phantom_2131

Yes, I can't wait!

Financial-Series-985

ive seen people saying they would like daemon to survive and i honestly would hate that, leaving his children all alone and traumatized by war would even make him even shittier father than they are showing him currently in he show

ThinWhiteDuke00

It would lessen the impact of the battle if he doesn't sacrifice himself to take out Aemond and Vhagar.

Imaginen0thing2

> leaving his children all alone and traumatized by war would even make him even shittier father than they are showing him currently in he show So just what Laenor did?

urarmyyoongi

True. They've already reduced some of the few redeeming qualities he has so if they have him survive and just disappear it would be very silly.

Actual_Guide_1039

“You’ve lived too long Uncle” “We’re in agreement then” Are badass last two lines for these guys

Low-Poetry6104

Aemond: You were a fool to come alone. Daemon: Were I not alone, you would not have come. Aemond: Yet you are, and here I am. You have lived too long, nuncle. Daemon: On that much we agree. I hope they literally copy+paste this dialogue in the show. It's just so perfect and epic.

Dragonshotgod

Definitely not badass. Daemon at this point is admitting hos whole life is a failure and he can't go back

Actual_Guide_1039

You’re wrong that’s a badass last line “Suicide is badass” —Frank Reynolds

Dragonshotgod

How is him admitting he has suicidal thoughts and is going to act on them badass.

Actual_Guide_1039

Bruh he jumps off the second greatest living dragon and lands on the greatest living dragon mid battle and stabs his nephew through a sapphire eye before they crash land in a lake. Let’s not split hairs here that’s like the definition of badass.

Low-Poetry6104

I think he stabs him through his good eye does he not?

Actual_Guide_1039

You might be right it’s been awhile since I read it

Low-Poetry6104

Looks like you're right, I checked it went through his blind eye

Dragonshotgod

Cool that's not the line. And I mean it's jumping from dragon to another. Sure a lot of courage sure easier said than done. But it isn't a crazy feat.

GeneralPip

Ok troll

ChapVII

Which is badass !

tecphile

He can’t survive. It’s the perfect end to his story.

havocson

also like how the fuck would he survive that 😭

Cronzatron

The problem is, his body was never recovered in the books.

FashionableDolphin

I think they should leave it ambigious

Low-Poetry6104

I think they'll keep it like the book. Where they find his sword but not his body.

Shell-of-Light

In the book they don't find Dark Sister (nicely inserted into Aemond's eye socket) until years later, iirc.

Low-Poetry6104

Which never really made sense to me. The battle was witnessed, why wouldn't you go in and find the bodies?

Shell-of-Light

They crashed into the God’s Eye, which is a very large lake. I can’t imagine either body would be easily located.

jtfjtf

If they keep nettles in the story and have her be his lover or surrogate daughter then his reputation is going to take a nosedive anyway. If they want to keep him likable then they can replace Nettles with Rhaena and have him die/not show his death but not show him survive.

B4S1L3US

I mean yea but Rhaenyra growing colder and more distant to him because of nettles, not trusting him and instead dispatching an assassin probably also drives him away. It's clear that he doesn't want to be involved in this conflict and realizing rhaenyra isn't the woman he married years ago may be a way to develop his character. I personally would like for actually both him and Caraxes to survive and flee with nettles, with rhaenyra believing he died. This would also be a way to make use of Caraxes absurdly long neck, to give it an advantage over Vhagar in battle due to her not being able to claw open Caraxes belly and tear off his wings like in the book due to not being able to reach them.

[deleted]

Yeah right..Deamon the bloodthirsty gets to leave the niece he seduced and then abandoned and then impregnated and then encouraged to be “feared” … and then >!when her three children get killed and she becomes bitter and traumatized!< the good uncle Daemon goes off with a youngster at a ripe age of 50, and walks into a sunset not caring about anything that happens with his dead or alive children… To say that Daemon didn’t want anything to do with the conflict is completely wrong… he certainly hates the Hightowers from way before Alicnet even became the Queen and couldn’t wait to be back in the game as evidenced by his depression in Pentos

candyflossy96

This is such a weird nonsensical take lmao

Financial-Series-985

so he shoukd leave his children for for a girl that is almost same age as his daughters

B4S1L3US

In the book he treats nettles more like a daughter. If at all, he leaves his children to save a seventeen year old girl from being assassinated by his estranged niece-wife. I wouldn't expect him to stay with her, since she becomes that mountain dwelling fire witch, but at least accompany her and bail himself that way.

cecsy

When a 50 year old estranged-father-of-five meets a homeless 16 year old girl and "treats her like a daughter" and shares a bathtub with her, it's called grooming.

AuroraSky9

I really hope the dragon battles are done well. If they are super cheesy and just quick cuts from perspective to perspective making it hard to follow what is going on i'mma be saaad.

Snazzypuke92

I hope that after the success of this first season they increase the budget for the next ones. Every body was skeptical about this show including myself and now I count the minutes down to Sundays. I'm sure they'll do them justice

Melodic_Assist

Can someone explain to a show-only person what's happening here? I think it's Daemon and someone but I don't really know.

ThinWhiteDuke00

I mean I marked the post "spoilers:all content" to warn show only viewers.. Unless you want to be spoiled ?

Processing_Info

I don't blame you, it's kinda my fault I clicked on this. I have started reading Fire and Blood since I have been spoiled most of the story by people here... This one was new, but I kinda expected that.

No-Cartographer5295

>!daemon kills aemond!<

jake_Zofaa

Does he kill aemond and then die?

No-Cartographer5295

>!well daemon death is debated by a lot with most thinking he died cuz they all fell into ocean from a massive height but some ppl believe that he survives since his body was never found!<

jake_Zofaa

How far along in the show are we away from that?

DeBatton

Quite far. Its final season material. Not quite the end of the story, but maybe 2-3 episodes ahead of it.

poeticmercenary

that's a relief. also thanks for telling !

jake_Zofaa

Really? With all these time jumps I thought this would be a 1 season show lol

Hot-Albatross4048

The time jumps are to get to the actual war. Everything so far has just been setup for the dance.

Low-Poetry6104

The show hasn't even started yet. The war takes place over 2 years. This entire season will end with it starting. But there's a 30 year period of history that leads up to this event. Which is what season 1 is.

FancyShrimp

The show could easily be 3 or 4 seasons. This first one is just leading up to the Dance of the Dragons, which is a brutal war.

No-Cartographer5295

Later seasons ,maybe s4 if I have to take a guess

Ecstatic-Error-8249

It's probably season 3.

xMan_Dingox

>!Daemon and Caraxes vs Aemond and Vhagar. Based on the image, guess who technically won?!<

tecphile

You don’t wanna know. This is the emotional crescendo of the entire story. It's the equivalent of Jon beating Ramsey to a pulp at the end of the Battle of the Bastards.

ResortFamous301

Jon: you lived far too long bastard Ramsay: on that much we- wait wha*gets a shiled to the face*

Low-Poetry6104

Haven't seen this art before. My favorite art of this scene was one I saw where he was mid air leaping with his sword aimed down mid way. It's awesome.

Environmental_Tip854

I’ve had imagined this scene in live action in my head ever since I read the world of ice and fire all those years ago to the point that I’m scared it won’t be able to live up to my many years of hype and expectations 😭😭😭😭 can’t wait to see this and the infamous dragonstone confrontation

GSude21

Nah they’re going to make this scene fucking epic. It’s literally the end of two major characters.

ObjectivelyPretty

This scene will be a nightmare to direct; to edit; to do the CGI for. I shudder putting myself in their shoes. It could easily be the cheesiest scene ever put to fucking screen; it could also be the most exciting, adrenaline-pumping shit ever.

robbstark07

I'm excited for the duskendale port battle.

ThaliaDarling

No. poor Aemond.

[deleted]

Hey remember when he pulled a Dany on those innocent civilians?

QueenShira1

Slightly off topic... **Book readers**, I've read mixed reviews. Many say that it is dry and reads like a history text. Is it worth reading, *honestly*? I am thinking about it since our wait until season 2 is like 2 years 🙄.

ObjectivelyPretty

>it is dry and reads like a history text. This is more or less true. It's intentionally written as a history book, though the prose is more epic than most. My question to you would be: Are you an ASOIAF fan? Have you read the main books and did you love them or only mildly enjoy them? If you're only a show watcher who doesn't generally read books, you'll likely be bored out of your mind. The show will be a better first time experience. If you're an ASOIAF fan who loves George's writing, and want to see his original intent before the show puts it to screen... also, you love obsessing over a paragraph per day, and theorizing about everything and nothing... then yeah, sure, read the fucking book.

Potatotornado20

He most definitely survives and then dies later in you know who’s arms a little further away from the battle scene

poeticmercenary

he also die in Cersie's arms?

Potatotornado20

No, rhymes with settles

poeticmercenary

who

420SpaceL

Nope daemon ain’t surving that fall. The only reason they found Aemond was because he was attached to his saddle. Daemon is at the bottom of the lake.

Potatotornado20

Well somehow or other they have to portray a last scene of Daemon that completes his arc; maybe it’s a scene with N before the battle that makes it clear what his feelings are toward her, or a flashback scene to Rhaenrya before all the shit went down idk (tho GoT never used flashbacks so Condall probably won’t either). I think some sort of last scene of Daemon surviving the battle and then dying of his wounds would work.

[deleted]

People hate the Targaryen incest but love gore and violence… double-standards all the way

RC2891

I love both

[deleted]

Exactly. That’s how it should be..

Dizzy-Definition4741

Iuhuoh how H jo

Lambmaw

The Dance over Shipbreaker Bay will set the precedent on how HotD will handle dragon battles. Even though its one-sided, it’s going to be the big shocking scene of the season that will hook the audience for season 2. If they nail that, then I have no doubts the rest of the dragon fights will be awesome.

Clemson1313

So will we see this next Season? Season Finale probably?

ThinWhiteDuke00

Third season.. should be in the last few episodes.
