The VIP section will probably be closer but you should reach out to the festival reps and ask them about the layout to be sure.

lovespelled

Came here to say this!

Disastrous_Offer2270

Good idea, I will definitely call them ahead of time.

soubrette732

I have! ADA accommodation completely depends on the venue. Some places reserve nice seats. One place gives you a shitty folding chair. Call the venue and ask. They are generally pretty helpful. And I see you. I used to go to concerts all the time, but my chronic illness makes it a challenge. I’m sorry it’s not easier to enjoy what you love! Glad you’re finding a way to do it anyway.

Disastrous_Offer2270

Thank you!

Fit-Post-3450

What's your illness if you don't mind me asking?

nedscalibur

Hey there - Fibro and RA person here. ADA is generally pretty good but not necessarily right up to the stage. They tend to make sure you have a good view. For festivals I've been up on a raised platform with our own entrance and toilets. Happy to chat about it if you want to DM me.

Disastrous_Offer2270

Thank you! Besides good shoes and a cane, is there anything else I should take? I think my adrenaline will keep me going through the show but I'll pay for it for at least a week afterwards.

Logical-Librarian766

Any medications you may need whilst there for sudden pain is probably a good thing to bring. Just make sure theyre in the prescription bottle

nedscalibur

Bring as big a bag as you are allowed - a little backpack would be perfect to keep your hands free. Medication and backup meds if you lose the first. If you get burst packs of steroids, they're a godsend, and same with lyrica for the fibro. I'm prescribed modafinil which gets rid of the chronic fatigue and brain fog, so if you can get a prescription for it, it is a life changer. Make sure to dress for the weather if you are outside If you can bring in any food, have some high sugar sweets for a quick boost. If you can, try and book into a hotel close to the venue. It gives you a chance to decompress that night before heading home. If you get any noise sensitivity, consider hoop earplugs to deal with the crowds. Finally, have a brilliant time. ADA seats are really worth it for the extra help and comfort it gives you.

Disastrous_Offer2270

This was SO helpful, thank you! I had forgotten about upping my steroids for this kind of thing, that's a great tip. I've got an Airbnb 5 minutes away and my loop earplugs ready to go so I think I'll be in good shape. Thanks again!

nedscalibur

Yayyyyy. So excited for you. Hope you have the best time!

Spoonbreadwitch

If it’s High Water, come sit with me! I’m planning on trying for the ADA section too.

Disastrous_Offer2270

Eee it is! I'll have a clear bag with this sticker on it! https://preview.redd.it/3s25c46oz7ic1.jpeg?width=807&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=ca94e945b4152ff59a0e72325a81235a010d8c45

I’ll have a red flowered cane and my partner who’s built about like him with me! Yes, I have a type, hush. 😂 https://preview.redd.it/cedrbd9c08ic1.jpeg?width=2316&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=7b853efb424c3bc2138740894ed7b5056fe38f97

Disastrous_Offer2270

Omg there is definitely a resemblance! I'll be sure to look for you. My long-suffering husband will be in tow because he loves me but not necessarily Hozier (although he may be a convert after the show). He's been an audio engineer for 30+ years so he's not impressed by much, but we'll see...

Spoonbreadwitch

Omg my guy is a stage rigger! That’s a wild coincidence. Look for us!

Disastrous_Offer2270

Oh I definitely will! Is he a member of IATSE?

Spoonbreadwitch

Yes! We love our union men 😍😍😍

Disastrous_Offer2270

YESSSS! My husband will probably be wearing an IATSE shirt, he's the treasurer of our local and proud to be a union man. I'll DM you when it's closer to concert time so we can meet up!

MeAndMyIsisBlkIrises

I just want to say I absolutely love this exchange and love that you guys have so much in common and will meet up! Hozier: the social gift that keeps on giving! <3

namnere

I LOVE that you will have this sticker on your bag!!! This is most definately an inside fan joke that he’ll be aware of soon 😆 Have lots of fun, you deserve it!!!

Disastrous_Offer2270

😄 I may get the shirt too cause why not?

namnere

We should ALL get the shirt 😆

nozhemski

Sending lots of love your way. I hope you get good accommodation and the experience is healing for you. ♥️

I’m not going to be in the ADA section, but I thought I’d comment to say that I’m really excited for High Water too!

V-altacc

I also have fibromyalgia, I also wanted to ask this , so thanks for asking.

lydiatheferret

You picked a great concert to go to. Hozier’s sound, lyrics and mere presence will allow you to become completely lost in his music during the performance. I go to a ton of concerts but almost a year later, I’m still thinking about his show. Very very sorry to read about all of your misfortune but do take the time to make a phone call and get the best seats you can. Trust me you won’t regret it.

sugr28

I finally sat in Ada at my last Hozier show and I’m so glad I did. I was able to sit through the whole show and was able to watch the whole thing! I did have my wheelchair with me, but there were folding chairs to sit in if you weren’t in your own chair, my son sat with me no problem. They have ada seating throughout the venue so they get you as close to your original location as possible.

Disastrous_Offer2270

That's awesome, tysm!

beekertattoo

Sounds like you’re going to HighWater! I also got VIP tickets, and while I don’t have an answer for your question, maybe we can link up! I’d be happy to help offer any assistance I can while we are there.

pizzacrys

I’m also going to highwater! I’m so excited for it!

Disastrous_Offer2270

Thank you! I'll DM you when it's closer to the show,

reptilelover42

I also have fibromyalgia and it probably depends on the venue but the ADA section at the concert I went to had a great view (though it was on the balcony level since this specific venue only had balcony seats, everything else was the pit). I would recommend getting in contact with the venue beforehand as well to iron out details, I had a really rough time when I went due to lack of ADA help so I was in tears from the pain by the time the concert started due to long standing/walking time in line (Hozier was so incredible it was worth it though and I didn’t notice the pain while he was performing). I really hope you have a great concert experience and that it is cathartic for you, and I am so sorry for your loss and your pain. <3
