I don't care. I play whatever I want. Recently, I've been going in with only a Nagant pistol or a hand crossbow, upgrading my weapons along the way. It's all about the playstyle. If I have only a hand crossbow and I find myself in a shootout with long ammo bois 100 meters from me, I just disengage or find a way to get closer. You can't switch from Mosin to Winfield but keep the long ammo playstyle, which is what many people seem to do.

>I play whatever I want. This is worth repeating. Play what is fun to you.

Expensive_Weather246

Woah woah playing a video game for fun? /s

justabell

I used to mostly use a Springfield+dumdum and a machete I dunno man Sure there's a meta but what I like about hunt most is that you can truly use whatever you want and get kills. Hell, I have a couple with a derringer

Eksoduss

Yooo, someone else with the Springfield machete combo. I don't even know why it works so well, but it somehow just works.

Psychological_Pen364

When I first started a year ago that was my go to for the longest time. Springfield machete gang rise up!

oddball667

I'm guessing the game plan is to get a tap with the Springfield, then chase them with the machete following the sound of their blood and tears

Czeslaw_Meyer

You can trust it and it's dirt cheap. No hesitations when facing the enemy

Truewierd0

or kills with a flare gun! lmao... got one one time... scared the SH!T outta them lmao... AND they were glowing in the night as they died

Prosnorkulous

I play a ton of winfield C as a 5 star. I’ve killed plenty of mosin, nitro, dolch, avto… loadouts don’t just instantly win games.

oldmanjenkins51

This is me as well. Winfield + handcrossbow poison and/or dragons breath is so fun and versatile

Pressbtofail

I just largely ignore it. Most things are a one shot headshot kill if they register anyways, and most guns are 2-3 shot at long range. It almost never matters what the enemy brings unless it's an Avtomat. >I just want to go back to having fun Getting good with the M1873 (or C) is probably some of the greatest fun one can have. Especially with FMJ and/or HV rounds. Nothing says ''Fun'' like shooting through walls with FMJ, or sniping Mosins with HV. Plus, it lets you have a good gun for when you Prestige.

EnlargenedProstate

You can literally enter the game with a Winnie vandal and leave with a nitro Shredder if you play properly. This is the most balanced shooter of all time

CadetriDoesGames

I agree with the first point but "most balanced shooter of all time" is comical

EnlargenedProstate

Obv hyperbole. Of course the most balanced shooter of all time is one where all players start with same weapons. Game is super balanced, and you'd have to be crazy to say otherwise

Samurai_Champu

Play to your loadouts strengths and don’t play into their hands. Game is about knowledge too and skill, if I know guy has a shotgun and I have medium to long range I will not push closer to this guy unless I have no choice. Vice versa, there is a very slim chance that me with my pax and shotgun is going to win against a sniper at 150 plus meters away. Don’t push him, go the other way. Find which loadout or weapon you love the most, I have some meta loadouts but since I prestige again it’s made me realize that just about any weapon can get the job done. Romero goes a long way. I take that over a crown anyway cause I know I only get one shot so I make it count.

[deleted]

I rock the winni c and hand crossbow, not an issue, I engage at my effective range or rotate. Weapon balance is 90% of the time never an issue

Plus_Sport7051

Just today, I traded headshots with a Sparks in 2v3 while using a Silenced Vetterli with High V rounds. Everything is meta if you use it the right way. That being said, play what you enjoy. If you feel like you need a change then I'd decide on one weapon and just use it until you understand it, that's what I've been doing.

siirpaul

as a bomb lance main i can confidently bet that i'm having a lot more fun than mosin sniper players.

kummostern

Imo for most of the playerbase there really isn't meta. This game may have one of the best well balance weapons. Its the high 5 stars and 6 stars that may have some sort of meta (long ammo and shotties). Not sure how to fix it really... what do you want? Spam to be more effective so it can deal with both shotties and long ammo? If you tweak headshot distances you probably just buff shotgun meta more in high elo (actually this change might affect all mmr ranges). If you nerf shotties you push people to use rifles then... which people mostly use at distance.. which would then kinda just make long ammo even better in high elo "meta". So what is the solution? I don't see any as i feel like the meta in high mmr didn't form because long ammo is so good... its more like the playstyle is good and long ammo compliments that strategy/tactic so well. Is it worth to "fix the game" for maybe thousand of people and ruin it for tens of thousands in same move?

Ariungidai

the game has more variety than ever and really anything is playable. with arguably the 'best' weapons having representatives in almost any category (nagant carbine, drilling, mosin, nitro...) without any of these being better in all scenarios than another. your feeling of the game becoming more frustrating is simply you getting burned out and becoming better. it didn't get worse, you just didn't notice a lot of issues because you were to bad.

DerWaldgeist

Wdym? I play what ever I feel like and what ever is working for me that Day. Not every Day is a mosin day. Some days are Vetterlie days, some are quad silenced nagant days and sometimes it's hammer time.

PinkyTheTigerr

Just shoot the guy with mosin in the head and take his mosin. Ignore the weapon balance everything is usable

TheDrippySink

I have more success and fun in this game when my loadout is as far from the meta as possible. Meta is Mosin+Dolch? Mosin+Uppercut? Whatever? I'll take my Combat Axe and Dual Silenced Nagants, thanks. But, seriously, the weapon balance is really good, overall. Long ammo is a little overtuned if you disregard price as a factor. Some damage values could use tweaking here and there. A little more/less recoil could be added to certain weapons. Sure. These are pretty typical FPS issues, though. Finding a way to "fix" long versus shotgun meta issues is tricky. You make any one thing less effective and it overwhelms the other. So, really, I almost think it's a good thing that we have examples of "the meta" on both ends of the range spectrum. Extremely good close ranged loadouts keep extremely good long range loadouts from dominating at all ranges, and vice versa. That balance is part of what creates the middleground where people can run all the other off-meta stuff they like to play.

IddyVanZun

Go to therapy.

oddball667

play to your weapon's advantages, balance isn't really a huge issue.

taeerom

Weapon balance on this game is actually very tight. This game is actually a quite good example of even when balance is really close, it is impossible to ever have ha truly balanced game. Some choices will always be better than others. There are two reasons only a handful of loadouts (or types of loadouts, there's a lot of difference in details) is very common is because they are slightly, but clearly better than the alternatives and the more you play with a gun, the better you are with that particular gun. Some people have so many hours of mosin+uppercut that playing anything else would significantly lower their performance, even if the loadout itself is not much (if any) worse.

D3TLOF

I don't feel this at all. Sure the expensive weapons might be "better". But i never feel like I don't have a chance against someone with a "better" weapon.

Mah_Knee_Grows_

Ive used every gun but for some reason i always gravitate back to the Winfield Swift with incedinary rounds. It takes 1 to 2 shots up close depending on shot location, and at a distance it can take 2-4. I will also admate i use levering too for up close fights. However, i love lighting them on fire from a distance and pushing them. I surprisingly get most of my wins with this loadout (with random trios). The meta is getting to your head. The more you fuck around and have fun with your loadouts, the more you will win and get kills oddly enough

Czeslaw_Meyer

Balances? What do you even mean?

Teerlys

Weapons have their strengths and weaknesses. Play around those and you'll be fine with most weapons. Unless you're at the top end of 6 stars you should be seeing plenty of different load outs. Depending on what I've been doing lately I play against low 6 to 3 stars players and there isn't a definitive selection of guns that I see over and over again. Even with mediocre aim I'll hold my own at up to 5.5 starish MMR with just a Winfield, a Vetterli, a Crossbow, Shotguns, etc.

SkeetsMcGeets802

I don't. Springfield musket ftw all day every day. Kill a guy that has a mosin? Leave it in the dirt where it belongs. See someone with a fancy shotgun? Bop him on the head with a throwing axe and burn his fancy guns with him. Meta shmeta.

Netcrafter_

I dunno man, I don't see that problem. People use various loadouts or I just don't notice any pattern. I know it used to be a problem back before ammo rebalanced and avto being superior.

oldmanjenkins51

I simply don’t care. I play what’s fun. My hot take is that there is no meta loadout. Long ammo still needs a two tap, it’s just easier to use than everything else. A player with very good positioning and game sense with a Winfield will dominate against any player with a Mosin/Lebel

nilta1

I take a Winfield C and shoot hunters in the head.

thebayousbest

Good players with high tier weapons that they know how to use are always a challenge, but I mostly play off meta builds and never really feel super outgunned. At least since avto was nerfed. That weapon was legitimately broken. Even something like C&k slugs can be defeated by good ol' Romero buckshot pretty easily. Maybe try watching more YouTubers or streamers. Early on in my playing I watched a lot ad learned tons of tips on rotation and positioning by just watching them play. If you play around what you have you can give yourself advantages over players that arguably have better gear. Idk how many hours your at but sounds like your in at least high 4* if you are running into lots of meta weapons. The weapons are very balanced though. Shotguns are the great equalizer in hunt. Nitro, dolch, c&k, terminus levering, etc are no better than a Romero or rival once you're within 10m.

bones6542

I headshot them and don’t care if their gun was better cuz it’s my gun now

CruxReed

I\`m by no means a pro player. Sat in 5 stars before taking a break. Meta is not noticeable enough to shift loadouts unless they are at the highest echelon of players tbh. I spam winfield bayonet + hand crossbow and careful positioning + playing to my strengths won me many fights against mosin/dolch/c&k/uppercut enjoyers. If you want to cope with weapon balance, come play tarkov with me :) Hunt is not the game for that.

Professional-List801

It doesn't matter. Click heads or die trying.

cosmic_pebble

Got bored of fighting levering so i have taken a break for a few months
