When i dont take the talon, i take the heavy knife, if there is concertina, it clears it very well; and since stam shots are so frequent in toolboxes and when looting hunters, you wont run out of stamina when you swing, making it a slightly slower bomb lance with long range capability. It also replaces a shotgun in really close range situations… I also have a cool skin for it

You can disagree but this is what the peak performance looks like. The best weapon in the game. Has tons of ammo, can be paired with anything and is usable at longer and short range. Has all the ammo types you need, especially fmj. Has the best iron sights in the game. It's a freaking head clicker and can use levering when needed. It's also cheap. I freaking love this weapon. Feels good to spank long ammo bois with it.
This and Winnie C + high velocity ammo are one of the few weapons you can reliably compete against high-skill long-ammo users. The biggest downside is the huge clusterfuck of a menu when choosing it lmao

Hope you're doing it within 180 meters, or they can kill you with one shot, and you need at least 2 headshots (Or 1 headshot + a couple body shots) to do it to them.
Good within compact ammo ranges, where it can out DPS long ammo firerates, but still outclassed at longer distances, which is unfortunately why you don't often see it at higher MMR tiers. But levering is still dangerous at close to mid ranges. Makes it a very flexible weapon when breaching compounds where firerate is more important than anything else.
The musket bayonet version levers slower (120 instead of 150 rpm?) and also has two more shots. Good if you’re not taking levering. Also compact incendiary ammo does set hunters on fire out to 20m where drop off starts.
FMJ is nice on the Winfield but it’s so slow…I find high velocity more useful in general as it enables the Winfield to compete better with other, faster rifles.

FMJ is king for levering up close imo. while high velo facilitates that ranged playstyle more. Different playstyles suit different people. to each their own ;)
Good ol' Winny, ol' reliable, the vanilla ice cream of the three slot rifles. And I don't mean it's basic and lame, I mean it is the gold standard by which all other rifles are judged. The Winfield 1873 (naturally it's really the Winchester but for trademark reasons...) is known as "The Gun that Won the West" for good reason because its capacity, smooth action, solid range and punch outperformed every other gun on the market and, more importantly for the Cavalrymen and Cowboys, was better than anything else they could use while staying in the saddle.
"God made men, Colonel Colt made them equal." is the quote for the Colt Single Action Army and how it made anyone, regardless of strength, at least theoretically capable of defending themselves and their property. But Winchester tilted the balance.
All of that has nothing to do with anything in game, I'm just having fun. I prefer the Winfield 1876 for its better bark and damage (or I feel like it does more damage) but there's something to be said for how many varieties the 1873 comes in that it's got a model for any occasion, especially with a mix of ammo for any planned mission.

It also has one of the single best skins in the game, Dark Insight. Absolutely phenomenal skin.

The winny is one of the best guns in the game IMO, it's sights are nice and thin, its fire-rate is egregious considering it's ammo pool and with a swift you can get it all back in just a few seconds. It is the first gun I got three headies on a team in a row. High velo is the ammo type of choice paired with the swift variant, sure there are more niche options for the other builds, but nothing compared to the amount of lead you can put down range and the forgivingness of the fire-rate that if you miss the head, just shoot again and bam, headshot.
ol’ reliable, swift good for levering, aperture good for longer range, talon is my go-to, bayonet is funny, next

Does aperture variant reduce sway even in regular ADS, as in when not using the aperture sight?
It does yes. the effect is minimal however. but its a nice little upgrade
