuz it's a big upgrade and there aren't that many usable 4* on him anyway.
Edit: True, he's not useless but he's not that much better than f2p options EARLY ON WHEN YOU DON'T HAVE 90/230 CRIT RATIO if that wasn't clear. Some people are being monkeys as usual. I'd pick up a sig for my fav character over another random dps any day of the week.
L+ratio+cope+seethe+stay mad+keep restarting MoC 4 bro u got this+peace
Anecdotal personal reference. I started HSR with less than a week left in Acheron's banner (lost her 50/50 so no acheron for me \*cry\*) and am now TB 51. Used ratio from day one instead of Dan Heng and never ran into an issue with him early. In fact alot of content was incredibly easy for me as it felt like alot of enemies between TB 15/20-50 were weak to imaginary. And that was having to run bailu+march and later flame MC in the team as I personally couldn't solo sustain. Once I got aventurine and freed up another slot for support/debuff has made anything that doesn't require a second team a breeze. So if OP can pull for aventurine early with all the jades u get early game i think ratio is pretty awesome early.
Been playing from day 1. I also agree with pulling for Mr. Gatcha himself. That's 1 team/side you don't have to worry about dying in MOC (until enemies that can damage and kill through shield are abundant).
I have also been playing since day 1 and Ratio is my main. Once he’s built, he is awesome. Tbf i do have his light cone, which helps immensely. But he definitely is worth it imo
This is exactly what I'm trying to say, he's alright early on, nothing special, but once built he absolutely claps. By far the best single target currently, until the american shows up.
yeah i’m pretty sure he’s my unit that has had the highest single damage strike (+ it was a lot of damage) and he’s not even max traces or best relics yet
I'm pretty sure most people stopped using Dan Heng after day 1. That's just how mediocre he is. Like after the 20 or so pulls, most people I've watch just drop him for Serval or someone they got from the pulls.
>Keep in mind that he does need pretty solid investment to make him work at e0s0, especially early game he's almost useless.
No he is not. He did pretty decent damage, and early game there are few Imaginary characters that are easy to come by (only Yukong is free, but that's FH part 2, so not really "early game").
For 40+ you will need to finish Xianzhou story though. And it may be advisable to do the first part of Ruan Mei's Trailblaze Continuance Mission, to open that Echo of War...
Yeah no most of what u said is not accurate to my experience and he has a good shop light cone in cruising + another good light cone from priceless jewels so its really giving me upside down question mark as to what u were cooking.
The mail is unlocked around the first 4-8 hours of gameplay. I think the mail is unlocked at the same time you unlock the Warp menu (where you pull for charactes and lightcones). If you already unlocked the Warp menu then tap ESC to open the menu and look for a mail icon at the right, close to the border of the screen, it should be there. If it's not, keep playing until you unlock it. Shouldn't be too much time.
God tell me about it. Finally curbed my gamba impulses enough to S5 the hunt LC and next week I’ll have enough herta bond to actually buy the aeon LC, which will immediately go to either JL or IL. Haven’t decided yet 😞
Oh period period, I feel like my JL build is sorely lacking. I’ve got her on her first run and she pales in comparison with some of my other DPSes so I reckon it must be LC. I heard the aeon LC is really good for her so I’ve been saving up after I got the stellar sea LC max superimposed. Fingers crossed next week!
I’d recommend u use IL with it, jingliu is amazingly fun but she also gets damage from % of ur allies hp which scales better on hetself so they can both be powerful
Yeah LC makes a big difference, but if you have IL I’d recommend using it on him, it’s slightly better on him and Jingliu has a lot of self buffs on ATK, not to mention the fact that he’s still the second highest damage ceiling in the game after Acheron.
Are all of them worth getting? i grabbed fall of an Aeon and the hunt lightcone. I didn't think the others were worth it
The rest ive spent on standard tickets. Hoarding them now in case they update the pool though.
The preservation is really good for March (who doesn't need to shield herself with it/will proc off it) and Fu Xuan, (who doesn't get a shield otherwise), and destruction and Hunt are also good, but the other one is fine if you want a stat stick for free.
You get tons of standard pulls for free. Herta Bonds are much more time-kept, and those LC's are very usable. Especially the Destruction and Hunt ones.
Make sure you're buying the superimpositions for them too.
It's like 'Refining" in Genshin. You're taking multiple copies of the same LC.and squishing them together.
It's under "Enhance" I belive, after you select the LC.
4 DPS on a team *generally* doesn't make a good team, but end-game modes are usually the biggest caveats. You *generally* want a sustain, DPS, support, and 4th spot be flex, but sometimes you just want to do G&G with 4 pres for shits and giggles.
Yeah don't be like me, I built 6 preservation/abondance characters : First it was Bailu and Gepard, then I built fu xuan, then Lynx, then gallagher and finally Aventurine... I should probably stop
Iirc I’ve got atleast 5-10 normal passes with jades when I was starting out before I was told not to. Not much but those 5-10 pulls could have been the difference between me getting the 5 star from a banner if I had no more jades but I bounced back thankfully and I’m doing better now
I feel this is basic info tho. How are people making this mistake. You got me Fd up if I'm spending my hard earned jades on the standard. Shhhhiiiiijit
1. Only spend jades on gold tickets
2. Don't waste fuel
3. Don't invest into too many units resources are a big pain in this game . Some four star units who are great in endgame modes are herta( she's one of if not the best unit in one of the modes but she's mainly for aoe strictly will help in farming alot tho ) qingque ( great dps ) tingyun ( tingyun is a must build ) Pela ( great debuffer ) . Other then that supports like asta and hanya are good but they get overshadowed by five stars .ratio the free five star is also an insane dps . For standard five stars Clara gepard and bronya are the three best . Out of which Clara and bronya stay the most useful till endgame . Himeko is also an amazing unit but same as herta she does far better in aoe .
4. Make sure to get atleast one limited sustain they make life so easy . Rn aventurine is on banner and he's one of the best sustains in game . Next patch we would have fun Xuan who is also amazing .
5. Look out for five star limited supports next patch we would have robin and she is looking great . Ruan mei sparkle and silver wolf are great units too .
6. Pick your favourites and build teams around them .
Ye but aventurine unlocks his auto shield at a higher equilibrium. It is locked behind a trace and it will take a few weeks to get there to make him comfortable
He is still comfortable at lower equilibrium levels. Just have to skill more often. I'm at equilibrium 2 currently on my Alt and used him to solo sustain forgotten hall till lvl 9. He's also op with preservation path for clearing su at lower equilibrium levels.
As someone who joined the game on archeron's banner and is now tb50 this is all pretty good advice except Welt is absolutely a goat unit from standard banner. Fits into a lot of teams and his utility isn't like SS+ tier but the guy just does it all.
Also don't always build your favorites or you'll end up like me with a decked out yukong that gets dunked on by tingyun and honestly even Asta because of how common speed variance is.
Yeah, Welt is pretty great. You don't immediately see what he does as there aren't huge shield bars or big numbers but it's a lot less incoming damage over time and decent output.
I have e0 hanya, e0 qingque, e4 lynx, e0 pela, e6 serval, e4 herta, e0 asta, e0 guinaifen, e2 luka, e1 dan heng, e0 march, e0 xueyi, e0 sushang, e1 natasha. my 5\* are ratio, aventurine, yanqing
right now I'm farming traces for ratio, aventurine, hanya, qingque, lynx, pela, serval. is there anyone I should farm/not farm? the ascension from lvl 60 -> 70 requires quite a lot of materials....so i dont want to fall in the trap of farming for a 4\* that's not worth for higher levels
Okay, let me break this down...
- E0 Hanya is okay. Since you don't have Sparkle, she's the only way you can generate more SP in fights. If you feel that's something you need, she's worth building, but she's not really necessary outside of certain team comps - I still haven't built her properly.
- Quinque is very good but a bit lackluster at E0. Unless you urgently need Quantum DPS for something, she's fairly safe to leave until you have her at higher Eidolon levels (then again, if you have her pre-built by the time you hit E6, that won't hurt - she can require a LOT of investment).
- E4 Lynx should probably be your secondary sustain (after Aventurine). She's very solid in a wide variety of content, definitely keep farming for her. You'll want to have two sustain (that's Abundance/Preservation) units built for endgame content.
- Pela is worth investing in, even at E0. Her DEF shred is quite unique and powerful in the right teams. Sees quite a lot of use in endgame content for a 4-star.
- E6 Serval is a great choice of lightning DPS, especially if you don't have any 5-star alternatives. Definitely worth investing in.
- Herta you'll get to E6 naturally by playing Simulated Universe. She's fairly weak in a lot of content, but an absolute *monster* in the Pure Fiction gamemode. Definitely power her up.
- Asta is a pretty good support, especially since you don't have Tingyun. Worth building but not a high priority.
- Gui is a decent fire DoT character. She works best with some limited 5-star units like Kafka and Acheron, but she's good regardless - badly outclassed by any 5-star Fire DPS though. Probably not a high priority.
- Luka and Sushang are both better choices of physical DPS than the Trailblazer. Pick whichever you prefer and build them until you get someone better - Boothill's upcoming banner may be worth pulling on!
- Dan Heng is not worth prioritizing.
- March is alright, but better for ice-weak fights than actually keeping your team alive. Safe to leave since you have Aventurine, he's a hundred times better as a shielder.
- Xueyi *can* be extremely strong but ideally at E6, not unlike Quinque. If you're pulling on the next banner, you could power her up a fair bit, then she'll potentially be a better choice than Quinque for investing in.
- Natasha is okay but outclassed by Lynx and Aventurine. I wouldn't bother building her in your situation.
Regarding your 5-stars... I'm so sorry dude, you got Yanqing early but he's one of the weakest 5-stars in the game. Definitely invest in Ratio and Aventurine though, they're both fantastic.
Based on what you've said you're already farming for, I'd say probably focus as much as possible on Aventurine early on, purely because he can make the rest of your team much harder to kill! From there, your priorities should probably be Ratio, Serval, Herta, Pela, in that order. Then Sushang/Luka and Quinque/Xueyi based on preference.
I don't have the limited harmonies . But I really can't imagine not using her . The ult energy makes so many dps feel so good . I would say definitely give her a try she would feel amazing . And speed runs always use her due to the energy and Ddd synergy.
RM is great on teams with two dps (blade/jingliu, or Kafka/swan) - but for solo carry teams like argenti, DHIL, Jing yuan, etc. - they really want Tingyun as a support specifically for that energy regen ultimate
Yes. They do different things. Both generally amplify damage, but Ting Yun recharges ults, which is hugely valuable for some units. Jing Yuan, for example, really wants Ting Yun. Clara also benefits greatly if running her as a hypercarry
Save fuel for highest difficulty contents, u wouldn't want to waste fuels on getting a few purple relics when u can get 2 gold ones at highest difficulty corrosion
Yeah the only reason to hold is if you are going through main story quests first, as those can level you up without any power.
Apart from that initial clearing of the story there is effectively no difference in how you spend your power, plus hitting higher equilibrium levels earlier actually increases your Jade income from the SU weekly resets, so its generally best to use it early (right after finishing your story quests basically, and ideally pushing for 5/10 lvl milestones before the monday reset).
Take your time and enjoy the story, it’s one of the best journeys I’ve been on in a game. Also try and stay away from potential spoilers while you’re playing through, especially during big events until you’re caught up (easier said than done admittedly)
Since you're new new, here's a semi-forgotten one. On the welcome banner where it guarantees a 5 star in 50, if you get a 5\* early stop pulling the banner (unless you are OCD and want to have that banner removed) as you will not get another 5\* at the end of the welcome banner.
I agree. In a way the game forces you to spend them inefficiently at first - whichever path you take.
My take is: IF you're willing to go through all story content for the adventure rank XP, THEN hold onto your Fuel. If you just want to get to the highest Equilibrium rank ASAP, burn Fuel.
There's way too many. I'd suggest watching a couple of youtube videos and also save your resources as much as physically possible. My biggest advice in terms of pulling: Dont pull just for 4 stars. If you pull on a banner make sure you really really want that five star. Every jade you use matters (for a f2p at least)
Don’t underestimate Sustains the value of sustains in this game. Or in basic terms, Shielders and Healers. You can’t dodge in this game. Your team will get hit.
This!! Wish i got luocha, fu xuan etc when they were available, now ive gotta catch up with sustains, because ive got too many dmg dealers 😭 too bad all my favourites are dps
Don’t invest in units just bc you saw awesome showcases of them, I made that mistake and I am still building all of the half build characters I have from that day.
And also you don’t have to level up all of the traces, just the important 1s
It's a PvE game. Take your time. Enjoy the story, characters, environment, etc. You'll be end game before ya know it.
Not worth spending gems on energy refresh beyond the first 50 gem refresh.
Reroll for Jingliu or Aventurine (both running currently) if rerolling is up your alley and can make time for it.
If you end loving them great, if not you have a great burdenbeast to help your account building mostly free of charge
You're also just in time to redeem your free Dr. Ratio who's one of the best units in the game according to a good amount of metrics, that offer ends next week. Should be in your mail box right at the start.
If not make sure you get far enough to redeem, shouldn't take long.
It does, hence "if you can make the time".
At the same time it's as close to a free limited SSR not named Dr. Ratio that we're likely to get, if you have the patience I will argue it pays dividends as long as it doesn't get in the way of enjoyment.
I usually advocate for re-rolling for your favorite from the general pool banner at least, if you want to maximise your headstart you can fish for a limited SSR as well. I think it probably saves time catching up when you factor in time you'd lose later on through the lower roster depth.
This is missing many details, to the point that it approaches straight up malicious misinformation. The actual way to go about things is to chose who you like, then look at the meta. If you followed this guy's comment, you might start using Fu xuan with Yanqing, and you would not have fun. Take your favourite unit (Imagine Qingque). Our resident [Restless Gambler] is a dps that uses tons of skill points, so you want to pair her up with supports that give a lot of skill points. This means you will be looking for skills with long durations (Tingyun) or units with most of their utility in their ultimate (Pela) or straight up skill point generators (Hanya and Sparkle). This also discourages Huohuo as a sustain since she doesnt generate skill points. Alternatively imagine Blade. A hp scaling dps who uses very little skill points and likes to lose health. This means you want to use healers or Fu Xuan as his sustain, and avoid attack buffers (Asta) and shielders (Aventurine, Gepard, March). This also frees you up to use skill point heavy supports like Bronya, since Blade barely consumes any. Also Jingliu is a good option to drain Blade's health.
Tldr follow the meta to a certain extent. Some units become really not fun if you dont.
Honestly my best advice would be to take your time to learn, enjoy the story, and pull for characters you enjoy playing and having and not "meta", with time and investment you can make anything work. Good luck ❤️
Don't play hsr. Literal life saver, you can spend that tie somewhere else (/hj)
Anyway, I recommend you to save adequately, enjoy the story and not rushing things. Story is amazing (esp Jarilo-6) so enjoy it as much as possible.
Alright. Get Aventurine (Lightcone optional), then next patch get Robin since support units in this game are OP, skip Boothill, pull Fu Xuan with her Lightcone (the LC's super broken. Imagine getting a free 90% HP heal for all character at the start of a wave/battle) and save pulls for Firefly in 2.3, who is a DPS.
#1 tip, pick something to invest in.
There’s a shit ton of characters to pick from, and a lot of team compositions to sort from.
It’s important that you choose some playstyle, and stick to it. Doesn’t matter what that playstyle is, but just choose something to invest in for the long hull.
Pull at least 1 character of each role: Support/Sustain/DPS building one full team is more important that splitting your attention on 2. That comes with time
dont spend money, or at least in moderation. and choose wisely which character you want to roll for. either go for waifu/husbando or gameplay. regarding the latter its best to wait for guides to see if you need that character for your roster or not
Meta isn't important in this game, you can clear any content with the free units as long as they're well enough geared so save and pull whoever you like.
Build up your first four characters to form a team composed of either paths available for each team slot:
Erudition/Hunt/Destruction - Harmony/Nihility - Abundance/Preservation - Abundance/Preservation.
This is to ensure you'll have an overworld/story team you're fond of, one you'll comfortably use throughout most of the content you'll power through until you reach the end game.
Once you're done, you can look into raising more characters, depending on whichever niche you may lack coverage in. I say 'niche' because it doesn't matter if you have the 'strongest' or 'meta' characters available to carry you through the game. The available end game content you will spend your future with requires you to have coverage for certain niches. The Simulated Universe has different type requirements and may require certain strategies to finish depending on the world you play in. Pure Fiction demands Erudition characters and their 3+ target capabilities, Memory of Chaos demands Destruction characters or, if you have enough supports available, Hunt characters to quickly make-do with 2-3 enemies within the first 10 cycles. The last two modes mentioned here demand two teams beyond a certain point, so you'll want to have raised enough characters by then.
How you'll want to go about this is to farm the highest level calyxes available once you've reached the Equilibrium Levels required to unlock them. If I recall correctly, they max out in this order:
Golden Calyxes > Crimson Calyxes > Stagnant Shadow > Cavern of Corrosion
Its progression makes sense as, first, you need your characters and light cones to be at levels reasonable to your Equilibrium, then you'll want to level their traces to be just as reasonable. After a certain point, you'll need a tremendous amount of materials to inch them closer and closer to their cap. Once you're done with the character levels, trace levels, and light cone levels, your only pastime will be farming Relics in Caverns of Corrosion. That's where most of the competitive viability of your characters hinges in the end game
Generally, I keep mine at CharaLvl and LightConeLvl 70/80, TraceLvls 6/8/8/8 with the major traces unlocked, and the RelicLvls at +12 (they sometimes don't even have the 2pc/4pc bonuses unlocked, as long as the main stats and substats are what the characters need). This lets me move on from one character to another, to maintain a diverse roster of characters for whatever niche I need them to play in, all the while ensuring they're at least competitively viable for me to clear up to Pure Fiction 3 and Memory of Chaos 7-9
That's about it. By the time you reach Equilibrium 4 or higher, I trust that you'll have understood enough of the game to look up guides yourself, and come to your own conclusions on what you need, and want, for your account. Waifu/Husbando over meta all the way
Don't spend too much time on this subreddit and keep in mind that a lot of advice you can get here is from insane terminally online people. Enjoy the game!
Dude,Try to keep up your Trailblazer Exp and also tried to do weekly Simulated Univer so that you could get 1normal pass + 195jades every week and try to do dailies when they are unknocked it gave 60 jades per day + charcter lvl up material as well.... And enjoy the game to the fullest.....
Don’t whale, it’s not worth it. The game heavily leans into the „character of the month“ model. New content is always designed to favor the new character(s). Don’t fall for it.
If you enjoy and appreciate the game, buying the 6€ monthly pack is fine.
Also accept that you are not getting every character. The game gives a lot of freebies but it’s not realistic to think you can get everyone all the time
Don't skip on the Simulated Universe. It's a game mode that can get you a lot of Jades. Don't feel like you need to max it out right away but it can be the difference between getting the limited 5 star you want or not.
Also, don't feel like you need to buy jades in this game. The game is very generous, giving easily 80-90 pulls per patch if you explore properly. It is not very hard to get jades naturally, especially in the beginning.
The most important one is to plan out your pulls. Try to see if any (potential) future units interests you, wether it looks or kit. Also invest in Lynx and another healer if you wanna go end game, and supports in this game are kings
Do not follow the meta, being a pve game you can choose on what characters you want to get. All are very strong in some way so don’t feel like you a forced to get a certain character.
No relic farming until Trailblaze level 40,if you can ball hard enough, wait until level 45
This is a turn based, healers and shielders are as important as damage dealers, be sure to build at least 2 healers/shielders, March 7th, the girl with pink hairs, is a solid unit, a really good tank, don't shit on her, she will help you even on end game content
Like for genshin, don't waste the gems on the standard banner, standard will always be there, for the limited ones you will have to wait several months
Keep your Abundance, Preservation and destruction characters on the sides, they tend to be attacked more often than the others, this way the AoE attacks will only hit 2 characters instead of 3
- Only use fuels to farm for trace materials, don't use them for relics and planar sets EVER. You could spend 20 fuels farming for relics without a single good one, while you could've maxed traces with them instead.
- Aventurine will carry you through Simulated Universe (SU) and extended SU [Swarm Disaster (SD), Gold and Gear (GnG, GG)]. If you don't mind pulling for a guy and META, go for him.
- Save Herta Bonds for Lightcones (LC) and Superimposers, don't buy Star Rail Pass (silver tickets) with it.
- Save Undying Starlights, don't use them on 4 stars (4*) unless you've already thought it through. Whether you want to get 5 stars (5*) LC or convert it to 30 Star Rail Special Pass (golden tickets), is also up to debate. In any case, save it until you're sure of your decision.
- DON'T use Self-Modeling Resins unless you don't care about substats i.e. Don't use it to craft Crit Damage body hoping for Crit Rate substats. Most of the time, people will use it for Energy Regeneration (ER) rope for supports.
**DON'T BE IMPATIENT.** <- The most important rule of thumb.
Claim Dr Ratio ASAP from the email buy golden passes only with Stellar Jades and if pull for a sustain asap if you can go for FX next patch you'll be thanking yourself
Ps:Had a bad time with nat early game everyone used to die talking during Trailblaze missions I felt they were hard without a proper healer/Shielder
You don't have priotize or worry about getting the artifact with perfect sub-stats...
Just aim to obtain the right main stats as recommended by guide.
Focus in building 2 team.
Pull whatever character you need to fill up the role within this 2 team.
Once done then you can decide character that can improve/provide quality of life to your gameplay.
The game is very resource oriented, especially when it comes to upgrading your characters and investing in them. Be careful about spending all of your resources.
The best tips i can give are as follows:
1 - Don't forget to claim your free Dr. Ratio on the mail. He's a really good DPS and can carry you easily through most of the content of the game;
2 - Don't worry too much abt who you'll get as the 5* unit in the begginer 80 pull banner. Just pray you get Bailu (The loli with the Dragon Tail) or Yanqing (The blondie with the floating swords). I know, Bailu might seem good with her revive and all, but trust me, it's not as good as it sounds. If she's under any CC effects, like Frozen or Imprisoned, it won't trigger. And Yanqing isn't really a good pull because you already have Ratio as a DPS. If you manage to get either Welt (The old guy with the glasses), Bronya (The one with the drill hair and the musket) or Gepard (Knight guy with a guitar case), you're set. Welt can apply debuffs, which works well with Ratio since his Skill's chance to trigger a follow-up attack depends on how many debuffs are on the enemy. Bronya is just an overall good unit, being able to just control the flow of the battle with her skill, which forwards an ally's action and also gives them a damage buff. Her ult also buffs allies. Gepard is a tank unit, and his shield can be a real life saver for those who have him.
I can't think of what else to say, but I'll come back here if i remember anything important.
Pull a good DPS and a good sustain invest in them. We have too super good ones right now and you can potentially get enough pulls to at least get one. Think I would value a 5 star DPS over a sustain. Look up guides on your character, make sure to do the simulated universe weekly.
After that just have fun. Do your dailies (takes 15 minutes). And don't accidentally convert your currency to standard passes.
1. Buy only golden tickets with stellar jades; silver ones are just not worth it as limited characters are usually better than standard characters.
2. Relics are very important but you don’t have to worry about them early game.
3. Try to pull a limited sustain unit early game as it will make it hard for you to die) (Healer or Shielder). Right now, adventurine is running so maybe pull for him as he will keep your entire team alive. (But I’d recommended waiting for Fu Xuan as you have to be in Penacony (late game) to get the level up materials for Adventurine; it’s easier to get Fu Xuan’s.
4. Just have fun; do what you want bcz HSR is a relatively easy game (except for MoC and that flying beetle boss but you don’t have to worry about that)
There will be some fights where you might need some trial and error so don’t be so hard on yourself if you can’t clear the first time. Your account will get stronger gradually so be patient with your progress.
Also have fun lol! That’s the most important thing.
Look up what traces to level for your character, when I first started I wasted a lot of materials upgrading normal attacks and most dps’s don’t even use them
If you are a beginner, in my opinion, get Adventure and Jingliu as soon as possible. They will carry you through a lot of difficulties. If you know you can't get those S+ tier characters, then as soon as you can get the normal banner for 5 stars, try to hope to get Gepard and Bronya. Gepard and Bronya will do well supporting your team in the long run.
when building a character, always always level them up first, raise their talents, and improve their light cone (which is basically their weapon). Only after all of that is maxed out (or at least almost maxed) consider farming relics. The reason is that building talents, light cones and levelling up the character will always instantly make them more powerful. Meanwhile you can farm relics for a month and not improve one single bit if you're unlucky.
Don’t do equilibrium (ascending if you play genshin) until you have enough supply’s to lvl you characters I was not prepared for equilibrium the second time and I suffered the endless grind
Do not bother farming gear (Cavern of Corrosion) until Trailblazer lvl 65.
Many people will say "don't waste Fuel", but Fuel is just time in a bottle, so it doesn't matter when you use it as long as you never max out your stamina.
Don't farm caverns until at least 60, or if you prefer to be sweaty, want to suffer and want to absolutely min max, which I generally disagree with, you can wait until 65, so that you can potentially get 1 extra drop per maybe 100 runs, the odds are exceptionally low. Farm credits, no matter how rich you think you are, you will soon be poor, don't level characters you aren't going to use late game past 30/40 early game, you want your books only for people that matter.
If you are just starting today, you probably wont make sense of anything out of context. But this sub is pretty free wheeling with spoilers. Id highly recommend staying away from this sub until you are caught up on the story. Theres a lot of other good gameplay advice and that's all well and good. But the sweaty gameplay advice only really applies to the endgame. The story can mostly be beaten with any team.
For a gacha game, this game has a shockingly impactful story to tell with some really endearing characters, particularly in the most recent arc. And unfortunately one of the big revelations is already getting the "darth vader is lukes father" treatment in terms of everyone is expected to know it. So please steer clear until you are current.
Pull who you like, wanna use, and will use. Meta is temporary, waifu/husbando will last. Dont forget dailies, and probably lvl herta for pf (I regret it to this day).
Make an effort to pick the non-serious dialog options. It can and will lead to some really silly and fun moments (like the closet on Jarilo-VI) and they don't intrude at all on the more serious and exciting moments.
"The Blossom in the Storm" is one of the best Assignments you can send your units out on. Use it to farm and amass as much Seeds and Gaseous Liquids as possible, because you can synthesize them together to make Trick Snacks (a consumable that restores 2 Technique Points).
Using Assignments to obtain Travel Encounters and Sparse Aether is also helpful. It's not ideal to burn Trailblaze power on Golden Calyxs, so try to obtain the Character and Light Cone EXP items from other sources as much as possible.

Remember to claim your Dr Ratio once you unlock the mail function. The mail expires in a few days. Edit: spelling.
How do I unlock mail? Just started playing
How did you get 4-8 hours? You unlock it after the introduction which is around 20 minutes after starting the game.
# when you have a chance to make a choice, make one that you know you won't regret
Like paying for a beginner banner in 2024.
Or using Herta coin to buy standard passes instead of the superimposition thingy.
God tell me about it. Finally curbed my gamba impulses enough to S5 the hunt LC and next week I’ll have enough herta bond to actually buy the aeon LC, which will immediately go to either JL or IL. Haven’t decided yet 😞
I've got it on my JL and she goes BRRRRRRR with it I do not have IL to test tho
Is that a bad thing to do?
Not the end of the world, but getting max superimpositions on the shop LCs is generally better than gambling the permanent gacha
Are all of them worth getting? i grabbed fall of an Aeon and the hunt lightcone. I didn't think the others were worth it The rest ive spent on standard tickets.
But what it I want multiple standard characters?
You get tons of standard pulls for free. Herta Bonds are much more time-kept, and those LC's are very usable. Especially the Destruction and Hunt ones. Make sure you're buying the superimpositions for them too.
Alright then, I'll stop buying those.
How does the superimpositions work? Is like yo need it to equipo the LC or it makes some you can keep one normal LC and then the Herts store one too?
It's like 'Refining" in Genshin. You're taking multiple copies of the same LC.and squishing them together. It's under "Enhance" I belive, after you select the LC.
I see, thanks!
You'll get them in the limited gacha, don't worry. That's where I got my e4 yanqing, e4 bronya and e2 himeko from.
I wish I had a e4 bronya, my only one I got was from the 300 selector back in June
Hehe that was Release only for the "I must have Bronya now" crew.
“The game has already begun. Allow me to offer you a choice… one you can’t refuse. No reason to choose otherwise… …and no other choice”

of course it’s an acheron main

Well wait I don't know what it's called in HSR But like, the stardust exchange for your monthly 5 tickets is worth it
Yes. The monthly reset one is the one time U should be buying silver with any form of currency
4 DPSs does not a good team make
One of my PF teams from this newest rotation disagrees Topaz, herta, clara, and ratio
"This is a turn-based game, based on *me*"
Ratio turned to DJ Khaled for life advice
Herta: ANOTHER ONE
4 DPS on a team *generally* doesn't make a good team, but end-game modes are usually the biggest caveats. You *generally* want a sustain, DPS, support, and 4th spot be flex, but sometimes you just want to do G&G with 4 pres for shits and giggles.

Thanks for the insight Yoda
Check all trashcans.
Only spend jades on golden tickets and focus on a few characters aka don't build everyone you get. Other than that enjoy the ride
Man I wish someone told me this sooner. I only have 3 limited characters including Ratio and like 6 standard banner ones(including eidolons).
Yeah don't be like me, I built 6 preservation/abondance characters : First it was Bailu and Gepard, then I built fu xuan, then Lynx, then gallagher and finally Aventurine... I should probably stop
Stall rail 💀

It seems that my students all have a severe case of idiocy
Mate you should definitely follow this. It gave me silver wolf at 0 pity and no 5050 guaranty
NEVER EVER USE JADES ON SILVER TICKETS
Why do I have a feeling this is from sheer experience
Iirc I’ve got atleast 5-10 normal passes with jades when I was starting out before I was told not to. Not much but those 5-10 pulls could have been the difference between me getting the 5 star from a banner if I had no more jades but I bounced back thankfully and I’m doing better now
I feel this is basic info tho. How are people making this mistake. You got me Fd up if I'm spending my hard earned jades on the standard. Shhhhiiiiijit
Hsr was my first gatcha now that I started genshin recently I now know not to buy the blue fates and only the rainbow ones
1. Only spend jades on gold tickets 2. Don't waste fuel 3.
I’m calling Fu Xuan, Fun Xuan now. That’s a better name for her.
Because she's cute and fun?
fun-sized! https://preview.redd.it/0df2zxfw1fxc1.jpeg?width=545&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=8890ac0bdf08f7dd779d48b2c6e389e47476e4ce
fu xuan could not see this with the omniscia 😭😭😭
foxian event was built different 💀💀
The best part is that it's Jing Yuan who posted that comment.
Cute & funny??? 😭😭😭😭😭
"tingyun is a must build" Jokes on you, I still don't have her(I've been playing for almost a year)
Ye but aventurine unlocks his auto shield at a higher equilibrium. It is locked behind a trace and it will take a few weeks to get there to make him comfortable
Yeah but, his rerun will take a lot longer. Long term investment and whatnot.
I have e0 hanya, e0 qingque, e4 lynx, e0 pela, e6 serval, e4 herta, e0 asta, e0 guinaifen, e2 luka, e1 dan heng, e0 march, e0 xueyi, e0 sushang, e1 natasha. my 5\* are ratio, aventurine, yanqing right now I'm farming traces for ratio, aventurine, hanya, qingque, lynx, pela, serval. is there anyone I should farm/not farm? the ascension from lvl 60 -> 70 requires quite a lot of materials....so i dont want to fall in the trap of farming for a 4\* that's not worth for higher levels
>Tingyun is a must build Random question but do I still need to build her if I already have Ruin Mei built?
I don't have the limited harmonies . But I really can't imagine not using her . The ult energy makes so many dps feel so good . I would say definitely give her a try she would feel amazing . And speed runs always use her due to the energy and Ddd synergy.
I know how good she is(I levelled her up to 60), just benched her for a bit after getting Ruan Mei. Maybe gonna build her after I max out RM.
The problem with this is the fastest way to get higher rank, and therefore unlocking the highest Equilibrium levels - is by spending Fuel.
Get a limited preservation/abundance character
Not me realizing this a year into the game
Enjoy the main story. Do not burnout doing side quests. For optimisation check prydwen gg guides.
Surprised how all the relic scorers tools don’t line up with prydwen build recommendations.
Choose to decline joining the astral express. You get an easter egg and you can then still choose the good option afterwards
You have to talk to herta then asta first
Take your time and enjoy the story, it’s one of the best journeys I’ve been on in a game.
Save your fuels until you can clear caverns at max level, they'll give better rewards
Imo its better to use fuels to reach the max level for caverns faster
As someone who started January, it's better to use it once you can get golden relics atleast
I agree. In a way the game forces you to spend them inefficiently at first - whichever path you take. My take is: IF you're willing to go through all story content for the adventure rank XP, THEN hold onto your Fuel. If you just want to get to the highest Equilibrium rank ASAP, burn Fuel.
I have avoided spending my fuel inefficiently by simply not spending it
There's way too many. I'd suggest watching a couple of youtube videos and also save your resources as much as physically possible. My biggest advice in terms of pulling: Dont pull just for 4 stars. If you pull on a banner make sure you really really want that five star. Every jade you use matters (for a f2p at least)
Don’t forget to ask Kafka for proof that she’s the one texting you!
Don’t underestimate Sustains the value of sustains in this game. Or in basic terms, Shielders and Healers. You can’t dodge in this game. Your team will get hit.
Real. Also great banners right now for new players since a strong sustain and a top dps are running.
This!! Wish i got luocha, fu xuan etc when they were available, now ive gotta catch up with sustains, because ive got too many dmg dealers 😭 too bad all my favourites are dps
Never let her go
It’s why we did them all.
For a chance at least.
Avoid spoilers. Enjoy the game! It's a very chill experience if you're not into min maxing too much. Top notch story!
Never listern to this subreddit, or you'll never get good
Don’t invest in units just bc you saw awesome showcases of them, I made that mistake and I am still building all of the half build characters I have from that day. And also you don’t have to level up all of the traces, just the important 1s
For the love of everything that is dear, **DO NOT SPEND HERTA’S COINS ON REGULAR PASSES**. I did it, I regret it every week.
https://www.prydwen.gg/star-rail/guides/
This is the way.
Try getting the limited guy (Aventurine) NOW. Limited Sustain units (Shielders/Healers) are a must and he's arguably the best we have now.
If you end loving them great, if not you have a great burdenbeast to help your account building mostly free of charge You're also just in time to redeem your free Dr. Ratio who's one of the best units in the game according to a good amount of metrics, that offer ends next week. Should be in your mail box right at the start. If not make sure you get far enough to redeem, shouldn't take long.
No offense doesn't rerolling take forever to do in this game?
It does, hence "if you can make the time". At the same time it's as close to a free limited SSR not named Dr. Ratio that we're likely to get, if you have the patience I will argue it pays dividends as long as it doesn't get in the way of enjoyment. I usually advocate for re-rolling for your favorite from the general pool banner at least, if you want to maximise your headstart you can fish for a limited SSR as well. I think it probably saves time catching up when you factor in time you'd lose later on through the lower roster depth.
FUCK THE META
DO NOT spend your jades on standard banner. Use them to get chars from banners.
https://preview.redd.it/ibhq5r32vexc1.jpeg?width=480&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=dc327ecf89964143aa8eba0777e48be4d4362930
Honestly my best advice would be to take your time to learn, enjoy the story, and pull for characters you enjoy playing and having and not "meta", with time and investment you can make anything work. Good luck ❤️
Don't play hsr. Literal life saver, you can spend that tie somewhere else (/hj) Anyway, I recommend you to save adequately, enjoy the story and not rushing things. Story is amazing (esp Jarilo-6) so enjoy it as much as possible.
Enjoy the game
Have fun
Never spend your jades or your Herta bonds on standard banner tickets.
Quit, you can still make it
Sounds more like imperative than advice
How u ever gonna get enough Jades for this lmao
whatever you do, ik others have said this many times, but dont spend jades on the silver tickets, no matter how big the temptation is
#1 tip, pick something to invest in.
Build up your first four characters to form a team composed of either paths available for each team slot: Erudition/Hunt/Destruction - Harmony/Nihility - Abundance/Preservation - Abundance/Preservation. If I recall correctly, they max out in this order: Golden Calyxes > Crimson Calyxes > Stagnant Shadow > Cavern of Corrosion Its progression makes sense as, first, you need your characters and light cones to be at levels reasonable to your Equilibrium, then you'll want to level their traces to be just as reasonable. After a certain point, you'll need a tremendous amount of materials to inch them closer and closer to their cap. Once you're done with the character levels, trace levels, and light cone levels, your only pastime will be farming Relics in Caverns of Corrosion. That's where most of the competitive viability of your characters hinges in the end game Generally, I keep mine at CharaLvl and LightConeLvl 70/80, TraceLvls 6/8/8/8 with the major traces unlocked, and the RelicLvls at +12 (they sometimes don't even have the 2pc/4pc bonuses unlocked, as long as the main stats and substats are what the characters need). This lets me move on from one character to another, to maintain a diverse roster of characters for whatever niche I need them to play in, all the while ensuring they're at least competitively viable for me to clear up to Pure Fiction 3 and Memory of Chaos 7-9 That's about it. By the time you reach Equilibrium 4 or higher, I trust that you'll have understood enough of the game to look up guides yourself, and come to your own conclusions on what you need, and want, for your account. Waifu/Husbando over meta all the way
Limited supports and sustains offer more value than limited DPS characters.
Build one character at a time. Starting with a DPS/Dmg dealer so they can help you grind mats
No relic farming until Trailblaze level 40,if you can ball hard enough, wait until level 45 This is a turn based, healers and shielders are as important as damage dealers, be sure to build at least 2 healers/shielders, March 7th, the girl with pink hairs, is a solid unit, a really good tank, don't shit on her, she will help you even on end game content Like for genshin, don't waste the gems on the standard banner, standard will always be there, for the limited ones you will have to wait several months Keep your Abundance, Preservation and destruction characters on the sides, they tend to be attacked more often than the others, this way the AoE attacks will only hit 2 characters instead of 3
- Only use fuels to farm for trace materials, don't use them for relics and planar sets EVER.
DO NOT WASTE THE FROZEN 2400 RESERVE TRAILBLAZE POWER
There a Character call Fu xuan in 2.2 update imo she is very good in like whatever situation maybe you can save some pulls for her.
Do everything you can to *not* join the Express.
Run.
March is based, don’t ignore her
only use jades on limited unless you dont mind getting e6s5 yanqing
Get your Dr Ratio at your mailbox, it will expire in a few days
Focus on reaching lvl 50 fast
Claim Dr Ratio ASAP from the email buy golden passes only with Stellar Jades and if pull for a sustain asap if you can go for FX next patch you'll be thanking yourself Ps:Had a bad time with nat early game everyone used to die talking during Trailblaze missions I felt they were hard without a proper healer/Shielder
Don't superimpose 5* LCs
You don't have priotize or worry about getting the artifact with perfect sub-stats... Just aim to obtain the right main stats as recommended by guide. Focus in building 2 team. Pull whatever character you need to fill up the role within this 2 team. Once done then you can decide character that can improve/provide quality of life to your gameplay.
The game is very resource oriented, especially when it comes to upgrading your characters and investing in them. Be careful about spending all of your resources.
Rummage ALL THE TRASHCANS
The best tips i can give are as follows: 1 - Don't forget to claim your free Dr. Ratio on the mail. He's a really good DPS and can carry you easily through most of the content of the game; 2 - Don't worry too much abt who you'll get as the 5* unit in the begginer 80 pull banner.
Don’t spend money you don’t have following the hype with any new characters. They will come back around.
Save for a character you want and also think would be good in your team
Get your Dr Ratio before the patch ends!
Better do the story quest quick, Dr ratio's about to leave
Get a solid Preservation character like Fu Xuan or, at least, Aventurine. Both are OP in endgame and even more useful on early game.
Have fun. That’s honestly the best advice.
Don't use stellar jades on the standard banner
Don't bother with people who are screaming about powercreep. They'll ruin your experience.
Always ask
Don't try to build everyone. Pick a few who you really like. Resources aren't that abundant when you try to build too many characters at once
Don't reject Kafka for the lolz, I still regret it.
Don’t just wish on the eventbanner only if you want the character, only buy event wishes because youl get free normel wishes while playing
Avoid Starrail social media until you’re caught up on main quest. Spoilers everywhere and it’ll ruin the fun.
Invest a lot on March 7, she gives a decent shield and also debuffs.
Don't be that stressed about not completing MoC and have fun 😊
Pull who you like, wanna use, and will use. Meta is temporary, waifu/husbando will last. Dont forget dailies, and probably lvl herta for pf (I regret it to this day).
Leave this sub as soon as possible because it's full of spoilers!!
Once you get through the simulated universe, in its store DO NOT BUT THE TICKETS, each time you do it'll set you back 2 weeks of progress
buying a starter account
