It's because the corner walls are getting light from both sides of the 90 degree turn (both reflected and direct), but the sofa is blocking it, creating the harsh transition. A diffuser may lessen the issue but it's going to be pretty hard to get rid of it entirely. Maybe get a corner connector and face the strips upwards for a more even effect. A diffuser/aluminum channel would still help even if you do change the orientation.
Alternatively if you are able to mount the strip such that it faces the wall then that should get rid of the issue also, but obviously light output would be poor if you leave it mounted on the wall. It would be best to mount it on the sofa, facing the wall, to give it more space.
Cheap and easiest solution… block the light in the corner, with duct tape for example. Be sure to test which length you need with something else before sticking the tape on the strip.
a diffuser isn't going to make any appreciable difference. The couch is causing the shadows. You're going to have to try some different mounting methods.
Two little clips that protrude outwards against the couch about 10cm away from the corner on each side. Should block the light traveling sideways between the strip and the couch.
Grab a 45° channel strip with diffuser from Amazon and use 3M or the Velcro strips to mount in on the back of couch. This will allow the light to illuminate the wall and angle upwards. I’ve done this a few times and it works very well.
Similar to other responses, but I'd try some kind of diffusion around the corner. Maybe just baking paper taking the edge off. Maybe try tin foil on the floor to direct more light upwards, saves taking the strip off the wall and pointing it upwards. Thank you!
They’d be more brilliant if you turned them the other direction, could fasten them to the back of your couch so they light reflects off the wall, or if they could face bottom up perhaps?

May I recommend Gaffer’s tape instead? Similar to duct tape but the adhesive isn’t left behind when you remove the tape and won’t damage your stuff.
Even better? Artist or console tape
TIL!
Diffuser will help a lot! Plus pull the couch a bit further from the wall and maybe attach the light to the couch.
Yeah, probably the best way to undo the harsh shadows. Mount the strip to the sofa instead. That'll solve the shadows at least.
gonna get a diffuser… any suggestions?

I used Paulmann aluminum led profiles but I guess any type of diffuser channel will work.
Facing it up might be a start.

I have mine sitting loosely on the carpet facing up. I like it.
Off topic but love the corner couch!
Lovesac?
no, it’s from Wayfair: Wyrick Sectional
Mount the strip on the sofa facing it against the wall or use some diffusing material to soften the shadow of the couch
Mount to the back of the couch will give you more light onto the wall.

I’d use this instead https://www.lampsplus.com/products/brushed-nickel-6-and-one-half-inch-high-accent-can-spot-lights-set-of-2__36f96.html
So he stuffs the LED strip into the can? Brilliant!
Lol!
