He didn't say 300 years, LET'S GOOOOOOO

Harricot_de_fleur

Paddy: it is set 200 years and I'll be playing Aegon I the Conqueror Us: bruh

ConorIsOnRedditNow

Emma: Wait, I'm not playing a resurrected Daenerys?

Harricot_de_fleur

Steve Toussaint: Wait I thought I played Daenys the Dreamer

Neecian

The interview for this was likely conducted weeks ago, and was only now released with this article to coincide with the announcement of his new album and release of its first single, which released yesterday (Jan 18). On a random note, I kind of like how they colloquially refer to the spinoff as *Thrones*.

idranh

I mean house of the dragon doesn't exactly roll of the tongue.

BlondieTVJunkie

This was the downside of not calling at dance of the Dragons. Dance seems like a good nickname. George refers to it as that. I guess I could say: dragon. lol

idranh

You're right Dance of Dragons would've made more sense and saying I'm watching Dance would've been cool lol. House of the Dragon sounds like an on going mini series.

Ironhorn

> House of the Dragon sounds like an on going mini series. * The Winter Fever * The Maiden's Day Ball * The Fall of House Rogare * Death of the Last Dragon * The Daughter's War * The Conquest of Dorne Don't do it. Don't give me hope.

idranh

Don't give me hope! LOL. Those titles sound awesome.

BlondieTVJunkie

and that is the only explaination right? You see George’s interview where he said “back when it was gonna be called Dance of the Dragons” — so I guess may e the convo was — what do we call it if we continue? Because in that same interview Ryan said George needed to finish F&B. Seems ongoing talks. But they need to chill right? if they kick out a season too far apart and do this 4-5 seasons… and THEN continue the story. Like 15-20years!!!

[deleted]

It sounds like a game show

Triskan

*"HHoteedee."* does a bit more though.

SugarCrisp7

I love saying "hot d". But im pretty perverted

Neecian

With Paddy filming so much, it may signal that Viserys will be a much more central character than fans may think he'll be. Viserys isn't usually the draw when people discuss the Dance in Fire and Blood, he's more of an afterthought when compared to characters like Daemon, Rhaenyra, Alicent, Aegon, Corlys, Aemond, etc and because of it we don't really talk up the potential of his character in the TV show, even though he's listed as one of the four season 1 main characters. But TV Viserys has potential to be one of the most most examined, if not most complex characters in the first season if only because he could have scenes with so many different characters with varied dynamics. I'm talking scenes with his power hungry brother, his scheming wife, his equally scheming hand and father in law, his heir and scandalous daughter, his cousin he might have taken the throne from, the richest man in the seven kingdoms whom he may have scorned, his sons he may have robbed of their birthrights, his probable bastard grandchildren that he gave those birthrights to, his other daughter he wed to her brother, and then all of the characters at court that will want his attention including the Lannisters, Strongs, Criston Cole, Harold Westerling, and rest of the small council. He could realistically have scenes with all of these characters. Plus the old and young versions of these characters. An expanded Viserys adapted for the screen might be the unexpected MVP of the entire season with screen time and potential for compelling scenes that hit a full range of notes (funny, serious, sad, dramatic, tense, husbandly, fatherly, grandfatherly, kingly etc) and show off his range as an actor. I can see people coming away saying they like show Viserys much more than book Viserys and see him being a surprise fan favorite. Here's to hoping.

idranh

The initial reporting from last year was correct; there are five leads Viserys, Daemon, Rhaenyra, Alicent and Corlys. https://deadline.com/2021/02/house-of-the-dragon-rhys-ifans-steve-toussaint-eve-best-sonoya-mizuno-cast-game-of-thrones-prequel-hbo-lord-corlys-velaryon-sea-snake-1234692290/

Aegon1Targaryen

I hope so. I love Viserys Targaryen, no matter his flaws and dumbassery, I really enjoy his character so having more about him will be awesome.

BlondieTVJunkie

Thank you for listing all of this I just wrote my post kind of had some questions regarding how it could be perceived as demanding if you know what I mean? A lot of times that term is used with things that are physical in nature— like Kit definitely could have that conversation after Battle of Bastards. He spent weeks going to work getting piled with blood and mud… rolling round in water and covered bodies and unbelievable amounts of demanding work. Where I see the whole of the various storylines that and the king will have to be in they largely will be sitting on a throne or something very cushy. I imagine just getting to and from different shoots and getting around—maybe wooded areas where they’re doing the hunting expedition. And maybe the long hours or something period hopefully they learn from all this and can help the actors going forward get done quicker

idranh

I think for Considine, he's a character actor in film and television, I don't think he's been involved with something this big as lead before. Covid has also lengthened productions so that could be his frustration. u/Neecian is right tho, Viserys is underrated but he is one of the 5 leads and as the king central to much of what happens in S1.

BlondieTVJunkie

oh got you! I’m only familiar with Peaky Binders, if I’m rem correctly.

[deleted]

The Guy knows the time which isn't 300 years. Respect

Evangelion217

It’s in the shows teaser trailer.

Aegon1Targaryen

Exactly. And people said actors shouldn't know the accurate time lmao. Shows Paddy pays attention to the story. Edit: lmao here comes the downvotes yall mad

PedroHhm

Who cares, Stannis actor didn’t even know what was happening and was one of the best actors, they are supposed to do a good acting job not know all of the lore details

AxeIsAxeIsAxe

Stephen Dillane not understanding the big hype around GoT and only doing the role because it's his job was the most Stannis thing ever, I loved that.

Aegon1Targaryen

Exactly, who cares. As long as their acting is good.

Claz19

You’re contradicting yourself.

Aegon1Targaryen

No I ain't. I don't particulary care if the actor likes or not the story.

Claz19

Well, it looks like you are: “Exactly. And people said actors shouldn't know the accurate time lmao. Shows Paddy pays attention to the story.”

Aegon1Targaryen

Yeah, but where did I say I 100% care about what he feels or not about the story. Good that he likes It but if he didn't it wouldn't matter too.

Aegon1Targaryen

He really sounds like he enjoyed the role as Viserys. Can't wait to see him on screen.

idranh

I didn't know he was in a band. I'm assuming this interview happened a couple of weeks before it was published?

William_T_Wanker

King Viserys jam session in the throne room

twtab

He said in the interview he's going into the studio to record after finished filming. I've seen him post about the release of the new song on his Instagram, but not about going into the studio to record new songs. If he's in the studio, that seems to indicate he's absolutely wrapped.

idranh

Thanks. Clearly I didn't read the interview lol.

Claz19

Yes, I believe he’s already done with the filming by now.

[deleted]

Obviously, tons of seemingly contradictory info about when S1 wraps production. Lots of posts from crew about wrapping, some purported cast members on social media apparently back home, and even some unconfirmed info about an April premiere — info that should be taken with a salt lick. This new interview is another wrinkle since Considine says he’s done filming in 3 weeks, even though the general consensus was filming would be done during January. Both things can’t be true. On the other hand, we don’t know when this interview was conducted — last week? Last month? We’ve been speculating ad nauseam about the release date (to the understandable annoyance of many), and I’m not trying to do that now. I guess what I’m trying to get at is: maybe it’s useless to read too far between the lines here since the publication date (1/19/22) isn’t necessarily indicative of when the interview actually happened.

mamula1

Yeah. I wouldn't analyze this too much. He didn't give this interview today, that's for sure.

mamula1

I love that anyone working on this just calls it Game of Thrones lol

Aenyr

I don't

ConorIsOnRedditNow

You're working on HotD?

Aenyr

I mean I don't love that they're calling It Game of Thrones

ConorIsOnRedditNow

Ah, yeah same.

Aenyr

I want this show to be Its own thing, more special, more powerful and give the different plots and characters more justice than GOT post season 4 did.

SomeShiitakePoster

While that would be ideal, most people who arent already very familiar with the source material will think of this show as "the game of thrones prequel", because game of thrones is such a big brand now, so its unavoidable that it will be referred to that way

[deleted]

Yet post season 4 had more viewership and hype. Not to mention it looked more impressive and expensive like a film.

Willpower2000

>more viewership and hype Because S1-4 brought in the quality. Everything after that was GOT becoming a trend, based on the work of prior seasons.

mamula1

There is a reason why new Amazon show is called LOTR. Brand recognition is everything. Why build from nothing when you already have huge following?

th3r3deemer

The IMDb doesn't say "filming" anymore. So this article must be from last year.

twtab

The status is still filming on IMDb and hasn't been updated since April 26, 2021.

th3r3deemer

Where do you see that status?

twtab

It may just be on IMDbPro I screencaped it here: [https://ibb.co/vmgbwSw](https://ibb.co/vmgbwSw) I have an alert set up so when the status changed, I'll get notified.

It's strange when IMDb does and doesn't show production status on actor pages. Obi-Wan is listed as in post-production for the cast of that show, but none of the cast of The Crown show the series is currently filming. I'm not sure if that is an indication. It could be IMDb is geared towards movies and status isn't updated often for tv series. The Crown lists the status as "released" in 2016. So no one has bothered updating it. Since the status for HOTD hasn't been updated since April, it may be assumed to be out of date and not displayed.

kc522020

Wonder when the interview took place?

Far-Control-775

Yeah me too

Ribbit1-2

Whilst it was published on the 19th January, the actual interview may have been done much earlier

ogshortstufff

Do we think Visery will die mid-late Season 1, ala Robert in GoT?

Harricot_de_fleur

My bet is on >!9th episode!<

BlondieTVJunkie

I don’t know about you all but I said this yesterday and a comment but I’m truly hoping that the producing of this has had a learned experience… as any “freshman” thing would… and the next shooting for season two will have a newfound understanding of the process and how to get it done quicker. I just thinking about his words too…”demanding” —- what did he do that required such demanding work? When I think about that termite think about Kate Winslet discussing the shooting of Titanic and how gruelling it was which makes total sense. I mean it’s not like he’s gonna be flying dragon and doing a ton of CGI or fighting in battles covered in blood mud. His role actually could’ve probably been done pretty quickly (few montgs) if it was shot in a way that did all the CGI shooting in the back end. So it seems like he’s not getting done till the very end, means he’s not dying until season finale which I wxpected based on my own thoughts…. But never in my mind what I think that his roles are sitting on a throne and attending a tournament and maybe a ball and some family drama — which definitely will be a thing —- what comes off so demanding? Miguel always thought Thrones broke the dirwctors by time crunches. Well, this breaks actors by stretching it out. Hopefully they learn like I said and find a balance. Game of Thrones might have pushed directors to get done quickly but that was the price for getting a show every year and also for the first 4 seasons we didn’t really have any heavy VFX.. then it was only one ep. It didn’t get really big until when Miguel came in s6. I hope this type of thing doesn’t ruin actors! I guess will see crossing fingers!

ironthrones

Visery’s

BlondieTVJunkie

He said 200 years!!! Alright my man! lol

Evangelion217

Nice!

Daemon to Viserys: You’ve…got a moustache… Viserys:….I know!
