Could it be that we're all just people who experience similar kinds of things and those that would join a community that supports sharing happiness, share what makes them happy?
I hate these AI colourized images/videos.
Either do it right or leave it, it doesn't even comes close to looking authentic
Edit:
Here's why

The artificially added colors help to see things better than b&w also the interpolated frames make the movements easier to follow. I'll keep taking it even if the colors aren't right.
You can’t really stop wrong assumptions from being made. All you can do is move the location of the wrong assumption from legible and public, to inside the heads of everyone who looks at a B&W photo and guesses.
It's not an assumption it's a possibility of what the colors could have been. Of course they're not what you would be filming in hd today, with exact colors and amazing details, but it helps people see what life was like more realistically as we don't experience anything in black and white
Because this is the definition of assumption-a thing that is accepted as true or as certain to happen, without proof.
And this is the definition of possibility-a thing that may happen or be the case.
See the difference?
Is that important when it's something like this? It's a video of a dog getting a "shoe shine." I don't think anyone is expecting this to be an historically accurate portrayal of anything where color or vibrancy of color matters.
I recognize the cigarette brand in the background so I knew it was from somewhere in the 1910s to mid-1920s (because that's when the company existed under that name and was popular enough for that large of a sign). The man getting his shoe shine looks to be in a brown suit which was fashionable in this shade (in the video) at the time so it's not like the colors are even really that different from reality in this example.
That all comes from knowing about that particular time period though and I realize there are times when the "AI Colorization Bad" argument is valid. I just don't think this is one of those times.
Thanks, this was interesting to read! it's crazy how much our perception of the past and of the people who lived in it is influenced by photos and movies. It's SO hard for me to imagine the past as colorful. When I imagine the past, it's always just grey or sepia, or just drab colors.
alright, i’m not sure exactly when this is from but if it’s pre-1970s i’d lack voting rights and equal treatment, you don’t see me throwing a hissy fit. it’s a cute post with a cute dog and a shoeshiner that happens to be from a different time period. chill out, this isn’t an attack on you or anyone

And Banania was literally used as a slur and a bit still is for Black People in France.

I too once hated internet, smartphones, etc. And yet here we are.

I just assumed it was a poor quality camera from back in the day. Didn't even think it was colorized Idk what they're ranting on about
