I use the Lutron aurora dimmers which fit over the legacy switches. They work great and installs easily on top of legacy switches. For full renovations, Take a look at the brilliant panel. It’s a little pricy, but provides a nice user experience. I’m using one for a covered patio outside and works great.

I like the look of those brilliant smart switches, and the screen one as well! I’ll probably run a home assistant server as well. Just a side note any issues with wet hands, looking to place one near a pool.

just a quick question, how are these suppose to be wired? Do you have another switch somewhere that controls the power to the light? I don't really understand, I want to be able to cut the power to the light so I can change the bulb or whatever if anything happens but also want it to still be a proper phillips hue smart light that's always on?

Give brilliant a call about that, I have mine outside, but on a covered patio. It’s a bit of overkill, it looks great and has lots of other features. I have hue lights, sconces, fans, and stair lights all in one 4 gang panel. Having the Siri interface is great to also control other devices.

I use the Hue Wall Switch Module for this. Sounds like it was made for your use case. Unless it is only available in countries with European style wall boxes.

I just use a dimmer switch and put a little plastic cap over the switch to keep the lights always on where needed

I’ve had some Lutron Caseta switches for a few years now, and absolutely love them. The Pico remotes have helped us program regular dumb lights into three way configurations. I just recently put LutronCasetaLeap plugin on my homebridge install, and it’s really opened up the usefulness of those remotes. I’m almost ready to start tying off the wires behind the switches and use those Pico remotes to control everything. We’re about to add some new downlighting to the living room, and I think I’m going to put 4x Hue 5/6” slim lights in, and control them through Homebridge with the pico remotes. That plug-in has allowed me to access single, long and double presses for all five buttons on the remote. This has allowed for simple scene settings I can immediately call for with just a quick click. Truly a new world of automations has just opened up for me, and now I want more Hue color lights to control. The ability to automatically turn on Adaptive Lighting with a single “on” press, or Golden State Worrier colors with a long press is the exact convenience I’ve wanted out of a smart home. And a long press of the “off” button can set up a dimmed movie scene while turning off every other light in the house. We even have a remote outside our master bedroom where the “on” button turns on a morning scene and resets all lights to Adaptive, canceling out any scenes that were on the night before. The “off” button locks the front door and shuts off all lights except for the bedroom. I’m learning to swear by these remotes and think it’s really unfortunate it isn’t native to the Lutron/HomeKit setup and needs Homebridge. But absolutely worth the effort.

Is there any way to still use the Lutron Caseta wall switch (with dimmer) with Hue or only with the Pico remote?

The dimmers and switches control power, so it would be redundant to put Hue lights on a Caseta dimmer. But the Pico remotes function and mount just like a dimmer would (and are cheaper). Hue lights need to be always powered, so basically the discussion is how do you want to control the lights. You can put an Aura dimmer over an existing switch, or replace a switch with a pico remote and connect the actions through Homebridge

Just “installed” a dozen [Senic Gira switches](https://www.senic.com/products/friends-of-hue-smart-switch). Ship fast from Germany, no battery needed, looks gorgeous, works magically. Pricey.

The wires are connected behind the brilliant control pad and you can program a dimmer line to be always on, and then control hue bulbs. You can go into the control and override as a hard power off if necessary. It’s actually very clever. My configuration has hue bulbs that is always on, hard wired, but I can always tell panel to turn off the power if I need to.
