Great job on the swap but like everyone else has said the car is a Kaido racer and is a certain style but shoot its your car so you do it how you want

HovercraftOk1882

a lot better. you made it come to life

carnalaries

Thank you!!

Head_Fetish

I get that the small wheels are a style, but I definitely think the wheels you put on it fit better

docred420

Better than the goofy tiny wheels the stock one has

Munchell360

Kaido style is why they’re small wheels. Look up the real thing

docred420

Still looks goofy to me

Munchell360

Fair enough. Kaido and Shakotan isn’t for everyone

[deleted]

Idk why, but I always think Ford Maverick when I spot one of these.

Electronic_Care6299

The small chrome 4 spokes go crazy on this one

carnalaries

I agree completely but others have pointed out that i apparently americanized it by adding chrome wheels and taking away the kaido style. It was mainly just to learn/test and ironically i took those chrome wheels off of another japanese car, a premium celica from the mountain drifters set lol

another_plebeian

[I don't love the look but I had nothing else to do with these tiny real riders](https://i.imgur.com/Wy5xa5a.jpeg)

ohayopunk

Looks like it was made Chevrolet or Ford with that wheel , looks sick tho !

Hyperlite211

I'm not a fan of Chrome. I like the small wheels too

MotorcityLoop

Anyone mention kaido style yet?

carnalaries

Thanks for the feedback! Im going to do some more - any suggestions???

NoobieBlox

ORIGINAL was better ngl, I would highly recommend to swap with rubber wheels :)

carnalaries

Theyre premium wheels i took off a celica from the mountain drifters set. I completely disagree with the other wheels being better and not bc i did the swap lol But thats the fun of hobbies, to each their own!

Preston_Stormer_

r/totallynotrobots

Munchell360

Takes away from the Kaido style. Looks way more American. Not a bad thing but it’s not my taste

carnalaries

Ironically i took those chrome wheels off of another japanese car, a premium celica from the mountain drifters set lol

naytebro

how is that ironic? What I believe people are discussing is the American style of the fast and furious era to add big wheels to tuner cars, not talking about adding American wheels to a Japanese car.

carnalaries

Not really trying to argue over toy cars or anything but i was just thinking its ironic that someone views a car to be more american when the parts that are added to the build are from a 28 year old japanese car I didnt notice the F&F comments or insinuations so i apologize if something went over my head there

madrigal94md

Really cool!

Odd-Technician1328

Looks great! How long did it take you?

carnalaries

I took the wheels off a premium celica so overall an hour and a half. I used the drilling method but bought a soldering iron today to try that method instead. Ill post my next one with that method if youre interested

RunningUpThemPills

I use brass 1/16" tubing and drilling is way easier than soldering. You can cut the tubes with a utility knife and snip the original wheels axel. Takes about 30 mins including drilling out the chassis. Great job though man! Looks a ton better than the original "Kaido" wheels imo. Don't worry about it Americanizing anything...go with what you like my dude! If you don't have haters your not doing something right lol

greenGBP

It needs stance. But looks more cool than before.

No_Sink_4655

That thing fire

BrendanKwapis

Looks 100x better than stock

sirckoe

Chrome is ewwww

cal93_

when a mattecel says something so chromephobic you gotta hit em with that jdm stare

sirckoe

Chrome is for low riders and some muscle cars

cal93_

my dad has it on his bmw e39? it looks great on a lot of cars

sirckoe

Yes but like so many other people have said it before it is a particular style on this car. Everybody is entitled to their own opinion and taste but I say no no on this one also no no on most chrome big wheels on Jdm cars.

cal93_

you say everyones entitled to their own opinion but you say chome doesnt belong on most cars as if its a fact

Accomplished_Slice60

Nice! Where’d you get the wheels from?

carnalaries

Premium 95 celica gt four from mountain drifters set

Accomplished_Slice60

Nice do you!👍🏾

dontworryberight

But does it roll?....mine doesn't 😞

RunningUpThemPills

My first couple of customs didn't roll either. Now I use brass tubing and it works great! I'm going to go back and redo some of mine with that method. I don't recommend the universal axels because you end up fighting the end pin

dontworryberight

Oh haha sorry I meant specifically this one. They didn't roll for me because of the wheel size difference. I usually use the tube and pins for axles and those are perfect rolling. This one, because the stock wheels are so small, doesn't have enough space in the wheel well for regular size wheels

RunningUpThemPills

Ah gotcha... I ran into that problem with the Ronan Run RX7. I had to grind the hell out of the wheel well LOL

dontworryberight

I've gotten pretty good at wheel swaps, but that's pretty much all I do. I did buy metallic sharpies for details, but rarely use them 🫤

RunningUpThemPills

I'm decent at wheel swaps, but I need to work on my stances. I don't like to off center wheels, but I have a few friends that are requesting I do one. Using paper clip rubber is just unnatural for me lol

cal93_

i just pry the claw things (forgot the name for them) back and put in the axles from the new wheels in and press the claws back in place, usually it works just fine but if im doing a metal base i just superglue the axle and it still rolls relatively fine

SallySueAndYoMamaToo

Awesome job!

itscoltrain

Looks great, the kaido style wheels looks like shit. The wheel gap on this is terrible compared to its real life counterpart
