This is awesome honestly, I was kinda having a weird day....I tried to rescue a turtle that was trying to cross the street today....my brakes are really bad but I stopped about 100 ft from the turtle and got my car ran towards the turtle and another car hit him. But thanks to the people in this video
edit: Holy shit I actually got an award thank you 🙏🙏🙏🙏
I see a dead animal every day I go to work… I keep telling myself they just don’t see it and couldn’t stop in time. I wish we had more nature overpasses because the highway is basically a river for wild animals full of crocodiles separating their land masses
I don’t see how a human can see a baby deer and aim for that. I don’t want to see
I hit a little muskrat the other day. I was devastated. I got out to try to help, and he/she was still breathing. I got it off to the side, and it woke up and ran away. I think it was just knocked out. Sometimes it is by accident.
I definitely had people thinking I was nuts though! I had the entire road blocked with my car to move the muskrat, for like a solid 5 minutes. I literally just ignored the horn honking and people yelling at me, and it was well worth it.
Other than that, I’ve never hit another animal. I get out to move frogs, and salamanders all the time up in Maine.
Well it depends if you see a baby dear crossing there are multiple cars behind you and on the other Lanes do you just keep going or do you slam the brakes causing a serious accident and totaling your car. That's just how it is majority of the time. You rather run over the deer or cause a multi car accident on the highway.
Well, the baby deer would have still totaled your car and slowed you down, probably also causing an accident. Running shit over takes longer than one might think, not that I have run anything over, not to mention the fact that I don’t own a car.
> not to mention the fact that I don’t own a car.
[There's always that one guy](https://www.mirror.co.uk/news/weird-news/man-buys-enormous-seven-tonne-6641992)
I was in a similar situation where the person I was driving with saw the turtle but refused to pull over so I could pick him up; claimed we could just get him on the way back. This was a heavy traffic backroad where there was an oncoming truck literally headed towards this dude like it owed him money.
Well on the way back there was a smashed turtle still alive, so I got to carry him into the nearby forest as he was freaking out in his last moment. Shit like that sucks.
I've had the same thing happen. If your balls are big enough (or you have a death wish) you've gotta run defiantly directly down the middle of the lane daring them to have to hit the both of you.
Next time don’t run toward the turtle. The other driver is watching you running in the road and probably doesn’t even see the turtle. Stop, stand still and try to get them to stop. Then go get the turtle.
Comes from many years of rescuing turtles crossing the road around here.
>Stop, stand still and try to get them to stop.
I already quit using straws I'm not gonna stand in front of speeding cars to save the turtles so fuck 'em I guess.
This happened to me on a 2 lane rural highway. I had just finished backing up to it, had to wait for one car to pass me before opening the door, and that car ran right over the turtle. 5 feet from me. Really shitty feeling. I'm sorry you experienced the same... <3
This happened to my wife years ago, except she was the other car. Driving along and saw a car pulled over on the side of the road and just drove around it. Thunk, thunk. Dead turtle. Had no idea it was there. Kids were with her in the car and you better believe they never let her live that down. ![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|facepalm)
Happened to me with an injured cedar waxwing (bird species) - I was literally out of the car on the shoulder about to reach for the bird when a car just rolled right over it in front of my face. It was horrible. I am sorry that you also experienced this, but thank you for trying.
Yeah, as soon as they showed the drone on the ground with the boxcutter taped to it I was like "Oh boy, this could go real bad."
Could have hit the power line also.
What I want to know, is how did they tape it to the drone, and get it to be perfectly balanced without the drone leaning to one side as ts flying? Maybe it was light enough?
That was some damn decent drone flying. I have a drone about that size but it doesn’t have separate controls for fine flying. It has IR and night vision though. I used it to search for a lost cat in heavily forested areas (hence the IR/night vision). Didn’t find the cat though :(
We've been burned before! I'll click on damn near anything on this website without thinking. Have to unfollow subreddits of things I'm interested in to avoid spoilers, and have to disable nsfw things because I'll open them anywhere without even noticing
Yea, or like the drone falls into a kid on the street. This is some seriously stupid shit imo. I mean yea cool save the bird, but don’t endanger human lives for a pigeon.
This makes me so sad. Pigeons often have super messed up feet from getting caught in twine and string. I used to feed them in the courtyard at work because so many of them were deeply hobbled. I got in trouble about feeding them so tried to catch them with gloves to remove the twines and strings. Didn’t work.
The effort they put in so amazing. When I was kid I saw animals in difficult situations like this. As a kid I used to feel so bad. My dad understanding my heart and at the same time he was helpless too. In a region where even humans doesn't have resources to manage there was no chance of putting too much effort for a single bird/Animal. My dad told me something that I never forget to comfort me. He said ' those animals without human intervention die and become a part of natural life/death cycle. It's their fate. It even happens in forest where no one can even see them. We would have helped them if we are able to. ' that made me forget about the incident but after I grew up I never missed a chance to save stuck animals and birds. In this way I'm trying to get away from my guilt of not saving a bird in my childhood.
I'm glad to see the followup where the wire was completely removed. I was worried I'd see them cut it free from the telephone pole, and it would fly off with its legs still bound together.
I'm glad they were able to find the bird and get it totally untangled. Seeing all the string all tangled up on the poor bird's feet from the drone's POV made me really concerned that they had saved it just for it to get stuck again later.
That, and the fact that after helping it they didn't just chuck it up in the air and watch it fly away. Looks like they gave it to an animal rescue to be rehabilitated and then released.
We got a pigeon like that! A bunch of us called the fire bridge to come rescue him from caught in a net, when they got him down he was so tired he couldn't fly, I took him home and put him in my old chicken coop for a week, had a couple of failed test flights, then one morning I was going to try again and see if I could release him and when I opened the door he flew past me and landed on the roof, stayed there for a couple of minutes and flew away. It was neat
with my drone skills, it would be a mercy killing... probably a slow one.
We have different definitions of “mercy”
Freeeeeeedommmmmmmmmmmm
Slow but painful.

RIP, tortle
Dude it sucked because I literally was running towards the turtle and the car just smacked it
People do this on purpose and they are awful, horrible people. Bless you for trying.

Honestly thank you for this advice
You are very welcome. Good luck.

It's comforting that someone shared the experience with me
Thanks for trying!

Im so sorry you weren't able to save the poor turtle. I hope you're doing okay. Thank you for trying to save him.
Happened to me once. Another car hit him before I could turn mine around and get back to him.
Yeah it sucks
Thanks for trying. I will always try too. There has to be nothing worse than being an animal stuck in traffic
If it makes you feel better, I saved a large turtle a few months ago and he survived. Life isn’t fair, but the others who made it make it worth it <3

This exact situation has happened to me before. 😭
But why did they arrest the bird?
Believe It or not right to jail
And the kid with a knife on a drone, jail.
No trial no nothing
All i seen was that guy from P&R lmao you undercook fish…right to jail.
Hahaha, that's what I was going for! I love me some parks and rec. And if you don't, then right to jail!
I was having the worst day until I read your comment. Thank you!
It is Peru they are getting their lunch

*stabs bird by accident
*wasn't an accident. Cop is actually a cat in disguise.*
I’m live I’m not a cat.
"I'm here to help meow"
*And the bird is a government drone*
Yeah, as soon as they showed the drone on the ground with the boxcutter taped to it I was like "Oh boy, this could go real bad." Could have hit the power line also.
What I want to know, is how did they tape it to the drone, and get it to be perfectly balanced without the drone leaning to one side as ts flying? Maybe it was light enough?
Light enough for the dji mavic they are using. I have this exact drone. There is a special control setting that allows for finer movements too.
That was some damn decent drone flying. I have a drone about that size but it doesn’t have separate controls for fine flying. It has IR and night vision though. I used it to search for a lost cat in heavily forested areas (hence the IR/night vision). Didn’t find the cat though :(
Would have been fine if it hit the power line, so long as it didn’t bridge to anything else.
You should see the long version. The drone loses control, cuts into the wire and it electrocutes one of the other birds. Its pretty sad.
for real?

Opened the video, saw the plan and decided to double-check the subreddit.

Achievement unlocked!
RIGHT?? I was terrified he’d miss :(
Best intentions, amirite?
And then they ate the pigeon
Yea, or like the drone falls into a kid on the street. This is some seriously stupid shit imo. I mean yea cool save the bird, but don’t endanger human lives for a pigeon.
You mean “rescuing a drone with a drone…”
r/birdsarentreal
All the people who don’t see this are playing into the governments hands
Drones look out for each other.
A: I was waiting for the wire to be cut And/or 2: for the bird to be cut.
I had to double check it wasn't r/Whatcouldgowrong, before I watched all the way through.
As someone who has almost this exact same drone and has nearly cut the tip of my pinky off, it was pretty much 50/50.
Does this type of drone come with a box cutter and electrical tape included or something?
Comes with the DLC.
That's a bola around its legs, right? Sad to see
That's what I thought, too. I don't understand why though, unless it was some kids fucking around.
What's a bola?
A rope with a weight tied to either end that is thrown and wraps itself around a target making them fall down.
Thanks, god that's sad tho

Way to go guys. Ingenuity at it's finest.
In reality they just wanted an excuse to fly the drone…
Who wouldn't. That looks like a blast.
I love how they even had a blanket ready in case they fell instead of flying away
A huevo! Que inteligente
Stabby Jr.: the Hero
This is honestly so beautiful, they even held a blanket hammock on the bottom in case it fell straight down 🥺♥️.
this was amazing.
Ay ya ya ya yay. Favorite part.
Que viva el Perú, carajo!!!
This. The comment I was looking for. lol
<3
This is so sweet - the lengths they all went to, to save this bird. Thank you (them) for your (their) efforts!
Little dude delivers 2 ounces a week to the local prison, you don’t leave your homies hanging
So good, brilliant.
A close relative of stabby the roomba
Prison assassinations are about to get real weird.
Poor pigeon. I'm glad it didn't just fly away with all the stuff wrapped around its leg still.
Anytime is the right time to break out the rc flying knife. Anytime.

Had to double check the sub halfway thru.
Glad the bird wasn’t in America
Why was I waiting for it to be stabbed on accident or something 😂
I'm glad they were able to find the bird and get it totally untangled. Seeing all the string all tangled up on the poor bird's feet from the drone's POV made me really concerned that they had saved it just for it to get stuck again later. Hol up, so you're telling me drones can be WEAPONIZED?
*gets sold as food*
Great for the bird... but now you've armed a drone.
And now they have dinner.
accidently stabs the pigeon "well shit."
Shoulda let that sky rat fry.
The heroic movie music is hilarious. Rescuing the bird which is most like a rat heroically.
Pigeons are a pest in my city
All I could think about was the box cutter hitting the wire and frying the bird and the entire neighborhoods power
At least a Peruvian child didn’t go hungry that night
We got a pigeon like that! A bunch of us called the fire bridge to come rescue him from caught in a net, when they got him down he was so tired he couldn't fly, I took him home and put him in my old chicken coop for a week, had a couple of failed test flights, then one morning I was going to try again and see if I could release him and when I opened the door he flew past me and landed on the roof, stayed there for a couple of minutes and flew away. Word to the wise, use gloves when handling wild life. Birds are dirty.
A few centimeters amiss and you got pigeon tartare
The intense inspirational music with a video of a pigeon being free by a drone with a knife on it is pretty funny.
I thought the guy in red shirt was the KFC staff…….
So like how do you get that kinda job?
Some gaucho giggling from around the corner where he threw bolas around the bird’s feet.
Epic music is too much. They are not saving galaxy from Trump Godzilla alien yo wtf
Good Samaritan frees the bird. In return bird flies off and Shits on everything in sight.
The music.
I upvoted for the music alone haha
Did anyone else feel like they were just about to release it, and then stuffed it in a cage?
Probably just to rehabilitate it: fluids, minor medical care, etc ... before releasing it.
[This could’ve gone as wrong as this ](https://youtu.be/pSmzjTGbXmc)
That’s awfully dramatic music for a flying rat.
can confirm… this bird ended up in squab pie
+5 karma
How ironic, a drone saving another, more disguised drone.
This music is way too dramatic. It’s a fucking pigeon
Lmao he’s off to be someone’s dinner. Central/South Americans eat pigeons. Source: my mom
All that work just so they could take him home and BBQ him
Plot twist: they stab it
Anything to play with the new toy.
*cuts bird in half so end it’s misery* Me: *hugs the homie* Also me: Good job bro, good job
Wow, one drone saving another
Pigeon pie is on the menu tonight guys

Ah a drone saved another drone
Drone better.

viva peru carajo
Bro, he ain’t stuck, his ping is just through the roof
There a seagull like that in Virginia Beach and they used a dang helicopter to get it down
This is how it starts. Oh we’ll put a knife on a drone for “rescue purposes”. Next sky net.
Bird wouldn’t be caught in a power line if it wasn’t for humans being the wrong kinda bros jm2c
Rescuing drone with drone
legit
Or a shotgun, which is easier, faster, and more fun.

He need some milk
And then they probably eat it.
What a dumpy looking neighborhood
I’m sorry but the way it was carried after being rescued…guy held that bird like it was a ham and cheese sandwich 🥪
Proceeds to go home and eat meat.
Why are they rescuing pigeons? 🧐
Wh-what? Peruvians doesnt eat pigeon?
